Playing in the grass on three wheels.

Post by GTS » Tue Jun 06, 2006 6:09 pm

Well i got the sway bars on the car and here are a couple shots. My suspension is soft but i guess when i take tight turns i pop one of the wheels off the ground. I decided to test that and park on an uneven surface and sure enough the rear tire was in the air like 6in.

Car feels very sprty and stiff on corners but overall suspension ride and smoothness is rather comfy...

That looks sweet in the first pics, it almost looks like your car is in motion when your doing the 3 wheel stand! :D

Nahhh they are the good old cheap mopar sway bars that i got for somewhere ~130 from Mopar Super Center. Front one is 26mm Solid, and the rear one is the one from ACR SRT and its 19mm again solid. Poly-bushings all around and new sway bars, car feels stiff as hell...

It is so much fun to watch ppl's faces when you pop a wheelie on an AutoX or something. I am enjoying it to its full extent. Next I am thinking some Coil Overs and a different bumper up front.

that doesnt make the car easier to flip does it? seems dangerous if it were to happen regularly when turning hard corners, kinda defeats the purpose of upgrading suspension for 'gained traction' when 1/4 footprints arent even on the ground, wouldnt u think? cool lookin but wierd!

on some rwd cars like miatas and bmw's they tend to lift the inside front wheel... this moves weight rearward and removes one of your steering tires = teh suck

on our neons especially they have a tendency to lift the inside rear wheel. this places more weight over the front end and believe it or not, having that inside rear tire off the ground actually allows to car to rotate easier

IDK the car is solid as hell and feels more planted on the road then ever before. The squishy suspension i had actually scared me more than the current set up does. And from what i hear when doing AutoX i guess the tire if it lifts only does it like a 1/2 inch or it lifts the one corner of the patch but i havent seen any good photos yet where i can tell how bad it is.

Hey if i ever roll it over becausse of that guys i will make sure to let you all know about it so no one else gets hurt....

PTGT/ACR a.k.a "WELFARE" Sways:
26mm Front / 19mm Rear

Utilizes a PT Cruiser front swaybar and an ACR rear swaybar.
*Part numbers: Front-5085656AA $57/ Rear- 4656855AA $37

I painted them red otherwise they came coated in some sort of a black powdercoated like paint.

If he put a larger rear sway on he could probably get that rear wheel off the ground more.
