Glasswars: Getting Ready for Spring/Summer [update 3/16]

Post by glasswars » Mon Feb 12, 2007 9:37 pm

It's Febuary 12th, 2007. Where do I currently stand? Right now, I'm very :? about my cars current condition. It is not where I want it to be right now. For anyone that does not know me and/or are newbs to the board this is my car:

Image

I mean, I do like my car, but there is A LOT that has to get done before I can truly enjoy it.

My mods as of now are:
-17" Kyowa Wheels in Kumho 205/40/17 tires.
-Custom paint, Nissan "BW5".
-Carbon By Design Fiberglass PVO Spoiler.
-Carbon By Design Fiberglass Eyelids.
-Euro Taillights, smoked 20%.
-Smoked sidemarkers, 20%.
-Blue Rockblocker film on Fog and parking lights. (I don't really know why it's on the parking lights. I had extra I guess, haha.)
-Blue calipers and drums.
-Ebay Antenna.
-EuroDezigns Head and Foglight bulbs. (FTL )
-Ebay Front & Rear Strut Tower Braces.
-Alpine Headunit with iPod adapter.

What's coming up within the next month (to be completed by 03/15):
8000K HIDS.
Blue or yellow stained foglights. (Can't decide what color yet.)
Lowered on Tein Springs (2 inches) supported by Tokico Struts.
Ripping off the blue rockblocker on my parking lights, installing 'chrome' turn signals (clear when off, amber when on), ripping off the smoke film on my side markers and ordering a can of niteshades to spray them both with.
Also I might possibly be putting my old 00-02 R/T wheels back on, spraying them black.

After that:
The paint is in very bad condition, as it is fading on the bottom of my bumpers and under the doors, and the huge bondo spot on the left of my rear bumper (No jokes TNK.) there is going to be a nice respray of car, possible civic siR front lip, possible R/T sides. Also will be molding eyelids to hood and PVO spoiler to trunk. And some misc. Carbon Fiber accessories by rice_eater ofcourse.
Rear sway bar also.

My goal is to have all of this done by Late April/Early May. I just want to be crusing down the street with the windows down and the music up and say to myself "Damn, I love my car."

So in 2 weeks I will be ordering the HID's, springs and struts. Stay tuned.

Thanks for reminding me Kplaya, those things are definetly gonna come off. And turboneon the rims now are a black/gunmetal type deal, I will be lowering it but Tokico struts are much stronger than kyb's, espeically since I'm going to use Tein springs. Thanks for the input.

Update 02/25: Yellow fogs have now been ordered, I'm getting used TEIN springs from blazesxt04 for $100, and HIDS will be ordered next week after my next paycheck. It's finally coming together.

damn man, sounds like you're doin some pretty slick stuff to that ride of yours.

1 question though.....CAN you remove your side mouldings? I mean....if your car is aftermarket painted, won't the old "stock" color be under the side mouldings?

Keep up the good work man.

I got something in the mail on friday.. a pair of JDM Yellow fog lights! These bulbs easily, easily shit all over stock, silverstars, or eurodezigns. I would know because I've had them all.
I also have my 8000K HIDS on order from http://www.srt-4store.com so they should be here in 1-2 weeks.

Blue when off.. (Also, I took the blue rockblocker off the turn signals.)

Yellow when on!

A pretty accurate depiction of what my lights look like color wise.

2 Second shutter, 2.8 aperture, ISO 80.
Note the yellowish hue area where I pointed to. While the fog light housing iis designed to do this, never have I had fog lights that helped so much.

Image
10 Second shutter, 2.8 aperture, ISO 80.
Again, the fog lights are strong as hell, and are only 37.5 watts, they reach extremely high and get the output really far and wide. For anyone who wants yellow fog lights, this is your choice. IMO painting is not a good option with the krylon unless you want blue fogs since there really aren't any really blue bulbs around. But for yellow all you need are these bulbs and yellow rockblocker.

I love driving with just the headlights on, then turning the fogs on to see what a difference they make. That could also be because I have shitty ass ricer bulbs for headlights, haha. Either way, I highly recommend these bulbs.

Okay so a little late on this but I finally got the New Jersey decal on my back window, cost me 20 bucks at American Graphics Co. in Fairlawn. It's in Bright Metallic Silver, and none of you guys like it. :thefinger:

Today I got the 2gn.org sticker to go with it.

Matching silver!

Heres a dilemma that's going on right now.. I ordered the 9007 HID kit from SRT-4Store, for my (stock) halogen housing. Then I saw pictures in the review section of what the eBay projectors can actually do when equipped with HIDs. I like! So now when I get the kit I am either going to sell it and get a H1 kit to fit the ebay projectors. Or just keep the kit and buy H1 bulbs and sell the 9007 bulbs. :beatstick:

I love it. Drilled a 3/8" hole in the bottom pocket and ran the wire to the factory dimmer for the radio and the ground. Looks great. Haven't driven with it at night yet though, fucking snow storm. :ranting:
Also had my car weighed this week:
Image

Image
3/4 Tank of gas I weighed in at:
Total Weight: 2730
Total Weight with me in it: 2880

Front Weight: 1730 (63.3%)
Rear Weight: 1001 (36.6%)
Right Weight: 1390 (50.8%)
Left Weight: 1350 (49.1%)

Front Right Weight: 879
Front Left Weight: 856
Rear Right Weight: 480
Rear Left Weight: 515

I wish I could get coilovers and tune the suspension to the specific weights, but I don't have the money for those. Good info to know though.

In the mail now:
-Chrome Halo Projectors
-9007 8000K HID kit. (Selling the bulbs.)
-H1 6000K HID bulbs.

Dropping so much money so fast. I haven't even bothered to try balancing my checkbook in the past 5 months, hahah. :banghead:

Believe me Josh I definitely know that what I'm spending is nothing compared to others. But on the other hand I don't really make that much money as I only work part-time and am only 18.
