Sold the SRT got some 1gn love!
1999 Dodge Neon Sport or is it a Highline?
2.0 DOHC, 5 spd
No factory AC, tachometer, power windows or locks. Has a CD and cassette player
128k
Owned by a older dog lady for almost 5 years. Interior is filthy. Some people are just so damn ing. Runs pretty good. Rear main seal is seeping/leaking. P0401 code (EGR valve) Car has a new head/radiator/ and battery amongst other things. Got it pretty damn cheap so I am going to fix it up a bit.

umm... I'm pretty sure he's talking about that other SRT he just picked up a few months ago, not the silver Stage 3. I suppose I could be wrong though, but that'd make no sense.

If you use a 2gn ebrake handle it bolts right in. Otherwise you can shim the 1gn handle or something like that to make it fit.

I just unbolted my 1gn brake handle and moved it over. If you use a 2gn brake handle you need to loosen your ebrake cables if they work properly since the 2gn one is shorter. Other wise it works great. I think I had to trim mine some on the driver's side so it would sit lower, but I can't remember, it's been years.
That 3rd cup holder is OMG convenient though!

I think if it lacks foglights it's a Highline, because the Sport models all had them.
Looks clean good find.

Yuppers, my brother has two GSR's. His silver one is super clean.LowNSlow wrote:Nice... I spy an Integra?
Yeah the ebrake handle is in a different spot on the 2gn center console. Yeah a 2gn one would be nice. Would like to retain the 1gn handle. Yeah on neons.org they said it was a highline. I would love to do a SRT swap on it! What a light weight monster that would be!

Unbolt the 1gn rear handle, and move it over. I only have 1 bolt in my ebrake handle at this point and it's working fine.MyNeonSaysHi wrote:Yuppers, my brother has two GSR's. His silver one is super clean.LowNSlow wrote:Nice... I spy an Integra?

I suggest you look for some stock 1GN alloy wheels instead of hubcaps.

You can usually find them in your local junkyards for a reasonable price

Look into getting trim rings like Canada and FAC3L3SS ran, I think they look kind of sharp, and better than just steelies.
Although if I had a preference, I'd say grab a set of 95-96 sport alloy wheels, I love them to death.

Sorry colonel, don't like those. I am almost 90% sure that all the 1gns had steel wheels. They take the alloy wheels off and try to sell them. Will keep my eyes peeled.theColonel wrote:I suggest you look for some stock 1GN alloy wheels instead of hubcaps.

Yeah steelies are just ghetto. Primer gray and some trim rings would look sick. Forgot about those trim rings.Look into getting trim rings like Canada and FAC3L3SS ran, I think they look kind of sharp, and better than just steelies.

These guys said if I lay a straight edge across and it goes from lip to lip then I should be fine.

I'm assuming those were like Wheel Vintiques steelies or something similar.

Those wheels were 14x4.5" small bolt pattern old dart wheels with OG dog dish caps. I wouldn't ever run a wheel that thin but it looks cool.

More or less, need 2nd gen E-brack, longer screws for the console compartment and no screws for the cup holders.MyNeonSaysHi wrote:They bolt right in!?
Oh hell yes, save me the hassle of cleaning that thing out.
Anyone know the shift points in MPH with each gear to redline? Would like to put a OEM cluster with a tach in there.
You can use the 1st gen e brake but it is more round and the 2nd gen is more ovoid and fits better.

Clean or not.... I can't stand the 1st gen console anymore.MyNeonSaysHi wrote:I cleaned my 1gn console up. Looks brand new. No 2gn console for me.
The 1st modification I do on any 1st gen Neon... Is to install the 2nd gen console.
Having the 3rd cupholder in the center, makes it worth it.
Not to mention, it also has the 'extra' cupholder built into the lid, and the cupholders in the front, are a bit bigger.
But that's just my 2 cents. Congrats, on a great find !!!
