Haha thanks guys! I might have bit off more than I can chew, but I'll have the Dynasty as back-up (picking the 'Nasty up from dad's this weekend) in case shit goes sour on it. I went to the car wash this morning just to clean it up a little and started smelling antifreeze, so I'm just going to bring the car to the local mechanic and have him check the entire car over, get a tranny fluid change, do a coolant pressure test, all that jazz. Hopefully it's nothing major like a head gasket! The suspension is the part that needs the most work, which isn't a huge deal. I'm looking into a good set of used struts/lowering springs that will give a marginal drop. If I can't find anything, I'll just have to get some KYBs with the stock springs. I'm also going to get a full Energy Suspension bushings kit and other stuff as I go along. I might have to park the car and slowly plug away at it instead of throwing a bunch of money at it all at once...just in case a shit storm happens with it. Anyways, I updated the original post with some daytime pics I took of it this morning. Keep in mind, I paid $1500 for it.

I haven't gotten under the car yet, but I'm sure there needs a little attention under there too. It's a project/daily driver (once I get the suspension back to new). Anyways, it's good to be back!

Did you buy that from Derek Petersen? I recognize the sublime green HVAC surround. If so, I doubt he would sell you a car with rod knock so that noise in your video is probably something else. Congrats.

Yes, it's Derek's car. We're actually at a Mopar car show in Duluth with his girlfriend and my dad. I'm sure its just a typical noise from the 2.0's.

Well it needs new tires and eventually id like to get some nice 17's, so I ordered a set of 215/40/17 Kumho Ecsta LE Sport tires to mount on the PT's. They are chrome but some dummy prepped them horribly and tried to paint them, so im going to spray some aircraft stripper on them to get all the paint off, correctly prep them, and paint them gunmetal and rock those for now.

I was wondering that also. Looks like it rusted out underneath.

Yeah, I don't know. I actually didn't notice that until after I took the pictures. She is a project, no doubt...but this car is definitely worth saving. I'm going to schedule an appointment to have the local mechanic guy look at it. Tomorrow when I get back home, I'm going to get the car on jack stands and look at the bottom side. I'm guessing I'm going to need a can of rust treatment and hope nothing is too bad underneath. If it is...well, I guess I gotta decide whether I want to keep it or not. Might be more work than I can handle. We'll see.

The wrong bolts on the fender were originally the botch job of a previous owner....I think the normal bolt at the front was broken off in the hole. I added the washer so the fender would align better. Hey, it was my beater :)

Anyways I'm glad the car is going to get the attention it really deserves. Can't wait to see what you do with it!!

Hey Derek, glad you made it back on here! Im going to call the mechanic tomorrow and see when I can drop the car off. I really dont want to drive it much until I can at least get the suspension done and get a cooling system pressure check to see where the coolant leak is coming from.

Yeah for sure dude. That motor still seems pretty strong in that car so when that's all done and you do something with the exhaust, it should go pretty good again.

I don't know if it'll show up, but here's a picture from a couple days after I got the car in 2009.

Yeah, I think I saw that pic on Facebook. What did you say was wrong with the exhaust again? The cat is clogged?

Yeah, I'm pretty certain it is...either that or it is just a lot slower than I remembered it being from my first time owning it.

or maybe I'm jaded from owning/recently owned 2 SRT-4s, one PT GT, and a Jeep SRT8 :tardbang:

Well I plan on doing a basic tune-up (plugs, wires, fuel filter, clean the air filter, oil change, trans fluid change) and seeing if that makes a difference. Unless I do a rebuild, I don't see how I could get all the power back.

Took the R/T for it's first "real" drive today...it did pretty well, considering the suspension is shot and for some reason it's pretty under-powered (my old non-R/T Neon would kick the shit out of this one). Hoping to revive some of it's power with a tune-up and a few other things. I think I'm gonna have a good time with this car!

I called Gabriel today and asked about their Ultra struts, and they said they are built for stock suspension cars...well, aren't most struts/shocks? KYB's are the same thing, but people have good luck with lowering springs if they're not stupid low. I think I'm just gonna go with the extra $50 and go KYB Excel-G struts and H&R springs. In fact, I'm gonna order them RIGHT MEOW! :D
