teaser pic of new dash...updated pics
In the end we all still drive Neons!! I like all the cars on this site. A car is a reflection of yourself. Everybody has there own taste in what they do and how they do it. If we all had the same car this site would be very boring. Who cares how the car gets done as long as the vision you created makes you happy every time you see it. I may have more experience than most of the members on here as far as paint, body and fabrication. I have been in this business most of my life and its all I know. At the end of the day I still drive a red Neon with a primered hood and trunk. I think it looks like shit and it will never be what I want it to be. I go to car shows as much as possible, I have never asked someone if they payed someone else to build there car. I have gone to shows and have seen cars, trucks, and bikes that I have done 90% of the work and they claim they do all there own work. Doesnt bother me a bit. To each there own.

It was built for show, just not by what people traditionally think of show cars. The only differences between my car and krackstars is the fact that I don't have a body kit (I used a chin spoiler, hood and a diffuser), don't have as much interior painting (which wouldn't fit with my theme)...and I don't have the same type of suspension. I have a full custom paint job, full custom interior kit (that you haven't seen yet), custom trunk setup, the motor is all done up...etc. Each person's definition of a show car....is different.Arro wrote: Oh and no offense lil' sparkplug, but I don't think your car is all that showy. It's definitely cool looking, and certainly not your every-day SRT-4. But it's nowhere near being custom enough, nor is it old enough to win on clean merits like my dad's '64. It's just a really really nice looking SRT-4 with IMO very good choices for accents and minor visual mods. A very flashy, yet tasteful car, but not a show car (despite whatever wins you've picked up). Krackstar's car is more showcar IMO. He's completely modified the body, for starters. Again, like anything, this is all IMO.
This is not directed at Krackstar's or lexneon's car at all but: Just because I don't have tacky parts that don't flow, a shoddy body kit, excessive carbon fiber and vertical doors...doesn't mean the car isn't a show car. You can keep the factory lines of a car and still make it into something amazing.
Lexneon: I think you're getting a bit overworked about what people are saying. If you did alot of the work, all the power to you that's badass. All I said I was I didn't care for the screen in the dash as it sits right now but that it may look better in the car once it's finished. I wish I had the type of money that you have....I would be much further along than I am now.
And to say that no one on here can compete with you on "your level"...is a bit cocky and not what 2gn stands for. There was a picture of a white neon posted on here at a show in PA with a full mercedes light front end conversion and on that merit it could probably compete with yours. We aren't on this forum to say "My neon is better than your neon". We're here as a community.
im not being cocky.. jsut real.. this is a show car.. top of the level show car.. id ont drive it because its a show car.. i saw that white but it deosnt have a lot of key things for show cars. and honestly saying that no car on here can compete against my car is not being cocky its being real. my car has come a long way..
i never said my car was better than anyones.. i said no one can compete with my car at carshows.. my car is very impractical.. every body on this forum has a more practical car than mine because it is driveable.
dont take what i said as an insult because that not what i was trying to do.
i was getting aggravated because no one awas reading what i wrote. everybody assumed that all the work was outsorced... I DONT HAVE ALOT OF MNONEY>.. i barter.. i deal and make deals for everything... since i do not use any shops.. my cost factor is WAY DOWN
my friend is doin CF for free... total cost for roll cage.. dash and all doors is under 2000... full stereo rebuild is under 500 bucks...
im not throwing tons of cash into this car.. i just have built relationships with people to build t he car becuase HONESTLY they are better than me at this and i know i couldnt make a better product.
i dont want this to turn into a HE said SHE said.. or my car is better than your car kind of thread.
i have respect for anyone who mods a car becuase that is an extension of them. since i am a car dealer and sell cars for a living as well as real estate. i have the ability and honor to deal with many types of people and really have seen some crazy mods on cars. i dont hate.. and i hope it didnt come off like that.. just a little frustrated becuase everyone 'assumed' i did none of the work and put tons of cash into this car
BUT>.. i got some pics to follow... i cant make it down to pick up the dash today becuase of some family obligations and with easter tomm. i wont be able to get it becuase of family and church
ill get some pics via email and get them up here so you get an idea. we actually had to paint some of the dash so i THINK i came up with a cool way to break up carbon and flow it into the center consoles and door panels..

