Cylinder 1 will be very lean. Probably 8%+ compared with 4. Make sure to tune excessively rich.
ASP - First NGC SOHC in the 13s and the 12s. First SOHC neon over 500whp. First NGC Neon on MS.

That's how it ran before....Cylinder 1 leaner than the rest. I had hoped this would help that....but you think it will stay the same or get even worse?

I think the manifold looks better than it did before. Without actually running a flow simulation I'm just imagining that the increased velocity at the far end of the plenum will result in relatively lower air pressure, thus proportionally richer AFR.

(if I ever get time, I'll trying wipping up a FlowWorks model, and see what it looks like)

So it's better than before, but still not quite enough to even out cylinder 1.

It looks like the inlet side of the manifold needs to be angled too - about 15 to 20 degrees.

Like so:

Ugh, I just want to see this car doing rolling burnouts. It's been a long time, and I've followed this log forever.

You're doing this all wrong. You are NOT supposed to use real engineering tools to design the best possible piece for your situation.

You ARE supposed to just throw junk parts on it and expect 700WHP.

Get it right.

Only thing that bugs me there is the engine was wide open during grinding.

Maybe I'm a bit anal about that....

I have to agree... the grinding/cutting thing was quite a bit awkward. And I was the one doing it. Rats.

Don't feel too bad, I have caught myself doing the same thing at times. Then realize I'm getting ahead of myself.

No grinding debri went in the engine, but with the amount of grinding we're still going to have to do for other things, the towel needs to go back in place.

Currently taking bets on how much plastic needs to be removed from the from bumper to fit it over that inter cooler....my guess is that it won't fit.

My guess is that we will make the bumper cover work... and it won't be hard.

Thanks dude.

The car is up on jackstand again for a short bit, getting the wheels all balanced, and installing new rotors and pads all around.

I'm also fixing the wastegate linkage that broke, redoing the vacuum lines from turbo to boost controller to WGA, and cleaning a few things up. Plus, installing a good catch can and an all aluminum radiator.

I pulled all the plugs, and they look fine. Rich, but not horrible. To be on the safe side initially I had it hitting 10.0 AFR in the higher boost part of the VE table, and I also had it running a little too rich in vacuum. We averaged about 28mpg on the trip when we cruised at 75mph....but did get a whopping 34mpg out of one tank that had a slower average speed due to construction and traffic. That said, my cruising AFR in the 50-80kPA range is a little too rich, and I need to pull some of that fuel out. As far as boost goes, I'm going to tune for an 11-11.5 AFR in boost, and see what the plugs look like and how it runs that way.

Damn, that's good gas mileage for being turboed. Nice.

Rear brakes are done, and the fronts are in process.

Dad picked up a 180 degree thermostat at Vatozone yesterday. The 195 degree thermostat was just too hot...hopefully we can keep it at or under 200 all the time with the 180.
