Wheel Bearing Explosion

Post by eVilcreations » Sun Nov 27, 2005 2:30 pm

Well people....my car is now fixed....but I figured I would post these pics of what happened.

On the way TO the track last Sunday....I had a catasrophic wheel bearing failure......so we loaded the car up on the trailer and brought it back to my house. When I pulled the old hub off.....what came out is what you see in the Zip Lock Bag.....Spindle was trashed as you can see, hub and spindle lock nut were toasted, bearing was obliterated, and rotor was toast.

when things like this happen, it's good to know that it's not as bad as you initially think it would be. Yeah, it might cost more than a pretty penny to do the repairs, but I'm sure you know that it coulda been a hell of a lot worse (like GTS said).

Squeaking/whining while driving....

Best way to tell if they're bad is to jack up the car, and try to move the wheel in and out in a tilting motion.....if it moves......it's bad....

LOL...you guys crack me up

This did not occur from hard driving.

The Hub was damaged when the car was wrecked(donor car), then from that point the bearings/races wore down while I drove, and eventually.....bearing failure.

This happened on the way TO the track....not at the track.
