Thanks guys...

They are getting nicer and nicer every day :P

They sit lower in the car so my knees don't hit the steering wheel AS much as before. Oh and actual back support is great.

They look awesome man!

I wish I could find some SRT Viper seats for a reasonable price in good shape... I guess I'm dreaming.

Its been a while since I've done anything to/for Audry, but recently I've taken the first step towards a new and exciting long term project. The purchase of:

Image

No, I'm not installing this hood on my car.

This hood is going to be the starting point for the plug I will be using in an attempt to create my own custom carbon fiber hood. I want some very specific things in a CFH that I can't seem to get or people won't make out there in the market. So I am going to attempt to do this myself (with help of course).

The Idea:
- I want to keep the car clean and questionably a sleeper. One thing the SRT hood does is draw too much attention with the hood scoop.
- I will be addressing the issue of the SRT hood and gappage on SXTs

That is the immediate goal.

Oh! Please, if you have information that will help me please DO!!!

I've looked in to trying a Silver Carbon Fiber, but my research has proven that to be very impractical due to fading, yellowing, or the time limitations of the resin needed for a quality job (5 mins to set a whole hood?? nah i don't think so).

So we are most likely going to be using regular black carbon fiber and are looking into paint alternatives that will show the carbon fiber but also appear silver, but that is a long way off and first we need to make the molds.

Hudson Neon was nice enough to let me use some photos to help conceptualize the hood which I think will be very clean

And again, this will be in CF because that is what I want.

I do not have a time table on this, and I still have a lot of research to do, so if you have information on HOW TO or Materials, SHARE THEM PLEASE.

Awesome. I love the SRT bulge on the hood. It's gonna look tits.

This is gonna be a nice project! Finally something new and different!

I agree, the SRT bulge is nice, but the hood draws attention, and the stock hood is too flat / plain.

Maybe ask z3roneo about how to do this. He has worked on his fiberglass hood lots of times before.

so you are going to design a hood like this or are you going to take srt hoods and do this to them?

I'm using the SRT hood to help create the mold. I have to do some work to it to get the shape that I want, but it has the overall shape to start from.

So I'll be filling the hood scoop and smoothing it out towards the front and then I'll also be addressing the gap issues at the front (if any exist).

It'll exist. I've noticed a HUGE gap on 00-02 and still a prevelant gap on 03-05. I'm stoked to see this done. There were more chops of this somewhere...

If you're going to make this from scratch, then I'm guessing the end product will be a single piece of fiberglass instead of having those braces and support things on the underside of the hood.

And also, if you're making it, I'm sure you'll make the hood longer in the front to fill the gap.

There will be an outside mold and an inside mold for bracing. The bracing may be different from the SRT hood's bracing due to the lack of the scoop and some other ideas I may have that just haven't been planned out yet.

yeah, that isn't real carbon fiber that they are selling, but rather a fabric that resembles carbon fiber. Interesting though some of the things they have. Thanks!

In looking at my hood I have found that if the leading edge of the hood could be bent down slightly, it would eliminate the gap and match the 00-02 headlamp lines perfectly.

While it sounds simple enough, the area to be bent is where the extra bracing for the hood striker is. Just bending the outer most edge wouldn't be a smooth enough transistion IMO.

I have plenty of pics you can use as reference if you like.

My idea is someone needs to just make a CF SRT hood with the front edge lining up with 03+ neon bumpers. As far as I know it doesn't exist, and that's really odd to me.

Very interesting. Never realized how big the bulge was on my hood. So the simple idea is to keep that bulge but no scoop?.. Very curious on how this turns out.

Yeah, that is the simple idea. Going to also do hidden/key'd hood pins and hydrolic lifts for the hood as well.

Got the exterior part figure out, but I'm also having to figure out the underside and proper bracing and ventilation. I want the bulge portion to be vented when it comes up to the firewall, but I'm not sure how I'm going to do that yet.

Found a decent forum that deals with composites and working them so I've found my place for research and development.

As this is a cool idea, I find it to be somewhat pointless for SRT-4 owners/swaps. As it restricts airflow for "cooling" purposes.
