i'll give it one more try....

like i said before, what counts is if you like it... but i'm gonna share my phylosophy with you guys.... if 20 people tell you that your breath smells like d*ck... you must be sucking d*ck. and no, i'm not saying that you are doing that :D but i am saying that if the majority of people say that it dosen't look good, then perhaps it dosen't.

what i meant when i said that is 'does it really look THAT bad?' I dont get how a half inch makes such a noticable difference. from the side it looks real aggressive at an angle, and from the front its hard to even tell its off a bit. the bottom of it sits perfectly level with the ground. the only complaint I have about it is that it scrapes easily, but would such a minor adjustment to make it "right" make a difference? probably not. when i lower the car i might have to do everything possible to get the lip to hug the fascia better, so as to avoid getting it completely ripped off being so low (itll be about 3.5" off the ground at that point). either way im gonna be effin low tho. who knows maybe ill drill out the holes and raise it and see how i like it, cuz when i think about lowering it, im gettin nervous and every bit helps. I apologize if im comin off as a jerk but i hate when people pick out every little detail and criticize it, its almost like they WANT to irritate me. anyways, back on topic now! :)

I think it just looks like it was wrecked. The whole misaligned hood is what catches my eye and says, 'Wow, I'd fix that if it were my hood.' *shrug*

Once again.... I'm not a rocket scientist..... But show me these "tests" that show hood standoffs to pull air into the compartment at speed. The only way that could happen is if the air flowing in the front of the car was given immediate direction downward causing a suction effect. But last time I looked under the hood there was nothing moving the air down. Reason being...... there's no reason to move it down..... it will be sucked out under the car by the air travelling through the undercarriage. I'm pirdy sure I have a handle on simple physics enough to understand simple airflow.

Volkswagens use the standoffs a lot to allow air to be sucked into the engine compartment. Thats a good example of that..... But then again.... the hood on a beetle is opposite and that would actually work. I have a buddy in my car club with a 97 civic hatch....he's got standoffs. I asked him what that does for his car. His answer.... nothing. Its JDM and that gives me 10 more horsepower.

Aerodynamics of that lip as opposed to a full fledged carbon fiber race car are apples and oranges. You have a 4" tall lip and try to compare it to an F1 car. If you really think that your lip gives you more downforce then I've got a nice plot of swampland to sell you.

Good lookin car with a few lil things on it that need fixed. People are fixated on those little things cause they are the ONLY things you've done to your car. Its not like you've got 10,000 mods and they are nitpicking the fish eyes in the paint of your pillars. Yer car..... do with it what you will.... But old boy said above..... if it smells like shit, looks like shit and 20 people say its shit..... You probably shouldn't eat it.

Hey OB,

How does that front lip mount? Like, how does it say to actually mount it? Just two sided 3M tape or some type of clips? Just interested for when I do mine 8)

JESUS CHRIST! STOP THE FUCKING MADNESSSSS!!! Dog him all you guys want...if he thinks it looks good and thinks it can be funtional, then let it be! Don't try to prove him wrong because you CAN'T...it's his opinion and you're trying to prove him wrong by YOUR opinions...that just doesn't make sense! The downforce crap hasn't been tested, so noone knows if it does anything or not, so quit bitching about it! Damn, I hate playa hatas...

there is some kind of an effect that happens at speed. its the reason that the cowl induction hoods worked.

ORANGE NEONS RULE THEY CAUSE SO MUCH TROUBLE!!!!!!LMAO!!!!!

Seriously the car looks good. The fact that you even bother amazes me. I respect anyone that puts time in there car to be diffrent. When i first started out people used to make fun of me all the time " Why do you even bother hooking up a neon" and that used to suck. Now we do it to our selfs .. its funny being on the org and other websites to hear people dogging each other neons, when the rest of the world is doing it to us ALL. :angry2:

MADD respect! keeping Modding! 8)

This isn't a cowl induction hood. Its hood standoffs. The physics behind the two are different. One works on creating a higher pressure on the inside. The other the opposite way.

If you think OB is a playa because he's got skirts and a lip and talks about downforce.... You need your head checked. I look at the objective not the speculative. I'm in the Army... its what I get paid for.

There's a guy here with a Hyundai Elantra. Its an automatic. He's got ebay coilovers, ebay aluminum wing, ebay muffler that sounds like a folgers can, ebay herpes tail lights, along with an assortment of other cheap crap mods. We asked him why he even bothers with his dented bashed up Elantra..... to be different. If you saw this car or even heard it for that matter you'd dog the piss outta him. Its a bucket. Whoever said it is right..... we're not going to change his opinion unless he's willing to listen to reason.

People give me hell about doin stuff to my neon. I've spent way too much $$$ on it in all honesty. I don't do it to be different. I do it cause its the car I have and its in my blood. People ask my why I worry only about looks. I do it only because I know the car isn't fast and won't be. I'm not kidding myself. Now if OB had something to warrant the absolute need of cooling the engine compartment down as much as humanly possible..... Like say.... having 300+ hp.... then by all means standoffs would be understandable. Iunno.... I've got this thought in my head and I can't express it right..... maybe cause I'm part retarded. But I think yall get the point.

I said it before. Its a good looking car OB. Don't get me wrong. Just don't ruin it by doing silly cheap mods and making it look tacky. You wouldn't run your amp wire over your fender would you? So why not mount the lip the way its supposed to be? Apples with apples..... oranges with oranges. keep that brokeback mountain shit out in Wyoming.

I get u marakka but like supertrick said, no one can actually prove any of these points, including myuself, so theyre just opinions and thats that. its very easy to misinterperet what someone is saying via text, and i think a lot of the things i say dont make sense to others the way they do to me. basically, i dont think the lip gets me mad downforce, and i know damn well that i dont truly NEED the hood spacers for cooling. wants and needs are apples and oranges too. I like the way the spacers look, and based on the experience of racers in the real world, theyve been proven to have an effect on cooling performance, so to me its a good package. I like the way JDM-style cars look and perform and i like the whole philosophy behind that style of tuning. I applied some of what ive learned to an american car, and i come out with something a bit different. point is, its my car and i like it, and like many have said thats what matters. so everyone keep doin their thing and its all good.

Um........functional cowl hoods....

Interesting concept....100's of drag guys must be wrong......how the hell is a cowl different in concept than cracking open the back of the hood? You are still drawing air from the same resistive point on the vehicle ie: windshield. ANY hole in your cars is gonna' draw air at speed, hole-saw your doors and tell me what you get....cfm in your shirt sleeves...function, not fashion, I like it OB.
