Snapped a quick one....

Post by marakka » Fri May 12, 2006 7:09 pm

So I had to take the wheels back off to get them RE-polished and RE-painted after the paint started to flake and the polish pitted fairly bad on one wheel. So I'm back on stockers. And I'm STIIIIIILLLLLLLL waiting on the SRT body kit to come out of paint. Should have been done a week ago but the guy is taking his sweet time about it. Also have the rear winder spoiler thingie bein painted with the kit. I was going to wait til I got the kit on to do the vinyl.... but I got a good opportunity to have it done for the lowlow so I had the guy do it. One side got done today the other tomorrow... I know everyone says there car is filthy in the pics they take.... but mine is BEYOND that. Its covered in pollen. Let tha flame begin...

Image

And this one from a few weeks back with full SRT suspension and the wheels. I'm running SXT struts with Mopar stage 1 springs now. What a shitty setup. :(

What do the Mopar stage 1 springs look like with the drop? Do you have a pic of it?

Definitely not feeling the vinyls... :? Maybe it would look better with the SRT shiz?

My car's running stock struts with Stage 1 Lowering Springs... NOT a shitty setup. At least I don't think so. Better than riding 4x4 style.

No, he's not talking about the discontinued 2nd gen Mopar lowering springs...he's talking about the NEW stage 1 Mopar springs...those drop the car 25mm (1 inch).

"These heavy duty performance springs are designed for sporty handling combined with a comfortable ride. They provide a 25mm from the stock ride height."

Those are the springs he got...I'm assuming. Can ya back me up?

Ahhhhhhhh... I gotcha'. I was gonna' say - I love my springs/my setup. I'll be buying new aftermarket struts within the next few months though since I only have two survivors. :(

The srt stuff rode better... handled better... less body roll. But this setup is just soft. :(

The vinyl hopefully will look better with the SRT stuff. I thought it was going to be a darker grey when I got it. I wanted something just a shade above the black.

Image

Also... I had those same graphics on my car for a while as you 03sxt. But one lil block flew off on the autobahn. I tried to just order one side.... The guy wouldn't sell me just one. I wasn't going to buy a whole set. So... now I've got these. I'll grab some more pics today.

Now I like the looks of that car, but I think you're right. If the grey was darker like you wanted it, I think it'd look real good. That's quite a jump (in lightness) from what you were expecting, huh?

The mopar springs I got are exactly what you described above..... cept I didn't pay anywhere near that much for them.

And yeah.... MUCH lighter than I hoped for. They are a $249 set of vinyls that I picked up for a steal. The same car I posted a picture of above.... Wenzel...... he sold em to me. He got into a nasty accident and got a decent settlement for it. So he went with a lot more carbon fiber when they redid his car. He decided not to go with these and sold em to me for pennies. I think they'd look great on a blue car in this color. Just not too sure about them on black.

I've only got the one side on still, but I've had about 10 people comment on it. I'm kinda high profile on my post with the exhaust and hood. People recognize the car so when I change something like this they notice. In all honesty there are probably 300 neons on our post here. Maybe a handful have done anything to them.

If it weren't raining I'd be snapping pictures now.

 When I first looked at the picture I thought the vinyl was some sort of shadow. Man I am an idiot! If you got some rims that would match that vinyl it would look sweet. I think that SRT body kit is gonna halp alot too. Thats one shiny black car. :)

They are going to be the same as they were in the top set of pictures. You can't really tell, but the face is polished and the rear is painted black. The guy I had do them speaks NO english so I had trouble telling him what I wanted. I wanted the edges and lip of the wheel polished and the centers painted black. But he screwed it up and did it backwards. They ended up looking hot so I put em on. I'm runnin Firestone Firehawk WideOval 205/40 17's on em. I need some different suspension somehting fierce. There's a fella in the F/S section selling a set of 1gn springs matched to lower the 2gn, but I don't know if that'll do it enough. With the SRT suspension on (springs AND struts) I could fit a full 4 fingers between the fender and the tire with room to spare. The SXT stuff dropped it back down and the mopar stage 1's supposedly lowered it an inch. From what I measured I think it lowered it .5 cm. Not even a 1/4 of an inch.

Reason its so shiny through the pollen..... I JUST polished it a week ago. Full fledged buffer with polishing compound and a good hand waxxing. MMMHMMM.

hey, could you post a picture that shows the drop of the Mopar stage 1 springs? I was really interested in buying a set, but they only dropped 1 inch, and I didn't know if it would make a difference or not in appearance. Could you tell?

The mopar stage ones were a big disappointment. There's very little difference in ride height. So little that I can barely notice it. I only notice when I'm parked next to a stock neon. Ride quality is unchanged. Unless you can get em dirt cheap like I did.... don't bother.

I got the front bumper on last night, but it started raining as I was tucking the fog light plugs up into the lower valance. As I ran inside to get the camera.... it started hailing. No pics last night. *LOL* I gotta make a post about how to install the fog lights. I knew the passenger side was gonna hit the washer box.... but the drivers side is resting on my K&N intake. Iunno..... I gotta figure out a way to get the fogs in there. :(

*LMAO* Yeah.... I stopped driving and covered the car.

Nah... it weren't that bad of hail that I needed to cover the car. Although the thought did come to mind. Paint is still shiny..... more pics in the next few days.
