Light Painting

Post by ZeroChad » Sun Nov 08, 2009 11:38 am

I don't know if anyone here has tried/heard of it before

Here is the basic idea. Night, long exposure, and a light source.
Image

You can apply this concept to cars too. I originally was just trying to light up the car and not get my led headlamp to make the streaks. All of these were taken in pitch black.

But then I thought it looked pretty cool with the streaks

Pardon the winter steelies lol. Give it a try if you have the camera. Its a lot of fun.

probably move the light source around. The camera is stationary and just picking up the light source as it moves around while the camera's lense is open.

Pics look pretty cool, btw :)

^^ you set your shutter speed to a longer exposure and then walk around the car with a light

Thanks. you guys should try it sometime. The real goal is not to get any glare from your light source and just light up the object you're shooting, similar to the first car pic. If you can find a place that's dark, with a few things in the background lit up, its ideal.

Here's a cool one.

That's the cool thing about it. Since its dark out, the camera will only pic up what you shine the light on. You can see my pants in 2 of them above cuz I hit them with the light by accident. I think if you put some time into it, and sheilded your light source well enough, you could make some cool pics.

I might have to give this a whirl some time. It might be hard to find a place with such little light though...

Very cool. I like the concept a lot! I might have to mess around with that.
