Sounds like whoever changed the oil last didn't do a good job. A filter should not stick. Usually happens from idiots that over-tighten it. Same with the drain plug.

I feel like you'd have to damn near crush the filter putting it on to have a true issue taking it off.MyNeonSaysHi wrote: ↑Sun Jan 08, 2023 5:30 pmSounds like whoever changed the oil last didn't do a good job. Put some ass in it and heave lol
It's only one of the most accessible oil filters of all vehicles.

Yep they overtightened it, it's a simple job yet it was too hard to grab without lifting the car properly. So my buddy took it at Mavis for an oil change and it cost $14 dollars lol. He only used their lift and did the job himself which is cool.racer12306 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 8:37 amI feel like you'd have to damn near crush the filter putting it on to have a true issue taking it off.MyNeonSaysHi wrote: ↑Sun Jan 08, 2023 5:30 pmSounds like whoever changed the oil last didn't do a good job. I really need to get those suspension parts changed soon. They've all been sitting in my place for almost a year now. Not sure if the folks near me are interested in putting the car together before Carlisle (I don't know much shit about fixing cars lol) around springtime but we can. I'll buy lunch lol. Mainly struts and shocks, exhaust and maybe a new set of rotors.

Re: Saving a 2001 Dodge Neon R/T
So life got in the way so to speak the past couple of months and now finally getting back to this project.
First, we noticed some slight leak in the trunk. We'd notice a puddle where the spare tire would be so we changed the gaskets around the taillights. I don't know yet if these gaskets fixed it so we'll keep an eye on the puddles.

Plan is to replace the driver's side door next weekend. I found this door off an srt-4 sadly but at least it'll be put to good use; should be an easy swap. Next is to drop it off at a shop near my buddy's to get the suspension updated, install the sideskirts and the new exhaust. It's taken me almost a year to gather everything lol. I'm going to try these Spax lowering springs. They're made in the UK and follows the German TUV SUD standards so I'm hoping the quality to be good. Plus they'll only drop the car by 1.4" so nothing extreme.

I really need this car to drive back and forth to Columbia at my new job in about two weeks. The Golf will swap places with the Neon.

If you have new taillight gaskets, you should be good.
If for some reason it doesn't, load them up with black RTV and stick them back in.
Here's hoping Jerry doesn't need to pull the taillights on his graphite

What town to Columbia?

Hi Frank!
Yeah I need to go down to Belcamp and get this car going. I have everything to update the suspension.
I'll be driving from Reisterstown to Columbia to go to work next Monday.

Re: Saving a 2001 Dodge Neon R/T
It's been an eternity since the last update and after over a year of waiting, I finally updated its suspension
Dropped it of at Mavis Tire Center in Belcamp last week.

Just the smaller stuff are left to be done and it'll be good to go. I'm no longer going to replace the driver's side door, it's too much work to be honest for something minor. We'll just go the PDR route and see if that works.

Had the windshield moldings replaced last weekend. It looks much better now. I also snagged an r/t bumper in Manassas. I'm trying to figure out the most cost-effective way to address of the driver's side door and rear bumper...
