Ryan's part, Crystal's request of new project

Post by FAC3L3SS » Sun Oct 18, 2009 10:03 pm

Ryan (sidepipe) and I met up yesterday in Ohio to swap out some parts...er whatever (check his project log, pg. 12 I believe). Anyway, he got my SRT rear and I got his '03 boobied bumper with the lip, with the center painted black and R/T exhaust cutouts. I mentioned that I *think* I am the only one with an SRT hood, 02 front w/ civic lip, SRT skirts and caps, and '03 rear w/ lip kit, ALL colormatched. Here's what I have so far. I got the lip mounted up about two weeks ago, I pick up the front bumper on Tuesday.

Sorry Ryan....I think the whole flat black section will get cut out. :-(

I'm hoping that the mis match in color is from the sun, I know silver can be funny that way.

It is. We were paranoid about driving 3 hours in the hopes that they'd match. Ask Ryan, they're spot on. Damn sun and weak camera...

Yup. Back to a 2-finger gap. It just looks aweful from the angles I took because I've got no wheel well liners / mudflaps. I'm still lower than 90% of this shithole town, just a little over 2" higher than I was two weeks ago :-(

Looking good Adam. I have always loved the rear mopar lipped 03 bumper with SRT skirts. I only know 1 other guy with that (thxthboy) and it looks sick. So it's not a total loss.

On the other hand, I also got worried when I saw the miscolored matching, but relieved when you said its just the sun and camera. :D

Looking great man. I wanna see pics of the front bumper neeeeoooowww.

You and me both. Last I saw it, it was covered in primer. But yeah, if you look at the first pic, the trunk is the same color as the bumper. That's where the sun was hitting. I didn't take the car to get pics. Just grabbed a very while we measured for a carport!

Moar pics on Tuesday.

He's wanted an SRT rear for a long time. He was buying other things off me, and asked if I'd be interested in a trade. So I just went ahead and did it.

Drungk on a Sunday night? Like I said, he wanted one for a long time. As long as the rear bumper matches and has a lip that lines up, I really don't care.

damn dude. If you could only move that cannon over like an inch, you could leave the middle section!

Honestly, it looks pretty good on there. Silver does have a tendency to look off at certain angles from the sun, but as Adam said, it was spot on for me so I'm assuming his matches as well.

Can't wait to see your new front bumper setup as well.

LOL. Sorry gadies and lentlemen, the middle section was cut off today. Pretty fucking amatuer job is I say so myself :-( I'm gonna cover the section that's all cut with that garage sealant crap that's used for HD lips. At least the jaggedness wont be visible. UGH moar pics tomorrow with the front bolted on.

What did you use? A kitchen knife?

You should've used a dremel. It would've made it cleaner.

And I'm glad you didn't ditch the fart can. Too many people have duals.

If you ditched the fart can, you would've left me the only cool member on 2gn with one.

you and i have pretty similar bumper setups. i have 02 w/civic lip, srt sides w/uppers, and 02 R/T rear. you are going to love the way the sides look with that front bumper, i do anyway.

YES. Thanks for the info man. I haven't had a chance to even mock it up, so I'm hoping they match up well.

Yup, the can stays. Cheaper to cut. I used like a mini-motabo saw. Just shook like mad so I slipped a few times.

QFT. I was a poser and lame. Then got it painted and it was CLEAN! But weak cuz it was only an exterior swap and not motor.

THEN people are like "wtf you ditch the bumper fer!?" Ah well.

I think any neon-specific bumper with a lip that follows the body lines looks good, so it really wasn't tough for me. I hope the front lines up well too. Thanks man.

Welp, I went down and got the bumper fitted and whatnot today...sorta...

Apparently, you CAN'T rock the '03+ headlights with an '02 bumper. So I had to actually spend money today and get some *gulp* chrome projectors for mad cheap. I was told they'd be here by Fri or Saturday, Monday at the latest. Either way, pics will be up around then, and the car will be done in time for the meet on the 30th.

BTW...I know it's been covered trillions of times, but how difficult is it to open up the projectors and reseal them properly? I'm thinking of painting them black.
