First real pics of my Neon...

Hey guys, so I posted one picture of my R/T on the trailer coming home from Missouri, but I never got around to posting any other ones. I took a few tonight with my new head and tail lights, thought I would throw them up on here. BTW, I know the car is dirty, but it's too cold to wash it right now

Also my camera sucks, so I could only take pics in my cramped garage. More when it warms up!
Quicksilvr's old tails

Thanks!
Thought I would post a pic of the tires I tried to use in a Minnesota winter...guess how that worked out!
Haven't had much time/money to put into it yet, as I'm at school, but what do you guys think? So far I've put in Booger Bushings, new headlights/taillights, front strut bar (waiting on rear), new rubber, and a k&n drop in. Comments are more than welcome!! Thanks!!

nice to see another hockey player on the boards. i know you guys in minnesota like your hockey just like us canucks do!
car looks good though man. the headlights are clean, though i'm not a fan of the altezza tails. at least they're not the chrome housing ones. the black housings look much better.
keep it clean,
scott.

yeah man, the headlights are brand new, the other ones were garbage so I threw them out. I'm also keeping the original taillights, just in case I change my mind.

The car isn't that dirty. Looks pretty clean to me.
But you do have to clean that engine bay though.

Dude, you need some winter tires fo sho! I tried to use similar tires on my 2000 Regal GSE and it failed BIG-TIME! Can't wait for spring so you can get some outside pics of it!

Looks good, I want that front bumper. I still can't decide if I want to put the hammerhead on my car.

Those tires were worthless! I went to put some Kumho ASX's on, and they took one of the tires off and told me I had a cracked rim (a week after I started driving it) so I had to find a single silverstone while I was driving on the spare

Also, does anyone have an opinion on whether or not I should put in the fog lights that are supposed to be there? I'm kinda liking the look without them, but it would be nice to have them while driving.

Nice car man! Although the pics are, like you said, in your garage and the car is dirty....it's still nice to see a new member with a nice R/T model. I'm glad those old taillights found a good home. They'd been homeless for going on 3 years. I'd say it's an upgrade for them...from a '00 ES to a '01 R/T.

If those tails are just black housing, then they are okay...if they are the imitation carbon, they are fail. You could put them in the oven, pop off the lens and paint them flame red...that would be pretty sweet. Anyways, I'd find or make some fog delete plates, because fogless is nice
Anyways, if it were my car, I'd do the following...
1. Clean the car, inside and out, and definately detail the shit out of the engine bay.
2. Remove all badges/mouldings off doors/trunk.
3. Lower the car with Tokico HP/SRT-4 struts and Progress Technology springs.
4. Get the wheels powder coated gloss black with a red lip.
5. Tint the windows.
6. Paint the outer portion of the mirrors flame red.
7. Get "Viper" seats
8. Re-do seats in dark slate with red inserts.
9. And on and on and on...
Just a short list of what I'd do if I had a red 2001 R/T

Thanks for the suggestions! Unfortunately, I'm on a limited budget (like everyone else!). Also, what does everyone have against the tails? Lucky for me, the only opinion that matters is mine!

Oh...I looked closer and they ARE the imitatioin carbon. IMHO, those tails would be better off on a black car. Carbon fiber just doesn't look right on a bright red car. I think you should try and bake them apart and spray them either flat black or flame red to match the car.

Doesn't look too bad. def clean up and wipe down that engine bay a little bit when you get a chance. Also a new shift knob would be a plus but not a definite need, ur choice. looks good though.

I could have told you the second you bought them from me that you'd get that response.

That style was "in" when it first came out cause it was like, "oh cool, a new taillight design". But then like most fads, it went away. You'll find that most people on this forum like clean, stock(ish) looking cars. Almost any aftermarket taillight design gets frowned upon here.
But, like you said, it's only your opinion that matters.
If I had a red R/T:
-Lower on Tokico struts/Tein springs
-Put good meaty tires on
-Tint windows
-Remove the spoiler
-Keep the stock taillights
-Shave the badges on the trunk, but leave the "R/T" on the side
-Detail the engine bay and install a powder coated red valve cover
Other mods:
-Intake and throttle body
-Motor mount inserts
-Underdrive pulley
-Thermal exhaust rear section
-Viper seats
-different shift knob
And golly, I personally would be fine driving that sucker every day.

-Lower on Tokico struts/Tein springs --on the list
-Put good meaty tires on --not sure if i could get much more on there
-Tint windows -- possibly, but low on the priority list
-Remove the spoiler -- never, it's a one year thing, and I like it (even tho it looks like a grand am)
-Keep the stock taillights -- planning on it, in case i change my mind
-Shave the badges on the trunk, but leave the "R/T" on the side
--also on the list
-Detail the engine bay and install a powder coated red valve cover
--top priority
Other mods:
-Intake and throttle body
-Motor mount inserts -- on my dd? any suggestions on where to get them?
-Underdrive pulley -- perhaps
-Thermal exhaust rear section --already has magnaflows
-Viper seats -- looking for them
-different shift knob -- on the way, there was an aftermarket one that was ugly on it, this one is temporary
Thanks for all the feedback guys!! Positive or negative, I appreciate it

It looks good! I feel you on the cold weather though I can't get hardly anything done to my baby cause its so cold out.

I'd just say clean the bay and leave it for now! Your plans sound good though.

Best of luck with her.

Yup, its on the way. I'm also planning on taking out the equipment in the back, because A. it doesn't sound that good, B. It won't fit with the rear strut bar and C. I can't fit my golf clubs in there. Major problem!!!!

I have yet to see any aftermarket tails for the Neon / SRT-4 that I have liked...
They all look ricerish and take away from the clean look IMO...
If you like em.. more power to you.

I think the CLK style looks great. Clean, but still different than OEM. The black DEPO LED tails look nice too. Being that I had Mopar 3D lights, I kinda like them too. I just don't likethe side profile of them. Straight on from the rear I like the look though.

yeah i have a hard time putting my golf crap in the back but i figure seats fold down for a reason.
