For all those people who told me to get slammed, This One For You

8:30am

now time to begin undoing the bolts holding the struts up.
Image
cant fully break it lets get a hammer. lol to help.
Image
the third hammer finally does the trick then Fuzzy Show up with the jesus bar an 80FtLbs torque wrench and helps break the rest of the bolts off

Now further reading requires a special tool and a vice
Image
Stairs work just as well.
after taking all four struts off and between two jacks a block of wood and cinder blocks, were making progress.
Image

Time to try and get these screws off the top and low and behold the require a special tool to take off these nuts. one to turn and the other part of the wrench to hold the one bolt down. call teamlivid for advice and lean of ghetto way of breaking the bolts. Does not work. people were giving us strange look as we where pounding the crap out of them to break them.
It the bolt right in the center that lock the springs down.
Image
After about an hour and a half of us jumping on this thing it would not budge. so lets take it to a shop. After we get there only pay 100 to swap springs and then go home and have pizza bites. Yeah pizza bite. after that go back to the garage to get struts with megan lowering springs. takes about thirty minutes to put both front springs on and then we get to the back
back one we can't get to line up now. fuzzy all of a sudden after fifteen minutes of fighting realizes that he used a jack to make everything fit. so we get the hand cranker and the impact drill and go to town and in about another thirty minutes this was the results.

Wow your car has lots of colors going on lol. What color will it be when you're done? The stock color? And there are easier ways to get the shock nut off without power tools, but they suck more than paying a shop to do it that has the right tools lol.

Drop looks good though :)

Mmmm... that looks good. Different colored bumpers FTW. It's so much easier to find my car in parking lots!

To get that center bolt off you need a very long pair of giant vice grips and an impact gun. Hold the rod still with vicegrips and pound at it with the gun. But of course you didn't have access to those tools. Tahts good you had a shop do it and save the headache. $100 seems a little overpriced but its all good.

Car looks great lowered.

No need for big rachets....I have a piece of pipe here that I use as leverage when I can't loosen a bolt with a hand tool. It's friggin amazing. Pipes FTW

You should NEVER put vice grips on a rod of a strut, any imperfection in the surface can cause it to blow.

It was on my stock strut. Stock struts were worthless. I was going with Tokico HP blues at the time on my 01 Neon.

when i was takin my struts off i just used an impact wrench.. like socket on top pressed the trigger and it came off fine... lol no vice grips or anything... worked well..on and off. if you are gonna work on suspension i would recommend an impact wrench... well worth it.. imo
