Yup I still remember the time you did your Stage3r install. You did most of it all by yourself too. Took you two days correct?

What order did you do the install in? Fuel pump, PCM, turbofold etc

Did you move the engine forward a bit to make the turbofold go in their easier?

Any other random tips?

Did it all by myself except a friend of mine loosened one bolt on the coolant line, brought me a new Oil Drain Plug, and Took me to the gas station so I could fill my gas can up. The entire install took about a day and a half.

I did it in a weird order, Injectors, ECU, Sensors, Turbo, then Fuel Pump.

Be careful with the fuel pump, run it as low as you can run it and make your however you support the tank with is sturdy so you don't dump all kinds of gasoline on yourself. :)

I didn't move the motor at all. I just took the window cowl off to make it a bit easier to get to the back of the motor.

Make sure you go onto SRTforums and read some of the S3 install threads, especially about where to cut the oil dump tube. I also have a Complete Service manual for the SRT4 if you need to see anything.

Get all your supplies ready before starting. Go to the store and buy oil, coolant, drain pans, a cooler, beer/soda/water, ice, snacks, shop rags, any tools you don't have, etc. My garage was completely stocked before I started. Allowed me to continue working and get it done faster.

Its early and I'm getting ready for autocross.. so if you have any other questions let me know and i'll answer them as best I can.

Thank you.

I do have the I-Sheets Stage3R Turbo Kit & Turbo Toys on CD the previous owner gave me and he also has it printed out.

I have been reading the Stage 3 feedback thread. (250 pages) There are a couple random install tips that I noted but mostly rambling about WGA's and HOM.

Will look for install pages...

As for the fuel pump. We all know the neon gauges are inaccurate. My scan gauge will say 1 gallon left of fuel I will fill it up and it only takes 9.4 gallons.

Install won't happen for a while. I still have to send out the ECU to Flight Systems for the flash and I also have to send out the turbo for a rebuild, hopefully the turnaround time isn't that bad.

You don't need to send it out to Flight Systems, you could have it done at a dealer local to you. I've re-programmed my own with a DRB III that a friend had. Its really that simple :)

don't know anyone with a DRBIII plus... I have an 04 the kit came off of an 05 so they have to do something with it due to it throwing the battery light. Going to cost $57 plus shipping my way. Dealership charged $100 plus tax to install and flash my Stage 1. :banghead: Wish I knew about Flight systems.

I'm doing a 2004 Stage 2 w/Toys Install on my 2005 so I'm doing this mod if I can't find someone to swap with.

Why pay $20 for the fix when Flight Systems will correct it?
I don't think you will have problems with an 04 kit going on your 05, its the other way around I believe.

My friend bought the re wire kit from S&P and it didn't work. Good job and getting FS to fix it.

Yeah I knew about it before hand and when I called Stephanie at Flight systems she let me know they can fix it for another $10.

Are you going to run the stock surge valve/blue plate?

You know what's funny is that I came across one of your old posts on SRTforums about the blue plate. It was something liek "LOL @ people using only the gasket. You gotta use RTV"

But when i said that same thing here I got flamed. Funny!

Well the 03 and 04 have the battery sensor and the 05's don't. The 03/04 PCMs Look for the sensor and throw the light on. I wonder if you can disable it with the DRB Tool.

Unfortunately yes. I will have to upgrade due to a hardpipe kit due to the high boost levels I will be running. Atleast I will be able to seal it up well since its OFF the car and take my time. Probably just use the Right Stuff by Permatex or Black RTV.

Haha yeah I remember that post kind of. People were just using the gasket thinking it would be fine. But the gasket wears out over time. (Very thin) Thats why I bought a thicker gasket and was going to sandwhich it with some RTV. But I hear just black RTV if ucred right will work great.

Interesting, didn;t know that.

I will be sending off the PCM sometime this week to Flight Systems. I am going to give them a call and make sure everything is fine and they aren't behind or some shit.

Forward Motion will actually rebuild my turbo and put a new iconel wheel in for cheaper than Form & Function.

Could you take a picture of your PCM Connectors on the Toys Harness for me? The harness I have has the pins cut off and I need to order some new ones to solder on but not sure which ones to get.

Sent you a PM on this.

Will do Dave.

Funny you mentioned that Mox, I bought a like new Boomba BOV for really cheap. It was like $40 shipped. I read about it causing surge problems and a bunch of other jargon and I ended up selling it a couple days later. Might be good for the Stage 3 though... I just don't wnat to leak boost and from what I ahve read, boost leaks on Stage 3 really affect performance night and day compared to the stock turbo.

News:
Shipped out the Stage 3 PCM to Flight systems today. $57 which includes shipping back... I paid $16 to ship it to them via UPS with $350 insurance. So $73 to take care of that.

I also un-did the V-clamp on my S3 and I will be shipping that out soon to Forward Motion for a rebuild and a new Iconel wheel. $267 with tax. Not sure how much that will cost me to ship but it will be packed very nicely.

Here she is, you can see the 3 chipped fins on the TIAL wheel.

Nope.

Not sure where I am going to do it at. AJ seems really busy with his stuff and has another SRT-4 at his place that is going to have major work done on it, plus another local SRT guy is bringing over his in March to have a 50 trim installed.,, Plus he will probably be working on his own car...

Might take it to Jarreds, not sure though since he doesn't have much space in the garage to fit another car.

Its all still up in the air.

LOL Its a jewelry store commercial! I have to take my turbo apart and have it coated :). And the install seems very straightforward from what I'm reading. Unless you gather differently.

I loved my Boomba BOV and never had any issues with it leaking. My car didn't have a single boost leak when I traded it in.

I try to stay out of others peoples business when it comes to stuff like that.

That commercial is old as dirt!

Yes, the install seems pretty straight forward which is good. I might look for a used Boomba BOV again.

I was told of the "3rd gear cable crossover adjustment" Thought I would give it a try and see if it would help the notchiness...

All you basically have to do is take off the shift knob, the boot, and the center console. Leave car in 3rd gear.

On the drivers side is a 8mm bolt...

Image

Its black and on the left of the booger bushing.

All you do is loosen it up to give the cable slack. Kind of hold the cable in place by pushing on the opposite side while you are tightening it down again. Test drove around the block and there was more of a smooth transition going into second and third... Well know more on my way to work tonight to really be able to tell. First impressions are pretty good.

While I had the center console out I decided to clean it up. Took some light dish soap and some water and went over the entire thing. Dried it off and got out the mothers back to black. Didn't put much on it, but I went over the entire thing and in the crevices.

Image

And does anyone know what this is?

Image
There is a bunch of wires going to it and its like a outlet for a plug...

That would be your SRS airbag control and the Plug is for an SRT equipped with the Side Impact Airbag Seats.

Thats a plug for the automatic neons. I saw it when I took apart an 01 Plymouth Neon. The light to illuminate the P R N D etc was plugged into it. It should just have a power and a ground. The ACM is the module right in front of it.

You two are contradicting each other!

Why would they leave something extra like that out of a basemodel Neon? Sounds like it would be for the airbag seats more than anything...

I have a bunch of pictures I took of all the Stage 3 goodies... Including the ever so fun wiring harness.

Ha ha yes we are. I'm stating that because when I took a regular neon apart, that's what the harness was there for. Alot of times they don't change the harness because its cheaper to make the same harness for all neons. He could very well be right, but I've never seen the interior of a car with SRS seats so I'm unsure.
