I ordered my FIRST engine upgrade for the rebuild...

1gn DOHC pistons/rods... I will be buying replacement rings for them.

I will post pics of them upon arrival....

On a side note I got my Prothane Front Swayar endlinks finally. Goes in tomorrow.

I will be putting the caraway this summer and using my dad's car... basically my dad is getting surgery and will not be driving so he is lending me his car for the meanwhile... I will be pulling the head, timing belt, water pump, tensioner, oil pump, pistons, rods, crank, oil pan, and tranny... I will be replacing the pistons, rods, crank seals, rear main, water pump, oil pump, all gaskets, cleaning up the intake manifold, installing a crank scraper, adjustable cam gear, new belts, Adam K. ODP, balancing crank (maybe knife-edging), maybe even taking in the block and having a shop work it over...

Basically a complete engine rebuild on the bottom, cleaning up the intake, maybe porting...? :D

Updates to come.

Awesome! So when is this all going to happen? We can have a, "Work on Andrew's Car Day Because He Always Helps on Ours" :D Then we can watch those ricer movies. (See meet section.)

I have 2 weeks paid vacation coming up! 26th of May to June 8th And would love to come by and help out. I still have to work at the auto place though on random days, mostly Saturdays, and Fridays and a couple other days. So let me know.

How many miles are currently on your car by the way?

92000 miles....

I am gonna have to get a lot of down time, so I am collecting parts over the next few months, then in July I will be pulling it all apart. Gonna be fun, srsly.

I hope to be able to get the bottom end out of the car completely and get the crank out to get it into the shop. I will be buying some more parts this weekend. Possibly the crankscraper, head gaskets, oil pan gasket, and maybe the timing belt, oil/water pump.

Nice man! Just don't go to Burlington Performance. Check out my engine swap log for details why. I'm so pissed right now.

Just out of curiosity, did you get your waterpump from the dealership or did you get an aftermarket one?

Well, update:

I got pulled over today for the first time in like 4 years, and I ended up getting a warning. I got pulled over in this little suburb of Gladstone called Oak View. Quick story, the Police Chief of Oak View is an old friend of the families, and I just talked to him a few weeks ago...

so anyway, the officer said he pulled me over because I failed to signal...

I calmly explained to him that I did signal.

He says, well you need to turn it on WAY before you signal.

I asked him when it was that I failed to signal.

He said back on the street.

I said well, I use my signal religiously, but what I was wondering was which time, because I changed lanes twice, once when I was getting ahead of a KCPD car with number 199, the second time was when I changed back to get around the Ford F150 which was making a left hand turn.

He said... nothing. Then asked me what the % tint is on my car.

I said 35% in front, 5% in back.

He asked for my license and went back to his car, came back with a tint tester thing and put it on the window. It showed 16%

I was aghast, and explained to him I have had it on there since 2005, and asked him if I could show him my receipt for it.

He says sure, but the facts were that it was 15%. He asks me to make a choice then, to take a ticket for failing to signal or the tint.

I said tint. He goes back to the car, and comes back 3-4 minutes later and says, I am letting you off with two warnings.

I said thank you Officer George (his name) and he said I need to remove the tint off the window - get it fixed or else.

So I went to the tint shop, asked them how much, they said $20... I asked how to DIY... He told me and I went to my parents house and - BOOM. It's off now, looks good, but I miss the tint. PIcs to follow.

sounds like you got kind of lucky and pwned that cop a little. Sucks though that you took off your tint. I would of asked to look at the tint test myself, because he could of just been lying if he didn't really know what was going on with you and signaling.

I saw the tint test... but I was shocked at first because it was even lower than I thought

Either way, the tint is off, and I am safe for now.

I think I did pwn'd the officer because I explained my entire situation about switching lanes... I even was able to name the cars that were all around me, and I told him I saw him sitting there at the stop sign... I asked him why I would NOT signal, knowing that there was 2 cop cars around me  Ah well, I know what I did, and he let me go... but I think he let me go because of the Police Chief who is a good friend of the families. He still goes out to eat with my dad no and again, and I have delivered him pizzas at night where he moonlights (Liberty Hospital). now to get legal tint on it.

I got a complete Felpro head gasket set - $140
I also got a Gates timing belt - $55

Next, tensioner and piston rings... then comes the tear down, well... not until July 22nd or so.

Once I have all the parts I may post a few pics of it.

Found out our cars come with 76% tint from the factory. So when you add on 35%, it's usually 20% or lower.

Can you tell, is that what I have, or did the previous owner darken it more? I've always wanted to know what % mine is.

^^^Ask a cop to do it

Honestly, yours looked lighter than mine use to... I would say it is at legal tint, 35% at least.
