No don't apologize, let me apologize for not declaring I was going to rebuild the engine. I assumed it was obvious from the pictures that I posted showing the condition it was in.

I'd also like to apologize for being overly defensive, but it seems that you are out to get me with every grammatically incorrect post you make. Case in point:

Maybe I should do that when I do my swap.

if you had to ask how to remove your motor there's no way you would be able to conjure up a RWD swap.....sorry but the truth
See: http://forum.2gn.org/viewtopic.php?p=298051#298051

Yet I don't see where I asked how to remove the motor.

^ dont quote me on this but i belive upgrading the pistons and rings, i know there is more but it starts upgrading the internals, talk to evilcreations or brad (refect), but i figured since your gonna end up tearing into the motor might as well build it up ready for more power.

well first of all whether you build it or not, your going to have to get the block decked and bored due to the water damage.....if your stock rods are salvageable use them since they are forged and get either some wiseco or je pistons and use some arp rod bearings, rod bolts, and head bolts.....head will probably need a p&p and have new valves installed....just get some 2.0 cams and you'll be cookin....you also might want to have the trans rebuilt and use a stage 1 exedy clutch, its always been my fav  parts your looking at a little over a grand, but the motor work will be pricey and good luck finding a local shop that will touch it

i can honestly say that i think you got shafted.....i would throw that motor on ebay and get a better motor to start with.....your probably going to spend more to rebuild that one than you would selling it and buying a new one....all my local shops wanted close to a grand just to deck the block....i mean you can find a stock short block in good shape for that price alone

Any ideas for places to get one that's actually in good shape? That may be the way to go.

my question is did the people tell you that it had water damage, and my main concern is did the motor lock meaning was it running when the water breached the motor?

Well they only said that it was involved in a passenger side impact, and that they hadn't tried to start the motor since then, but there was no damage to the front end.
