I also believe that 1st gens ACRs with the Mopar Performance ECU has the speed limiter removed along with a higher fuel cutoff.
The 2nd gen R/T & ACRs cut out at 130. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
I stand corrected. Learn something new everyday!

You didn't get the joke, I'm canadain 215km/h equals 135 mph. That is crazy fast and it was on a race track.

Does anyone know the story behind this car.

Hmmm, 215 is not "crazy" fast.
Most expensive cars here are limited at 250 - and dammit here on the straight autobahn you can drive even faster.
The Caliber SRT with German PCM does 290.

With 215 on the autobahn you are a slow obstacle...

Now that's crazy, but that speed on are roads that's crazy fast , your only suppose to go 100 km/h, so 115km/h over the limit gets you in a heap of trouble

^^sure, here the same. Autobahn is not open everywhere. speeding tickets are expensive + you can loose your license very quick for a few months.

Yeah here 50 over and they can take your car, up to a 5,000 dollar fine, and a year suspense. Canada doesn't like speeding. What's your srt top out at?

Here in America, I was doing 64 in a 25. Lost my license for 3 1/2 months and got 5 points on my license. Judge said she couldn't give me leniency for over doubling the speed limit lol. Only "Excessive Speeding" I ever got.

Looks like side impact. Airbags could have potentially done more harm then good in this type of situation.

I hope whoever was driving it survived :(

Unless your bouncing off of your rev limiter in your top gear when you lost the race top speed means nothing.
Right there is how. Thats the only time. I never said drag racing is only about top speed. But it is a factor. If I would boost the hell out of my car and leave the stock computer in there I would probably be shutting off at 118 before I got all the way down the strip.

Or if I'd run some special 5:55 gearing or some shit with mad amounts of accel but tops out at 75 that wouldn't help me.
This. World's fastest/quickest 5-speed SRT does 149 in the quarter. Without that gearing, Eric wouldn't have been able to break into the 9's. Top speed matters (in this case anyways).

My SRT is doing ~250 km/h (155 mph, sometimes more...) and (if i wanna pay for the low mpg then) i can drive it as long as i wanna if the left lane is empty. And believe me - once you learned to handle it you wish that the car would drive even faster! With the stage 3 kit it goes even faster....
And thats not racing or such - thats the usual speed here.
On short trips i go on the autobahn, straight up to 140 or more on the left lane. If another car is in front of me, i break down to it's speed and accelerate after that again.
You cannot imagine how relaxing it is to cruise with 140 and more on a strait and even road (that is made for highspeed!).
Once i had a Audi A8 4.2 quattro - and 155 in that car feels like sitting in your comfy armchair and drinking coffee!!!
(And all the time you think "dammit i hate that fucking 155-mph-limiter)
The SRT is not that comfy but the same speed is also easy to handle - even if you should never forget how fast you are and how slow other cars ould be.

It's not funny if you're doing 140 and some idiot in his shoebox changes the lane directly in front of you - with 60 mph....
Many people her cannot handle highspeed and cannot imagine how quick that little point in the rear view mirror grows up to a car directly behind them.

Oh: Sorry for threadnapping...

For real. And if you're going to bitch about having top speed that's unnecessary for the road, either get a car that is limited to 75 or get to the fucking track already.
