Post by refect » Sat Dec 17, 2005 1:47 pm

after a few weeks of slow working and PITA situations, i have passed the half way mark and tossed the engine in. im sore all over. mainly in my back. my arms are cut up and all that good stuff. was it worth it? so far i think so. :D after working hardcore last night till 3am, everything is pretty much in and it is now time to connect....EVERYTHING!! god damn...haha anyways here is a few pics i have collected....enjoi :D

got the srt front brakes on...im gonna put the backs on too once i get money to buy slotted rotors for the rear so they can match the front.....

Another sohc bites the dust--why haven't i sold out yet? lol

Looks awesome.

Just outta curiosity, about how much does the engine weigh? I would imagine that it's a whole lot but you got a number on it? Not that I'm gonna slap one on my back and run a marathon

Wow, people are putting those in their Neons left and right around here. How much do you think it should run for the complete tranny and engine swap? Any ballpark figures? Time? (Someone who knows what he is doing)

Looking great man, if you run into any probs, don't hesitate to hit me up for answers...always happy to help.

for your question Raul.....I HIGHLY recommend buying a donor car(particularly one that is hit in the rear or side)....that will save you a LOT of time and money. If you keep your eyes open...you could probably find a donor for less than $5000....I paid 3500 for mine, and I've sold almost 3200 worth of parts.....so I almost broke even....and I still have the SRT rims for sale.

hey josh man thanks again for all the help so far. you and diablo have helped me troubleshoot a majority of the PITA problems i have run into so far. im sure ill have more to come though haha. and yeh raul...id say donor car is the way to go....if you can find one. just gotta be patient. if you can though, im sure it will make it easier. becasue then youd know how the srt4 is setup and you will have everything you need. i pieced mine together because i found a guy who pretty much collects wrecked srt4s, and parts them. so i was able to go see him and just grab what i needed. i still gotta go back to see him because i need to trade him out a radiator(the one he gave me leaks out of a spot), get some axels, and some other little things....hopefully this thing will be done sometime during next week

Mmmmm. Erection. I'm sure this question has been asked before, but is the swap any easier to do if you have an +03 SXT? Less parts involved?

on SCC there was a whole article about the SRT4 engine and they said it weight 339lbs with everything minus A/c compressor, P/S pump and no oil in the pan.

Refect....wasnt your car an ATx or am i incorrect, and if it was how much of a hassle was it to swap all the ATx to MTx parts...

really the only hassle with swapping the ATX to the SRT MTX is if you are swapping it all into a pre-02 ATX......

This is because before 2002, the MTX had a cable clutch, so the hole in the firewall is located in the wrong place for the hydro setup. This just takes a little ingenuity, and some fab work to fix.....hell I did it......and I'm no rocket scientist.

hell yeah!!! that is some habor freight tools that you spy. you gota a good eye. and yes i will agree with you on that...they are the shiiiatttt!!!!! haha

and anonymous, yes my car was an atx. like josh said above. on the pre 02 cars the hole that is in the firewall is in the wrong spot. just gotta make a new one lower. it isnt too hard. then i flattened out the firewall a bit with a hammer so the clutch cylinder would sit nice and flush against it.

Hell yeah man... I see the engine balancer for I think it was $40 or even less... mine sat on the same thing for awhile lol Almost had the lift also but I was able to borrow one from one of my dads friends for free so that saved some cash.

If you need to do a job and probably only use the tools once... harbor freight is the way to go  Cheap tools but they'll get the job done
