guys, the second rad fan is for the air conditioning.... if you dont have AC you dont HAVE to have the second one... obviously, if you're gonna look for one in a j-yard, look for neons with AC...
seriously though, just use your own, you'll be fine...
also, take the opportunity to just upgrade your intercooler instead of buying another used stocker... it's a good started intercooler, but at the track it's heat soaked after one run....

While getting another fmic would be a good idea, David isnt doing the swap for track runs really...that and last time i checked, he cant actually afford a $400+ fmic..... The stocker will get him going for a while until he can afford to do upgrades...

sheit... man... the engine alone is a huge upgrade.... gotta have some time to get use to it before changing that bad boy up...
Hows the swap comming along?

Motor came today. Read after the pics for the explination for the water soaked box.....
Ok, so anyways.
UPS called me friday to schedule a time to drop off the motor. I told them I worked until 4 and to NOT DELIVER IT BEFORE 5PM.
While I'm at work, douchebag truck driver calls my phone 3 times and leaves a message for me to call him back. This was in the span of 12:18PM until 12:58PM. When I finally was able to call him back at about 1:15, he told me that he just dropped off the motor without a signature since he was already in the area and wouldnt be back in the area for the rest of the day (regardless of the fact that i TOLD THEM NOT BEFORE 5PM AND THEY SAID OK). So i'm not very upset yet becuase its nice and sunny outside, sky looks decent......4PM rolls around, I get off work and as i'm driving, clouds were noticably DARK and wouldnt you know it...it POURS DOWN RAIN!!!!! WITH THE MOTOR STILL OUTSIDE!!!!!!!!!
SO. UPS needs to fire his ass and hire COMPITENT drivershat know how to LISTEN. I called UPS and gave them an ear full, which the manager at the New Stanton warehouse told me he would then also give to the driver, one for leaving it with no signature, and two for not sticking to the pre set schedule.
Thank GOD that Mopar wraps the motor in LOTS of Celaphane(shrink wrap), then puts a very heavy plastic bag over it, then puts a triple wall heavy corrugated box over top of it...it kept the motor well protected and dry. Had ONE DROP gotten on this OVER $1k shortblock(after shipping), UPS would have had one huge ass bill to pay, because i would have refused it, and they would be forced to pay for a new one becuase their driver did not follow the instructions set forth for him.

Now to just put everything together, get dave's car up here, and get it in

so thats great... now some 'real' work can actually begin on the motor.
and i love how they leave 500 dollars worth of rubber just sitting infront of the house (not in any kind of boxes so anyone can see 'hey, free new tires'
or in your case, a $1k block. a little rain? be happy you dont live in a high crime area! im glad i dont or i would have been missing some tires.

hey, we were having a debate on our local srt forum... the question was, if you swap the srt engine in an 00-03, will you need to redo the harness inside the car, or is that only for the 00s? Someone then said that you need the interior harness for ALL the years... wth?? who is right?
anyway, any progress? I dont want to buy, but i'm still playing with the idea of piecing the parts and dropping them in my 05SX for winter beater fun... i know how to put the actual engine in, but i'd like to see first how hard everything else is

not really... the 2.4 is low compression, so NA the 2.0 would probably beat it in the real world drag race.. whenever i blow a charge pipe off my srt, the car feels even more gutless than my SX, and it totally sucks balls

not true at all.....they did a dyno run on srtforums to prove it....updating to a larger FMIC without the mods to support it lost HP....yes the cold side air was drastically colder, however your sending the same amount of pressure through a much larger area, so OBVIOUSLY, less comes out faster and therefore, less boost, less HP....in addition to the larger core of the FMIC, it has many more fins and passages, which just means more distance the ait has to travel and your little stock turbo just really doesnt need that big of an FMIC to work great

well, i know in that in REAL LIFE people here in calgary running stage3 and supporting mods would have heatsoaked intercoolers after one run... i guess maybe it's not a huge issue on the smaller stock turbo, but the way i see it, maybe one day he will have money to up the boost, and since intercoolers arent THAT expensive, maybe just get a bigger one from the beginning
sure you'll have a slight pressure drop, but cold intake air also tells the computer to add timing, and being an SRT, it has plenty of room to do that, especially if you're on shitty gas... also, i'm sure you already know that lower boost doesnt have to mean less power.... tune the car properly and do some small mods and you're gonna need a bigger intercooler, and it's not like you have to worry about the engine being able to handle it... we have locals with properly tuned stock turbos in the high 12s, and our DA is usually around 4500-5000ft, and they all run big intercoolers

Sorry About not updating this for so long, but there haven't really been any updates till now, the swap is happening this week, because otherwise my car doesn't go anywhere, since i killed my trannsmission

I've started stripping my interior while matt is at work. and I'll try to load some pics as soon as i can.

So you paid Matt several thousands dollars to do all the work himself, and you're helping?
I thought it was just a matter of, drop car off, pick car up later?

naw im sure matt and him worked out a something regarding that, and matt has dave living with him while the swap is going down. The reason the swap is going down this week is due to daves trans going out at the show.

^the update Dave living with Matt till swap done. Dave can't go home till car swap is done. Matt want dave out of the house. Swap get done as quickly as possiable.
I kid I kid. But no really lives are being stopped till swap is done. So it gets done sooner then later.
An Opi you wouldn't have needed an update had you come to carlisle.
