We're in agreement on the important issue (racism).

You don't have to drive your car with 15" wheels, but you should be aware of a few things. When I enter the car in car shows, I reinstall the original SRT wheels.
I have won awards in Mopar car shows in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Not all of the cars are Neons.

The original wheels were 17x6 with BFGoodrich 205/50-17 g-force Sport tires. American Racing Estrella wheels are 15x7, a wider rim gives better steering response.
The tires are Fuzion Zri 205/55-15 tires which gives better grip in the turns, and the car sits lower to the ground, because the outside diameter is reduced.

Oversized wheels and "broken springs" won't make an econobox any faster, nor will it improve its handlng.
No, but a set of 15x7 rota slip streams would be cheaper, and look better than those AR wheels. A wider wheel with the same width tire does NOT improve steering response though. I would leave the stock wheels on year round vs having those hideous things on there.

FWIW, I have stock wheels on both my neons, and have never heard of "broken springs". Could you inform me about this company?

I approve of what's happened to this topic

Mopar_Korean: I had no idea there were different lug nuts, up until her boyfriend called me and said the originals weren't going to fit.
And until just now, I had no idea there were THAT MANY kinds of lug nuts. Thanks for the lesson :)
And she has the Toyota ones. The dealership wanted $200 for a set of 20. Her friend works for a mechanic shop and got her all 20 for $10.

Yes, the tires are definitely on backwards. They're getting switched around soon. I'll rotate mine as well, since my fronts are wearing pretty thin.

The only thing that's obvious is that you swapped the front bumper. If you swapped motors to a stock, normally aspirated 2.4 engine, or a 2.4 turbo engine you are faster.

I bought an SRT-4 because it was more cost-effective than installing a Hahn RaceCraft turbo on my 2.0 DOHC.

I wasn't arguing it was an R/T or not...was just saying that I have never seen an R/T with the high up spoiler like his car has here in Canada..I'm pretty sure that is reserved for sx's and srt's here in Canada...

I was finding it cool and just interesting that Canada and USA could have such varing looks and setups for R/T's and Sx's is all...

The R/T is the 1GN car with a "surfboard wing". The 2GN car is an SRT-4 with an aftermarket wing by Kaminari.

The first generation R/T was only produced in 1998 and 1999, it's a "street version" of the ACR (factory competition car) that was sold for SCCA racing.

There was a second generation R/T produced in 2001 thru 2003. This car had a wing with flat vertical tips. The car also came with 16" rims, and a 2.0 SOHC Magnum engine.
The magnum engine has a "two plane" intake manifold and other goodies not found on the standard 2.0 SOHC engines. This car was probably also sold in Canada.

The 150 hp R/T lost popularity when the turbocharged 230 hp SRT-4 was introduced.

Also, many of us are WELL-informed on these engines and whatnot, so trying to call him out on an engine swap was failsos.

Also, he's got SRT front and rear bumpers, Vipers, steering wheel, and hood...at a minimum. Guess where he got most of that?

I drive a Dodge Neon SRT-4 because I can't afford a Dodge Viper SRT-10, or even a Dodge Charger SRT-8. In other words,
money can't buy happiness, but it sure buys a lot of horsepower.

You could purchase a 2003 / 2004 SX2.0 R/T in Canada Mike, in '01-'02 they were badged as Neon R/T's up here. Also, many of the R/T's came equipped with the low rise spoiler as opposed to the 'hammerhead' spiler shown in alot of the factory literature.

Thanks for "filling in the gaps" .... even 1st generation R/T's are rare in NOLA. The only other one I've seen is red with white stripes.

What is different about the appearance of the 2003/2004 R/T?

I can't remember ever seeing any actual second generation (2001 thru 2004) R/T's on the road here.

Nothing. They're the same!
The only difference is bettween 01/02 and 03/04.
Different front and rear bumpers and headlights/taillights! That's about it.
Oh, and they came with different 16" wheels.
01/02 came with Silverstones.
03/04 came with 5 spoke "fat fives".

It's still a derogatory term, just directed at a different group of people. I could have used the word "ghetto" but either way, it puts an image of the type of person in your head.
I mean no racial harm by the term. It's a common term(in AZ at least) for wheels like...

or...

Infact, they kind of looked like the first picture :tardbang:

LilSparkPlug: The only picture I have of 'em was in a text message on my phone. And I just realized I deleted it :banghead:

occasional demons: Of course. Wasn't my intent to get people's arms up in the air about it. Just...used it how it's generally used. It has been edited though.

Neon4life: Look really close at the before pictures. You can see the front right tire is the regular one. The rear right tire is like a rubber band compared to it

Canada: Thanks! :D Never noticed that. I'll rotate 'em when I rotate my own :)

sidepipe87: No way i'm getting those pictures, now. >.< They died along with my SD card. I knew I should have made backups. And thank you! :3

For those interested, the wheels very much looked like...

I believe they were 7 spokes though.

ok let me clear some things up, just because you have large wheels on a car is not a hispanic thing. that style came from the south, and the word beaner is used towards mexicans not all hispanic people. also if you wanted to have a beaner wheel on your car you would want to put on a set of 13x7 100 spoke dayton wire wheels on low pro tires or 5.20 gangster white walls, but please go on with what you think a beaner wheel is its funny.
