Hey Guys, This thread is for a cruise along an awesome road, let's not travel down the same road we've been down before.
George, I understand you and Matt have/had issues, but try and keep it civil, or take it to PM.
Random, please don't encourage this in here, if you want to discuss his business ethics, please do so through PM.

Whew.
As for the cruise, I would love to do this. A couple years ago, the thought went thru my mind, and I started looking up things online about the road, and various things along it. Sections of it are closed, by my understanding. But there are many great "landmarks" from the booming era, which are worth taking a peek at. This cruise can get quite long...but would be a great history lesson. I doubt many of you will be able to get the time off work, to do this.

Well, the best part about the whole trip is that you don't have to do the whole thing. That's the most appealing part of it, to me. Carlisle, and many other shows, it's in one place, you have to go to that place to see anyone. With something like this, you go as far as you want. If you only want to cruise with people for 20 miles, or 100 miles, or the whole way, it's your choice, and you still get to hang with everybody!

Well, when people are traveling from the East Coast, it would only be worth it, for them to travel the entire thing, to make the trip worth even starting. That's my outlook..

now that we're done with all of the off topic bull.....i agree with sean...the fact you can go as far as you want and turn back is great. I would be making the WHOLE trip since my cousin lives in cali, not TOOOOO far from LA(campbell area, which isnt far at all when you consider i'm coming from PA...)

I used to live off an actual section that can still be driven in MO. It is pretty beat up so anyone not to keen on the huge ass gaps in the asphalt seams, somethings can be arranged. It sounds like a blast and would be up for it though for safety reasons I think everyone should be required to have a navigator ride along.

I escaped San Bernardino, CA (the end of Route 66) two years ago this month. You couldn't drag me back. The trip itself does sound cool though.

Ok, so what we should do is have it set up so it's like a "relay".... we need to hand off the torch so to speak to whoever is going the next segment, and on and on.
torch... hmm... Maybe someone on the east coast can dig up a good-condition "Neon" badge from a 2GN and make a little plack with it on it, that says "2GN Route 66 Relay Run". Each yhear we can pass it across the US down route 66, and so in 2008 it would move eastward again.

Guys I've had this idea for a LONG time now, but this club is the best candidate
So then we need to design the plack. I think it should be simple, and have the 2gn logo engraved at the top, and the remainder to be large enough to have space for ten plates, each plate large enough to contain the names of the relay drivers. Each year a new plate is added to the plack, and in ten years there's an anniversary celebration with a national meet, one at the starting line and one at the finish line.
Sound good?
