TNK's Monster Airdam

Post by TNK » Mon Nov 16, 2009 7:25 pm

so i was talking to my buddy the other day, told him i was gonna order a monster airdam for my car, he asked what it was so i showed him some pics. he then asked "why buy one? we can make that!" so that's what we did. found some scrap stainless, cut it down to 44"x6", put it in the bender, drill the holes, rounded the corners, and voila, i had a snowplow.
Image

so after attempting to drive around town and not being able to get into any parking lots, and barely my own driveway, i took it back off, took an inch off the top with a hotsaw, redrilled it, and put it in the bender again. i put a much more drastic bend in it this time, and here's the end result:
Image

i LOVE it. haven't decided what to do for the "color" or it yet, leave it raw stainless, or paint it black...

The purpose of this is to trap roadkill, thus eliminating your need for the grocery store?

Yea... it's a fully functional downforce modification... BUT the look isn't worth the grip imo.

it has nothing to do with downforce. it's to get more airflow up in front of your radiator. better cooling, and supposedly better gas mileage.

as for the look, i love it, i've always thought it gives the front a more aggresive look.

thanks for the comments guys. soon as i pick up my first kill we'll have some grub

If you must paint it, I vote white.

Seen them in black, and it looks good, but your car need would look better with a little contrast under there, with your CF lip.

I dunno... I prefer flat black. I mean, you know the thing is there and it gives the front end a more "stealth" look to not paint it a contrasting color.

I'll pass on the roadkill.

I'd go black as well. That way the squirrels won't see what hits them!

thanks guys! i seriously contemplated powdercoating it, but i'd hate to put that kinda money into it and end up tearing it up in a construction zone or speed bump or something. i'll rock the stainless a while and then make a decision after winter is over.