Your car has definitely come a long way, no one can argue that point if they try....well they're tards. Now not being an asshole, just being curious since you go to a lot of higher end shows.... What are the key elements/things?lexeon wrote:im not being cocky.. jsut real.. this is a show car.. top of the level show car.. id ont drive it because its a show car.. i saw that white but it deosnt have a lot of key things for show cars. and honestly saying that no car on here can compete against my car is not being cocky its being real. my car has come a long way..
you know its kind of funny cuz a show line HIN is more geared towards performance....if I recall correctly...which I'm wrong all the time.... motor and exterior mods arew roughly 70 percent of you overall score...where inteior...stereo and interior is about 15 prcent...brakes suspension and undercarriage is the rest...dub show is less on motor and more on bling but I don't really do those shows much...hope that helps

lol at this thread....
to me...a showcar may have many themes....the first and foremost importance is cleanliness.....krack, lex, spark, sxxt, and all others def. have that....
taste varies per person........and when you build a showcar everyone has a particular thing they like to focus on...for me ..its getting blue and carbon/black to flow..... for laidneon, its a retro type thing, for spark, its all about pink and the cuda....
those in the show scene usually do want to win...and naturally, try to get as many points as possible.....this would mean we modify to our likings while also trying to cover most sections of judging, like exterior, paint, ice, suspension, etc.
my problem with the show scene is some people have the tendency to simply throw a ton of parts on their car just so the points add up..and they can't lose...well...if it isn't done with a purpose or functionality to a certain extent, it takes away from the money invested..(ie rice would fit this profile)...
i do admit if you are okay with spending the money for someone else to do work to your car, go for it....(specializing is great)..and lex's contacts are a plus.....now...my problem is if he just gave the guy the dash and said ..do it however.......i think its his car..he should have gave the fabricator a drawing and idea of what he wants...
laidneon.....i love your car..but for you to say mine is better cuz i did all the work myself...that's stupidity...btw...how long have you been working on that car...is it ever gonna be done????......i'm also not a fan of air ..but for you to say what you did on here is pathetic.....grow up
kracks car rubbed me in good ways and bad.....its the nature of the business..once you start getting a ton of mods .....you start to go away from the stock neon everyone started with..and opinions will vary the further and further you customize..
arro....you saying sparks' pink srt is not a show car is nuts...lol...just because it doesnt' have a true "body kit" and stuff..haha....ever go to a hin??? ever see the jdm aftermarket??? its all about a theme.....jdm cars dont' look custom at all..just very clean ....and even with the old cars..muscle, hotrod, etc.....some may be custom....others are simply 100% stock but restored and clean....both are showcars...
lex is my fav. show car on the site.....the tv..in the dash ..eh...i wan't to say its too big.......the edges look too stretched and sharp for a relatively curvy dash.....cf is gonnabe sweet tho..

To the guys calling him out on not doing his own work, with all due respect, you do all your own work but does your car look like his?my opinion i think my car looks better, but its 2 different style of builds. Just my 2 cents. Im not calling him out on him doing his own work because i don't care. He works hard for his money so if he pays a shop to work hard on his stuff that is his business & its no ones concern really. Hell people pay me to work on their cars
my 09 ram will be done by me in my buddies shop since its going to take about 3 weeks to get my rear end back from getting narrowed. HOA would have a field day with my truck on stands tore up on my driveway lol
First off bro, i wasn't trying to be a dick when i said my car looks better. if you notice i was first backing him when people were bashing him for not doing his work. our style of builds are polar opposites. i don't care for the "tuner" look. it's natural for a person to think their car looks better because of what peaks their interestwhyconform wrote:laidneon.....i love your car..but for you to say mine is better cuz i did all the work myself...that's stupidity...btw...how long have you been working on that car...is it ever gonna be done????......i'm also not a fan of air ..but for you to say what you did on here is pathetic.....grow up
In the end I think most (or all?) of us can agree on this: Lexeon has a good attitude, and I can think of any number of people on here who would claim a blood path if even half of what was said to Lexeon was said to them.
You're a-ok in my book, dude

Everybody has their own tastes. To me, LaidNeon's car looks better because I can still tell it's a Neon. Regardless of who's done the work, what matters is that it looks good to you and it makes you happy. This should not be a pissing contest and a huge fucking argument over nothing like that. I'll be the first to admit, a good portion of my car will be professionally done or at least with the help of professionals in my friend's garage because I don't know what I'm doing. I'm willing to learn and practice until I can do things like that on my own. But, that is beside the point. Everyone has their own opinions on what looks good and what doesn't, everyone would do things differently on their own car. I've seen things on here that I would NEVER think of doing to mine, but it still looks good and the owner likes it so that is what matters. Can we stop the back and forth now?

This thread has gone so far O/T its not worth saving.
Bottom line, a show car is whatever the owner wants it to be, and gets there however the owner wants it to.
Personally, I think y'all should just take all that crap off and make them fast, but hey thats just me.
Feel free to make a new thread when you have updates, but lets keep the bickering out of it guys (and gals).
