car looks pretty good, but i think it would look better w/o those spacers... for the same reasons others have posted.

the lip does look a little to low, but not bad... the angle is whats taking away from it, but if you like it... its your car.

Has anyone ever looked at ANY cars from the 60's drag era? This is not some mysterious new concept. Its been DONE a million times. Its been expanded on a million times.
At least the guy tried to SOMETHING to improve performance instead of bolting on shit he bought in the Pep-Boys chrome isle or some stupid as neon lites.
I don't care if it only reduced the temp. in his engine bay by a 100th of a degree. If it did, its an improvement.

Its still under warranty and you got crappy insurance payments... Good job getting rid of the ugly stockiness of the stock Neon. Now if it was paid off and it wasn't udner warranty, then I would of taken a completely different route.

grambo- thanks bro im glad someone on here is interested in mods that arent just done to look good and get everyone elses approval. the spacers work and its proven, and to be honest I think a lot of you are talkin shit about em cuz youve probably never seen/heard of them. or they just dont "look" right. haha oh well 8)

loleb- yeah im broke but im tryin my best to get things done here and there. thanks for the support bud

there is a faq on the outher .org about removing the rubber strip at the bottom of the wiper cowl on 1st gens, By removing the strip it alows air to flow up between the hood and the wiper cowl cooling your under hood temps. They say it adds like 1 hp. so i get the point of the spacers, im just not feeling the way they look. love the lip kit though.

mang youre too busy! its alright tho, cuz like i said, springs aint gonna do me any good till i can get my tokico hp's anyways, so take your time.

btw i noticed a few of u said something about me needing a rear lip or fascia, and i thought id let everyone know that i plan to go with an srt rear fascia in the future (rolled of course) due to its lower stance and cleaner appearance. thats not for a long time tho, unless someone wants to trade for my stocker straight up (haha yeah right)!

Off topic:

In all seriousness, from a neutral perspective, it almost looks like some specfic people go out of their way to attack OB. I see it nonstop.

Other people here say way more insane stuff then OB, yet when heaven forbid, he says or does something that other people see as wrong, i can always count on there being posts right afterwards pointing it out.

It's just something ive seemed to pick up over the months ive lurked, and then posted here. 99.9% of 2gn is pretty chill, and im not attacking anyone, i just thought id share what i felt. He has a passion for what he does, just like everybody else here, and he flat out has a nice car.

Wow, he decided to do something different, lol. I see people going to home depot and picking up pipes for their intake for their neon, do i see people insulting them? Nope. I see them being applauded for thinking outside the box, and trying to spend less money. Whatever.

Drunkeness is not a excuse. And underage drunkeness is even less of one.

Horses for coures.

Sorry to hijack your thread OB.

^thanks bro i appreciate your words, and youre not the first person to notice this, several others have personally asked me the same thing. it sucks but i guess im fun to pick on, prob cuz of my short temper (that ive improved on a lot!) and my tendency to (over)react to just about any negative comment. oh well i like my car and i love everything about autos and the scene, so im just gonna keep tryin to let this negativity go. lets get back on topic this thread has a lot of BS in it, its supposed to be for feedback and id like to hear more (criticism is fine, but id prefer nice things of course!!!) thanks

who used "underage drukeness" as an excuse i made a statement in case it was illegable.. there is an diffrence to putting washers in your hood latches to "give it a cowl hood effect" and put your lip at an angle to give it "downforce" then to building a CAI the CAI actully does something the lip aint giving no downforce...except maybe give the front end a little more wieght.. honestly what did the washers do? besides makeing the hood look screwed up and the washers adding wieght

to the "attacking" he comes on here crying that the org is full of bullys.. which yeah the people on the other org speak there minds..then the next time he is getting into a huge fight calling names and calling pretty much everyone a dumbass for buying"ebay special" CAI or other things when he himself never bought one when if i recall dinit even have a CAI.. so what gave him a right to speak up we gave our opinions and he gave his wats thier to fight about..mind us many of us have been in the neon scene for years when he just got on..and then he wants to fight about it bieng a newcomer?

he then gives out some not so good advice or very thorough advice and needs talk about things he knows about and then has the balls to self label himself the "Master Neon Tuner"... please ive been around neons since i was 14 and i still woudnt consider myself "master Neon tuner"...

2gn.org is chill and laid back... but when you comeon full of your self trying to pass yourself off as something else talking out of your ass we dont stand that we just havent run off OB becuase hes like the annoying little brother than we kind of have hope for its like a glimmer.. i wont deny i dig his car just the exhuast and hood.. and he shoulda kept his mouth shut about the lip i like it till i read its "angled" for downforce...please

ob its not your an easy target we say the things we say becuase we want you to see the "light" we get on your ass about nitrous becuase your feeding other n00bs with misinformation and we want you to know about everything...we get on your ass kind of becuase we care in a dumb stupid way that most of us prolly dont relieze..its like a framing or any other construction crew they pick on you becuase we like you if we dinit like you we would have run you off..like sxtgurl but if you get on our nerves too much.. .. unless its right around the corner and as the 2gn.org dumbass i just dont see it coming..lol and as i said earlyier if you cant take the heat dont post any pics...

Actually I have unmedicated ADHD so 16 hours goes by like 16 minutes and you notice at the end of the day that you havent accomplished anything that you set out to do. I start alot of projects in a day and dont finish them for months.Juggling a marriage and child and work and spare time now is so exhausting that I can actually sleep at nite.....or like my wife say's "What dime are ju goink to crash baby"......

