15" motegi trak lites (flat black)

Post by tamadrumr88 » Thu May 18, 2006 9:58 am

theyre flat black 15x6.5, they tip the scales at just under 10lbs each. the weight of the wheel/tire combo comes to ~28lbs!!!

i still havent decided if i like them yet or not... i go from stock 16's, to stock srt wheels and (huge) tires, to these little buggers.

this is what it looked like this morning... keep in mind i didnt wash the entire car, only the wheels

also, im currently rolling on yoko es100's in 195/50-15... the only reason i went with these is because i got them with still about 50% life left from an autox-er ('89 civic si) on honda-tech for $100 SHIPPED

they dont fill up the wheel well too well (say that 3 times fast :)), so ill probably go with the same tires again but in 225/50-15 next time

also, if anyones wondering... i removed the srt rear section because it was too loud (longtube, short cat, 2.5" piping and no resonators :)) so i found an 03 sxt muffler to put on while im getting my exhaust done

im not too happy about them either :(

they do save 14lbs at each corner compared to my srt wheels though, if that helps any. my theoretical gearing also comes to 4.06 (from 3.94) since theyre ~3% too small :) :) :)

Lol, trying to make your highway miles worst? I guess for autocross its optimal though.

i couldnt justify the bbs wheels for a few reasons, although they were a nice conversation piece

1) although im OCD about my car i couldnt stand the chance of EVER curbing them
2) they were way too heavy (my stock 16s weighed 4lbs less each... the acr wheels are just as heavy as srt rims/tires @ 42lbs/wheel & tire)
3) the rims pitted too easy considering how often i bathe my car (atleast once a week, and i only had them on for 1k miles)
3) i couldnt fork over $900 in addition to the above reasons

I know what you just said, but the ACR wheels were my fav, followed by the SRT wheels. The weight savings is amazing, and make the car handle amazing, but just not my style, car still looks hawt though!! 8)

they are nice, i like em but they are just too small, on ur car they look like they are 12's haha, the srt's looked very nice but the acr wheels were the best, imo

like i said, after these wear down ill probably step up to 225/50-15 es100's. even though the profile doesnt increase (on paper) the sidewall increase by about 15mm (.5 x 30mm increase) so hopefully thatll fill up the wheel well a little better

couldnt beat them for $100 shipped

if i was to get the stock size 15, itd be 185/60-15, i could go to 205/55-15 and thatd be about the same but im liking the sound of 225/50-15 :)

I like them, and I dont generally like black wheels. They look 110% better than the stock SRT wheels. (Tho I really dont like SRT wheels at all) The tires are what make them look a little out of place. I have 15" K1s on my car with 205/55 tires and they fill up my fenders pretty well.

Stock SRT wheels are roughly 23lbs per rim and they're only 6" wide. They are a great way to make your car slower.

The Trak Lites look sweet and they perform very well. No-brainer for me.

yeah the srt wheel/tire combo came to 43lbs, these come to only 28lbs :)

i was merging onto the highway yesterday and accelerating is effortless, only a little push of the gas is sufficient... where with the srt wheels i almost had to put the gas to the floor just to get anywhere

Heres a really old pic of my car with stock 15"s with 205/55 tires.
Image

And here is a more recent pic with 15" K1s and 205/55 tires.

I dont have any decent side shots uploaded right now, and I dont have the time just this second. But if you want more pics, let me know.

wow those tires really do fill up the wheel well alot more. i still havent decided on 205/55 or 225/50

i want the 225's for obvious suspension reasons although i think 225s a bit wide for the little 4 cylinder and they weigh about 2lbs more than the 205/55 and id rather them not be dragging on what little power i have

the 205/55 is lighter and probably cheaper...... hmmm
