I got that same clear outer timing cover from Zaklee as well. I love the way it looks. It's much better than the nonexistent outer timing cover that I used to run lol.

What upper torque strut is that? I don't recognize it.
This is totally irrelevant but this comment is exactly 2 years old today lol.

How are you liking the Hyundai and Mustang?

The Mustang was nice, I understand why people love those cars. So much fun to drive. Decent power and it sounded great.

Once I got the title in the mail for the mustang i put it up for sale. Only took a week to sell it! I liked the car, but I got it for such a good deal from my neighbor. I made a very very NICE profit it on it.

I like the Elantra. Its like a modernized SRT-4. But its on another level when it comes to handling and tech. Unique car for sure, I have yet to see another one on the road. I will eventually put a tune on it. Just a tune nets 50whp on these things, guys tracking them left and right with a tune and no reliability problems. The gas mileage is amazing too, I got 39.6 mpg on a 98 mile trip. Since the gas mileage is great on it, I been driving it to work quite a bit.

In all honesty though I think my goal is to get a super good gas mileage vehicle like a new Prius, and have a sports car as my fun car. The Elantra is more a daily driver and I miss RWD. Still pondering what to do... I might sell my Acura and use that money towards a sports car and just daily the Elantra. Not sure what I am going to do. I don't want to have 3 cars. 2 is perfect for me.

Doing a roadcourse event in a couple weeks. 2, 20 minute sessions. Excited to really test out the handling of this car.
I got some OEM Hyundai goodies from South Korea. Alcantara shift knob, shift boot and center console lid replacement. These were offered on the Avante N in South Korea. Same car as the Elantra N here in the states, but the Korean spec has lots of options.
Image
The OEM shift knob is a pull off style like the Neon SRT-4. I have no luck pulling it off. I need a strong guy to do it for me. That sucker is on there good. I even used gloves with both hands! LOL

thanks I honestly didn't want to mess with the interior, but I think they are nice mods that make the interior a bit nicer, especially the armrest. No more hard plastic. There is also a alcantara steering wheel and ebrake replacement, but both those items would be like $800+ :( Borla also came out with a 3'' exhaust from the CAT back and its around $1700...YIKES!
Got the knob off finally. Sat on the center console and had one leg on drivers side and one leg on passenger side and pulled up! Came right off LOL. Just needed leverage. Spring went flying outside of the car, luckily I found it. All back together with new parts. New knob is a little bit heavier than the original.

FGot to do a fun non-competitive track event in the Hyundai. Car did well. Just too many people out there at once and only 2 areas to pass. Think there was 34 in our group. :(
Hardest part was waking up early and being there by 8am for a mandatory drivers meeting.
One picture I found so far:
Image

Got a set of used wheels and tires with correct TPMS for a great price from a local I could not pass up. Enkei Kojin 18x8.5 et50 with Continental DWS06 255/35/18. Front tires were low on tread despite only being a year old. But rears have quite a bit. So would rather wear the ones with the most tread so I put those on the front.
Not as light as my other Enkeis but lighter than stock setup. Stock with tires is 53.4lbs each. Kojins are 45.8lbs with tires.
Image
Image

Bought a lot of other parts from him too for cheap. Full AFE Takeda 3''exhaust, SXTH intercooler, Pierburg solenoid, Forge pressure pipe with SXTH BOV, SXTH CPLT intake. Already sold the intake. Not sure I want to run that big of an exhaust. Stock sounds good, but the AFE Takeda sounds good as well! VVV

Debating on installing the intercooler and boost pipe with BOV and solenoid.

Yes sir, such a fun car to drive around the corners!

PCM is really liking the cooler weather now, seems to pull a bit harder.
I added some white vinyl overlays to the chrome portion of the N on the front and rear badge. Looks better. I will get a picture at some point. Ordered from him before for the skirt ones, they came from Australia https://nstickers.com/

Was debating on getting a Lap3 performance tune due to a black friday deal. With spare ECU it would of been $13XX.00. Lot of money but would put me over 300whp easily. But I decided against it for the time being since I only have 5k mikes. I really don't want to void the warranty and haven't talked to the 2 Hyundai dealerships to see what they are cool with.

Been a while since I posted about the HunDay.
Added the 2024 style flat "H" badge on the decklid and the flat "N" emblem. Sold all those aftermarket parts including the black wheels I bought during the fall of last year for cheap and made a great profit! Decided to throw an intake on the car. Currently the only CAI available for the N. 3.25''. Only fits manual models. Frees up a lot of engine bay space and its nice to hear the turbo spool and you can hear the diverter blow off during WOT pulls. Does have quite a few bends though and its longer tubing. Might actually be a performance dehancer lol. Only air its getting is from the front of the car which disperses the air to it. Stock airbox actually has a ram air style setup. as you can see.

At least Injen is a name brand that has been around for quite a while.

So it does have that going for it!

lol true true. its a quality piece. I know intakes don't do much performance wise on turbo cars. Of course Injen says it adds UP TO 7hp/16tq, who knows how accurate that is. They just want to sell their product. I am just not sure if the trade off for sound is worth it. On the fence with keeping it.