P.S.
Dinetuner..........you've been around neons since you were 14.....What a lucky thing for us we have such an experienced neon owner. You arent even old enough to have consensual sex but yet you are a 3 year experienced god of the neon scene...

I think I was helping my Dad work on his Chevelle before you were even a thought.

Look......I myself understand you frustration with OB because I myself have gotten into it with him on a few occations but Tact would help your point if you had any Tact but then again you are a 17 year old puppy with Anger Management problems and what sounds like a tendancy for alchohol abuse.

I know it is irritating to see some of OB's " I Know All ABout Everything POSTS" but it is equally as annoying to read alot of the garbage you write as well

**back to OB's car**

car looks real good, but it would look a lot better if you straightened out the lip and fixed the hood. i understand that the hood has a purpose, but don't you think you should leave that for the track?
to me, modding our car's is trial and error... we see what works and what doesn't. a lot of people don't like my blitz front cause they think its played out, and maybe it is, but i'm loving it. i guess what i'm trying to say is that you should do what works for you... but, you also need to keep an open mind. you don't always have to have the last word... your short temper has improved a lot. :D if we say something negative, just leave it at that. there is no need to explain.

dbl- well said, thanks.

dinetuner- for the record, the lip wasnt angled to create downforce, it ended up at an angle cuz we installed it in the dark, and the next day i saw it and ended up kinda liking it. me and my friend took it off and straightened it out a bit, and when doing that we realized that to make it "straight" we would have to force it to stay that way. its almost like my front end is meant to have the lip sit at a slight tilt. all i said afterwards was that the angle would probably create MORE downforce than the straight one (if any). personally id think that anything that causes drag and lowers the cars distance to the ground (where the airflow is) would create SOME amount of downforce. even 1% would be an improvement.

everyone else, thanks for the comments, and i know you guys dont like the spacers :) , but you have to give me credit for a new idea (on neons that is) and id like for some of you to try to look at things with an open mind and not just judge it based on whether it "looks" good. :)

I know I"m late to jump in here.... But I figured I might as well. I owned a car audio and accessories shop for 2 years. I've seen a lot of garbage come and go... to include the infamous subwoofer install in a KFC box.....

That said...

OB, you paid a good deal of money to get that front lip and to have it painted. Its intended to go on straight and about 90% of people who look at it and notice the tilt will be like "Did you hit something?". The fact that you left it crooked..... thats what it is crooked, not tilted or slanted or whatever you want to call it..... shows that either your car is messed up or the lip is messed up. You screwed up when you installed it and never went back to fix it. Its obviously too low in the front middle as you can see a gap between the bumper and the lip. You had to oversompensate on the sides to get it to stay on. If you honestly think its creating downforce...... maybe you should think again my friend. I do 100+ mph daily on the autobahn and have enough sense to know that a flimsy lip like that wouldn't do crapola for me.

The hood..... Not only is it not functional on our cars, but it is highly dangerous. What if you have a water hose blow? Perhaps an oil leak? Where is that going to go? Having the hood raised like that doesn't suck air in. It allows the air entering the front grill area to exit over the windshield instead of under the car. Now if you look under your hood you'll notice there isn't much room for circulation of air. The air flowing under the car without JDM hood risers will suck the air from the engine compartment. With hood risers on our car I think you would create a bit of lift to the front end. I'm not a rocket scientist.... and that has been proven...... but I think that high velocity air OVER the hood as opposed to the lower velocity air UNDER the hood trying to escape..... well... you see where I'm headed with that one. I've got a CF RD turbo hood that has 2 openings in the front that are behind a riser. Honestly..... I'm scared that if I blow a coolant hose I'll be blinded by the coolant and crash.... and my holes are in front of the engine. Iunno... maybe I take things a little more seriously.

Just because you are trying something different doesn't mean its cool. You don't see Neons running around with aluminum double stacked wings..... if someone did they'd be different right? I think you've got the right idea.... just need to put it into effect. Drop the hood back down, get the lip straigtened out and focus on what you have planned for the rear and the suspension. I'm really diggin that color. Don't like it on SRT's.... but its aight on a reg neon. I think you should get an SRT rear bumper and do a CBD diffuser on it. Someone already said the CF hood and trunk..... that shit would be hawt. Good luck mang.

the spacers have been tested to pull air IN to the bay, same effect as a REVERSE hood scoop. youre wrong about the air going thru the front and out the top, at speed the wind passing over the hood is pulled into the gap and spread into the engine bay. when the car is not moving (or slowly moving) the spacers allow hot air to escape from the hood (ive personally put my hand over it after a hard drive and a considerable amount of heat escapes when the car is still).

as far as the lip goes, youre partially correct, it was installed crooked, and that was fixed when i redid it. the bolt holes line up where the lip is at now, while if i wanted it to be a 1/2" higher (the "correct" way to do it) then id prob have to redrill the holes and come up with some way to get the front to stay where it is. i dunno maybe the lip warped over time or something, but it is what it is, and honestly it doesnt look bad i dont know why some of you are so picky.

btw how might anyone know whether or not something makes downforce/is aerodynamic just by looking at it? you guys talk like you know but do you really? anyone wind tunnel this lip before? didnt think so. and its not flimsy at all its quite firm. what do u think aerodynamic kits are made of fuckin steel? carbon fiber is pretty flimsy yet race teams make entire shells out of them and have success.
