Alright so I finally got some metal from work to do this with so thought I'd give it a shot. This one weighs in at 1.4lbs. I did all the work on it myself with a lathe I have access to. I run a threaded maddog shifter so drilled and tapped this to fit. Took a torch and heated it up to get some discoloring effect. Its a little tall at 2.5". Diameter is 1 5/8" and fits my hand very well. Let me know what ya think. Also if anyone may be interested I can make more of these for a small price :D

Wow. Huge. Bulky. Compensating.

Very cool that you made it yourself, though. Doesn't the metal get hot?

Yeah compensating for the lack of a small rod, lol. Its actually not that bulky, but I have large hands. I'm sure the metal will get warm once it gets hot outside.

Looks good. As soon as I saw this I got to thinking that I should make a new knob for myself.

Yes it will get hot, but imo it's not that bad. I've had an aluminum shift knob in my car for about 5 or 6 years now and never cared to cover it with somethin.
