well that escilated quickly...

Post by Hudson_Neon » Wed Oct 16, 2013 12:06 am

disclaimer: gruesome pictures... and yes, I AM OK!!!

so on my morning commute this morning, all hell broke loose. a kid was dinking around at a green light. he went after some time and then one block later proceeded to pounce on his brakes as soon as the light turned yellow. i slammed on my brakes, causing me to skid towards his ass end. as time seemed to slow, i thought to myself, "well fuck... this is gonna suck." and at that moment, i was struck from behind and shoved forward into and UNDER the car in front of me. the car in front of me landed back down on my hood. the impact didn't set off an airbag in any of the vehicles, but it was hard enough that when i came back in my seat, the seat back was broken. needless to say, i'm less than happy. i even got slapped with an "inattentive driving" ticket for $187. it's fairly safe to say that this is the end of my car in its current body. i'm already looking for a decent body donor.

the kid in front did not. in WI, you have the right to stop for any reason and the person behind you has to stop as well. i got a ticket and so did the kid behind me. i'll be fighting mine

So you get a ticket for being rear ended, and shoved into the car in front of you?

Note to self: Never move to Wisconsin.

In Ohio, the person that hit you would have been charged/liable for the whole deal. Since he hit you, there is no way to prove you could or couldn't have avoided the car in front of you. Kind of tough to control your car when another is shoving it.

Since the kid braked at a yellow, it is tough to make a charge stick for brake testing.

At any rate, sorry for the loss of the neon, and all the time and effort.

Sure, you can rebuild a new one, but that's time you could've spent on other things...

Edit: Look, the wing survived!

EJ - I am sorry to hear / see, what happened to your car. :( At least you are O.K.

Interesting that YOU got hit in the rear - and got SHOVED into another vehicle - and they gave you a ticket !!
That, doesn't sound like 'inattentive driving' to me. :-k After all, would they prefer that you DIDN'T stop ??

Glad to hear you are okay. I am with Bill: since you got rear-ended you should not get a ticket where I am from.

Thats dumb. According to that logic, if you were to lock up your brakes on the highway for fun (or for a "deer"), you would have to expect all of the traffic to stop for you, even if they are semi's?

Sorry to see these pics but glad you are ok

well all sorts of logic and reason would say that it's physically impossible for me to be shoved under without my nose being down and his ass being up... but clearly the cop wasn't using logic or reason. he also said that i skidded 42 feet... while traveling 30-35mph. go figure.

i already have a lead on a dirt cheap 03 shell that will serve as a good host body for the heart of my car. i have plans to make sure it's blue real quick like and in the process, i'll shave a lot of unwanted things off

Those pictures are hard to look at. I'm glad to hear you're okay. I can't even imagine how upsetting it must be though to have a car you put so much work into get destroyed in a matter of seconds. I remember seeing you car at Carlisle before and thinking to myself that it was a very nice build. Hopefully you get out of that BS ticket and you are able to find a good shell to transplant your Neons guts into.

That is so messed up. You are okay, that is what matters the most.
I would be so pissed for getting a ticket. Probably because you have a modified car and think you are the root cause.

Dammit, I stood in the pouring rain while this car was turbo'd! That's a terrible fate for a car with that much work into it. Glad you're ok, and good luck in the donor hunt.
