BLEW MY FUEL LINE SUNDAY AND IT WAS FUN!

Post by grambo » Mon May 22, 2006 4:17 pm

After the lowering thing was done I test drove the car to a town about 30 miles away. After stoppinfg at the pool store I starte dthe car and POP. The elbow broke on the quick connect at the fuel rail. So Iwalked a 1/4 mile in the rain with my son and we bought some pretty hoses at Autozone. (aka: absolute shithole).
1/4 mile walk back and some wrenching in the rain =

I think the new bling fuel hose adds to the overall red/chrome/blue patriotic underhood waste of money...haha

Thanks guys.
And yes, its the factory rail. I've thought about spending big bux on a mahcined VENOM rail but, what's the use without a turbo?
I like the little chrome goody anyway. bling bling yo

I like your radiator cap ;) I have one that says M/Mopar on it ;)

I like the fuel line. I have a question though. about 3 months ago, I had to replace that same fuel line because at the back where the little filter/silver thing (dont know the name of it) is, it was leaking fuel. I was told I had to replace the whole peice and it cost me like $50 for that one fuel line. How did you just replace the hose and not that part of it? I could not get that part disconnected from the hose or I woulve done this instead.

I have to assume that little chrome thingy is a check-valve of some sort to keep the fuel up in the engine bay once it has been pumped up there.
I popped the quick connect off the car and put the whole thing on a (curb) workbench. I then cut the soft-outer rubber hose off of the check valve, then I very carefully removed the hard-plastic hose that is glued onto the barbed connector at the check valve. (I used and extremely sharp Leatherman, you could use an X-acto knife.)
The pretty fuel line is 3/8" OD Spectre fuel line. it cam in a 3' length, prepackaged for my ghetto-whitey convenience.
The hardest part was getting the new hose to slip over the shoulder on the fuel rail fitting. It took some serious muscle to get it past that shoulder. The check valve thingy just pops right back on at the quick connect near the firewall.
I use velcro to hold everything cuz i am constantly taking it all apart and it cleans up nice with the GUNK engine bright.
