NEW MADDOG 72% REDUX STS

Post by grambo » Fri Jun 09, 2006 10:21 am

Its in the car! I thought the differences between the stock/B&M unit and the Maddog were cool though.....
Image

The Maddog is definately a wang extension...
Image

The new shifter is like shifting a Pro-Street drag car. Just little bumps to shift, little or no effort at all till I put the new Boogers on. Now its stiff as fug and takes some REAL effort to shift. Once the bushings are broken in, it will be badass. Nice, nice product. NO How To's the instructions are enough....even for noobs

it looks the same as any other shifter when its in the car, cuz its covered by the console and shift boot. that one is unusually tall tho, if i were u id chop an inch off before calling it a day  it'll put u around 80% reduction too

My shaft was THICK. The boot had a big hole from my THICK shaft. The SRT shift rod is not as THICK as mine. It fits fine into the base, just the shaft is so skinny compared my THICK old one. (j/k don't be sick dude)

Seriously, the SRT-4 shaft is a "standard" size and the shift boot on my stock stuff attached to the base of the shift knob so it was significantly larger than the shaft. lame.
Now I gotta buy one.

Sparco and momo have nice ones, but theyre for long shafts so i didnt go for one. id need a custom one that was 2" shorter than normal so it wouldnt wrinkle up. you'd be in business with one! momousa.com

doesnt maddog make specific STS's for our cars so that the boots will fit? I remember PM'ing him one time and he asked whether I wanted a regular Neon STS so that I could use my old boot and shifter or if I wanted an SRT STS so I could use the SRT boot and buy a new shifter...

HAHA I had mine for a while now. Great improvement over the mopar.

The shaft is taller on the srt b/c it has a ball that just pops on. Once your stock knob is on the shifter the top of the stock knob and the top of the srt ball are hardly any different.
