Because people confused my car with his which I didn't like... Don't get my wrong, his car looked good, but it was HIS car. I'd rather not imitate. Not to sound pompous but I don't think it looks like all the other silvers here. It's hella clean and I build my car for myself, not to please people on the internet.
That's why you fail. Only reason people build cars is to impress everyone online that they meet face-to-face but 2-4 times.
Yup. If you built it for you, and you liked it with stripes, but then everyone said shit, then you removed the stripes, it's clearly not for you. Honestly, I thought the stripes added character to your car. So, they're not the best looking thing. Neither are TeamLivid's vinyls (no offense Joe), or hul kogan's body kit (also no offense), or the people with eyelids (no offense EVERYONE), but those things make their cars unique and special when we look down the line of Neons.

Personally, I think we need more wacky vinyls and ugly body kits, and just need to embrace the look. It's not my thing, but at least it's all custom, I'm not looking down a line of identical shit. Even Laneholt's wing. I saw the exact one on a different car and it looked amazing. On his car, not so much, but he loves it and, therefore, I love it because it's not a pvo - something we've all seen.

Car still looks good, man. I just like to look at a car and see what kind of character the owner is. Seems like the characters play by other people's scripts too much sometimes and the cars suffer because of it.

I like it a lot now.. it is awesome.

I agree with URIAH about standing out from the crowd and adding your personal touches...

He did build his trunk/spoiler setup himself pretty much. That gives it character :)

I really like this car now that it's "debrodied"

I had a 'Cuda like stripe back when most of y'all weren't old enough to drive.

I took it off too. Then sold the car.

You and Crystalmarie. Honestly, I loved them too which is why I hadn't taken them off earlier. It just didn't make any sense anymore since I'm not going with the full cuda theme like I had planned so they were out of place. I'm sure now that they're gone I'll get to hear all the "I liked the car better with the stripes". Meanwhile, everyone always tells me to yank them.

Oh well, it's my car and I needed to change it up some. I'm gonna miss them but I think I'll be happy with it.
I liked the car with them, I like the car without them. But I agree with your decision since you aren't following the theme straight through. It looks clean, nice job :)

And your car more resembled Brodie's car with the 03 front end with lip with the Cudas on than the SRT-D one.

Uriah...

I get where you're coming from. no doubt. However, I thought I made it pretty clear I did this FOR ME, not BECAUSE of everyone bitching at me to do it. I merely mentioned those guys n the title so they'd check it out and finally stfu about it.

Just because my car isn't flashy doesn't mean it's not unique and I don't want it to be. In fact it's the exact opposite. I don't just toss stuff at my car and hope it works. I sit and think long and hard before I do a mod to my car. Every single thing I do has a purpose and is there for a reason. Having a clean car that really flows together and just "works" isn't an easy task. I'm artistic by nature and my car is just an extension of my art in my opinion. It must be aesthetically pleasing. If it sticks out and grabs attention, cool. If not, that's fine too. It just all has to mesh together.

I originally intended to build a full AAR themed car. TruFiber mini cuda hood, trunk black out, Hemi orange accents, etc... Well I was never able to find a hood that I could afford and they quit making them. The Howell ones are junk and I wouldn't deal with him anyway. From there the direction I was taking the car shifted and it was up in the air about whether the cudas would stay or not. I kept them because I loved the "played out" silver against black theme and just liked the way they looked.

As I kept doing more and more to the car, I seemed to be refining and simplifying the look. I knew that the cudas were becoming out of place, but couldn't force myself to yank them. I kept them on the car for over a year due to this struggle with myself. Eventually I decided that it was time to take the plunge and go in this direction. I had them for two years and enjoyed every minute of them. Change isn't a bad thing, and we need to embrace it. It looked awkward when I first took them off and wasn't sure what to think. Once I got it all cleaned up and took it out for a few shots I instantly knew I made the right choice. It just "works" now. For me the car is very close to how I want it to look. Retrofits and a few last exterior details will finish it off for looks and I can focus on performance.

Like John said, I made the trunk setup with my own two hands which I feel is pretty custom and creative. I didn't just go and buy some god awful off the shelf spoiler (laneholt) that doesn't flow with the lines of the car at all and stick it on my car. I can think of a million tiny details that make my car unique that no one but me would ever notice and I'd want it no other way. To me that means I'm doing my job making everything look like it should have been there to begin with. It's the small details that really set cars off. Attention to detail is key. Things like the color of my wheels being graphite so I made it a point to get DC strut bars because they match my wheels. You said you don't like Chris' (hul kogan) body kit, but can appreciate it. I like it because I know it's a quality Xenon kit that isn't very prominent. The first time I saw his car I also noticed that he had filled in the "Xenon" lettering off the front bumper and he was shocked and said that I was the first person that had ever noticed that. To me, it's things like that that make a car truly awesome and a one of a kind stand out to me.

Bear in mind we're a niche group here. We all drive neons. Invariably some cars will have some of the same parts as others and you're right, a lot of people will just go with a trend because one of the "cool" 2gn kids said it was so and now everyone has to have it. Although it's not true of everyone and those are the cars that really stick out amongst the others. To me, I just like to see what other people have to say about my car but my choice is the final verdict. I have people commenting in every other post about how I need to sell the SRT front bumper. Will I do it? Hell no. I'll keep rockin' it on the car when I get bored because I fuckin' love the way it looks. I don't even care about being a poser. I do it because I like it. I do think the 03+lip front flows better so I mainly rock that front but the SRT bumper isn't going anywhere.

I guess what I was trying to say there is that I don't do shit to my car for people on the internet that I'll never see. I do it for me, and to make my car as clean as it can be. I'll keep modding it for me and hopefully others will like it. But if they don't, then fuck them. Like they say... haters will hate. So let them.

OK time for me to comment. I have the utmost respect for you because you change your ride for YOU, not anyone else or to "fit in". That's why I make any changes on my ride, for ME. OK Yes, sometimes I get ideas from other vehicles and think something is really cool lookin and duplicate it, but usually there is at least some small difference. Hell as long as you like your ride Great, others like it, great others don't like it, WFC, it's not their ride. I like it better without the cudas, but that's just me. I prefer a clean smooth look, and not a bunch of stuff stuck, glued, or otherwise attached on the car.

Car looks good with or without the stripes. But is more simple now... I like simple. Keeping things simple leaves room for less error.

Ryan, good job. You finally have done everything I told you to do.

Uriah... it's people who just stick stupid shit on their cars so they can be "different" even though those parts look like something I puked/shit out earlier that are killing car modding. People doing shit like you said, putting shit on that doesn't flow with their car, is how the term "ricer" came about. So, way to go perpetuating that cycle.

As Ryan said, car modding is NOT about just slapping shit on your car, you do have to put some thought into it, who cares if your car is "unique" if it looks like a blind retarded monkey just randomly started pointing at a catalog and slapping shit on.

Ryan had a theme. He followed that theme for a while, and then changed his mind about where he wanted to go. He dreamt up another theme and is now following that, making sure things flow with his car. THAT is what car modding is all about.