Made a big purchase a month ago. Haven't installed it yet. Got a fresh OEM Hyundai ECU with a LAP3 Stage 1.5 tune on it. Also have a set of the HKS plugs to run with it. https://www.lap3usa.com/product-page/la ... tra-n-2-0t
Will bring power to 320-340WHP. These cars not octane learned Dyno around 240whp stock. So roughly 80 whp with just a tune. Pretty crazy
Image
Tuner recommends running 0w-40 or 5w-40 but I am going to stick with 0w-30 since that is what is on the oil cap and in the manual. 0w-30 is a great oil.
I am sure my MPGs will go down with the new tune, curious how well when just cruising around to work. Get pretty decent gas mileage if I stay out of boost.

On my way to work on a hot day, I didn't run the AC either

No more Elantra. Sold it. I liked the car quite a bit. But really wanted a 2 door. I also wasn't sold on the looks of it. It didn't feel too special to me.
Literally the last day I had the listings up and was going to take them down which is wild. I had someone other than a dealer quite interested in it. Older retired gentleman in his late 60's early 70's is my guess. Very nice guy. Somewhat local too from a nearby city. We met up and I drove him around. Then he drove it around the parking lot a couple times. I thought he just wanted to see it in person and had no intention in buying it. He said he would let me know in a couple of days. Didn't hear back from him by day 3 so I reached out to him out of curiosity. He then said he was very interested in it and wanted to talk numbers in person. So he stopped by and we made an agreement. Got my asking price + $1500 for the extra wheels and tires I had. :) Put the tuned ECU up for sale and catch can and got majority of my money back from that almost immeditely after having it listed. Only major item I have left to sell is the Injen intake. So now I am down to my trusty 146k miles Acura TL-S that needs suspension work LOL. Rattles going over bumps quite a bit. Everything is tight on the suspension but looks like one of the Koni's is blown in the front and they are only 2 years old. :(

Not sure what to get at this point as a replacement. More than likely a 2 door. Might just watch the car market in the shadows. Noticed pricing starting to go down. :)

funny you mention that. a very nice white one in oshkosh wisconsin popped up. $8500. Guy still has a lein on it though. Bought a black srt-4 in the past in Chicago that had a lein. Had to get the lein release at his bank when he sold it. Was a a pain because I had to wait over a month to get the title in the mail! So it just sat in my garage for a month before I could register/drive it.

I keep looking at used (obviously) Darts but can't afford one. I'd like a DD other than my mother's (17.7 MPG) Chrysler 300.

have you researched the darts well? What are the best years? I take it you would get one with a manual transmission? And that is horrible gas mileage for that 300. :(

I been looking into Miatas. Went to a local Mazda dealership. Cool little cars. RWD, 6 speed, 2341 lbs. 2025s supposed to have a power bump to 200. They are currently rated at 181hp/151tq. Not much power but lightweight and I am sure they are fun.

Trying to be patient as much as I can. Inventory is starting to pile up at dealerships.

Amazingly enough, I've been looking at ATX ones- never owned an ATX car in my life. The bad thing about Dart ATXs is that they were manufactured by Hyundai, not FCA. Number of miles concerns me more than what model year the car is but I would like a 2016 if possible. I can't afford anything anyway.

did not know that about the automatics.
sorry you are having money problems :(
I was looking at 2005ish Vipers as well. Not too crazy expensive. But I think maintenance would be very pricey. Honestly don't think I could handle that V10.

Neons on the road around me are far and few between. And very few of those are in good shape. Most that I see have barely enough metal left holding them together. One of them had a ratchet strap holding the rear door shut, because there was nothing left of the dogleg area to latch to.

Every now and then I see a nice 2gn, but that is a rare sight. There is a fairly decent magenta 1gn I see semi regularly, which I believe they are using for a DD. The clear coat is peeling, but it looks solid other than that.

Plenty of Neons around here since this is a factory town. Sadly, several Darts around here that already have rusted rockers and doglegs.

There was a somewhat nice red 1st gen coupe near me for sale that was maintained well lots of new parts, but paint was peeling off. Would of picked it up, but it was an AUTO. No thanks.

I did find a replacement for the Hyundai I would like to share! Went with an American made car again :) 2012 Chevy Corvette GrandSport 3LT with Centennial package. 6 speed manual. Has 42k miles. I almost didn't buy it. Owner wasn't the nicest guy. Seemed upset I wanted to look under the hood. He almost gave me the key and let me go on a test drive myself. I didn't feel comfortable doing that. :/ Title was clean and carfax looked good though. He owned it for 5 years and only put roughly 4k miles on it. I am aware of one issue he told me about: The rear actuator for the hatch release doesn't work too well. Have to press the button like 8 or 9 times before it opens. Guessing the solenoid is bad. Can't find that part new, probably going to roll the dice on a used one with warranty. Weird vibration at 74-75 MPH. Faster or slower it goes away. Tires are 8 years old. Battery is 4 years old. He told me all the fluids were replaced when he bought it back in 2019. Not sure about that. Going to take it to a shop that knows these cars well and have it looked over. Here are some pictures! Love the paint, was only available on the Centennials. Called Carbon Flash Metallic. I missed my 2010, glad to get back into a C6! Going to hold onto this one for a while! Feels more special than my base 2010 did.
