That looks almost identical to my friend mike's neon. He sold it to Paddock Chevrolet as a trade in on a new silverado.

So theoretically (sp) you could have left the entire car black, then prepped what you needed just before paint?

What was wrong with the original paint? I have an 04 too and my paint is fine.

The paint on my '00 was actually pretty nice, except for some mismatched panels.
I can understand not wanting to drive around with mismatched parts, so you primered the whole car, but why not just wait until you can afford the paint, then do it all at once? Mismatched looks better than total primer. Plus, Indiana isn't too kind to unprotected cars during these months.

Leaving a car in primer that long is absolutely the worst idea ever. Primer is very porous and you'll have to strip what you primed and re-do it all come spring if the job is to be done right. I would've left the car be until it was time to paint it.
I too don't understand what was wrong with the original paint....you could've just done the silver with the stripe and left the factory black there, or re-cleared it.....

the only thing that could be left black would have been the roof cause the hood was damaged in the wreck and i shaved the keyhole in the trunk and filled in the holes from the wing, i planed on it being painted shortly after i primed it but me and zack didnt have the time and i didnt want to paint it right before winter cause its still a DD. i have a little more body work to do, then the whole car is getting blocked. ive already paid zack for the paint job i just need good weather and time

Yes but that will soak all sorts of shit into it in the meantime and you'll have to remove all of it before you paint for the paintjob to be done right.

LSP is right, primer is very very porous and will absorb all of the moisture that your car will see over the winter, body filler is the same way, your bodywork is not protected from the elements as it sits. As for the paintjob, if it's already been paid for you need to be on that. I hope you haven't been waiting too long, I know he had an awful lot of hangups with his car and trying to paint it, hopefully he won't put you through the same.

Painting it in the winter will not affect the car at all. I proper paint job is done inside, in a booth. If it's paid for, get in there and get it done. You should have an appointment set to paint it. Otherwise, you paid for something that will potentially never happen.

its still a DD, i already have salt chips in the primer so ill wait, dont want to waste a paint job, ill just spend extra time in prep in the spring. it will happen i know where he lives
