hey guys its been a long time since i posted on this forums some already know me from my other post of my civic that i already sold so im trying to recover this neon that was my mom last car, she passed away on may 11 so that kept me out of everything for a while but anyways i wanted to honour her by taking her car back from the dead cuz it wasnt runing at all and had a mayor crash on the passenger front corner so what i have done to it so far.

i took of the crash and replaced the headlights for the black housing ones.

put exel wheels with dunlop tires 225/50/R17

and the pain in the butt was the engine that my mom may she rest in peace didnt knew crap about cars and was probably just putting different random oils on it so when i took it apart the cam shaft was dented so had to replace that, the pistons were fryed replaced those too, one rod was bent so i replaced all four of them just to be sure, the crankshaft was so bad that i had to buy a new one too, new pistons rings, new water and oil pump, i still need to change the cam positioning sensor cuz the computer is giving me that code but i will replace it in a couple of months, new spark plugs and wires, new cranck sensor, new engine mounts, all the fuel lines are new also, new fuel pump, the cam got a polish and also changed 2 valves and the valve tappets (i think thats how its called in english), new timing belt and tensor, i still need to replace the gear box cuz its making a weird noise like when a bearing breaks or something but im not familiar with gear boxes so maybe u guys can give me some advices on that, the noise stops when i press the clutch that is also new lol, anyways long story short i spent over 5000$ just to make the car run :S if i wasnt living in venezuela would have been cheaper just to swap a 2.4L but its imposible to find one of those here and it was too expensive to ship one so... well anyways this is a pic post so here goes the first pics of it still got some work to do on the body but i dont have anymore money right now so...









and this is how i want it to look if you guys can give me some advices on what suspension setup to use to ride this way would be much apreciate it

srry about your mom, but i think its great you're restoring her car to honor her memory. Looks like its coming along very well, have any interior shots by chance? Def a clean neon

im ashamed of taking any pics of the interior cuz the lether seats are all mesed up too so i have some black seat covers just so they wont fall apart lol also the roof is hanging like a circus big top )is that the correct term?) hahaha but i did some mods to the cluster thx to LSP for the tutorial on how to change the lights on the cluster and now they are purple like the ones in VWs just a little bit softer than those but ill keep updating the thread when i get more stuff done at least is already runing and im so proud of that its been 2 months of hard work to make this happen and i swear that i had tears in my eyes when it started on the first try with no problems.

Congratulations. you put a lot of hard work into that car. It looks beautiful and sounds like it will be fresh for a while once everything is fixed.

yeah i hope so btw is there a tutorial of how to restore the roof? cuz i cant find one and i hate my hanging roof xD

well yeah i was looking for 16" wheels actually but i loved those ones so had to buy them i thing it was a good choice, yeah restoring that car bring back memories so theres no need to say that all my heart is on that proyect right now, hopefully someday will look half as good as your srt does that would make me proud =)

Car is looking good! I like the wheels. If you buy suspension, will they be available locally or will you have to buy it from another country?

Short of replacing the headliner, you could remove it, and recover it in some other cloth. I don't know how well the original covering will look after being stretched out of position for so long. It might be too deteriorated to try to re glue also.

yeah thats what i ment a tutorial on how to take of the fiber roof and wrap the new cloth

thx that will be enough all i needed to know is how to remove the fiber headliner and how to wrap the visors btw my visors have the light mirror thing i think someone posted them as being rare but every neon here have them if someone need some i might be able to find some at a junk yard and take them with me to LA in january.
