diy crash bar for the bfmic

Bought a BFMIC from the dutch brothers.
Used with a dent - but still very cool.
But - no BFMIC w/o crash bar.
MPx is too expensive and too far away - but my buddy Flo can weld very good.
So i spent ~50$ for THREE crash bars.
But - it was a 8 hours job for all the measure, weld, removing parts and whatever.
Unfortunately i found a leak in the BFMIC.
So i had to reinstall the old FMIC (with the new crash bar)...

Thanks to Flo for a great welding job!

Today was finally the day to install the fixed bfmic.
No lift - but we found a nice ramp to make installing the hot and cold side pipe much easier!
i really like the new look!

i also used the day to reroute some vacuum lines and remove the worn battery blanket.

how do you like my custom bracket for the battery temp sensor?

As much as I love the look of a BFMIC and the fact that you tried to make a crash bar, I don't see that holding in a crash.

Since it's flat across, it's going to bend in the middle, snap off the side rails, and allow the impact into the car - instead of around it like the stock crash bar.

I guess it's better than nothing though. It does make your car look mean.

the crash bar is only good for low speed accidents - else you can throw away the whole car after a parking lot accident.

and much more it makes the car much more stiff. without crash bar the handling goes to hell!

This. Without a bar of some sort the front end of the car will feel like a wet carboard box with one side missing.
