FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Ran it 9 times this evening. 3 times all motor, the rest nitrous. All my nitrous runs were on a 65 shot, and I turned it on in 2nd (well, one run I forgot and turned it on in 3rd). When I had started running it was like 92 out, my last run it was 72 or so out. Track temps were 108 at the beginning, and 100 at the end.

First 6 runs I was doing burnouts, holding the e-brake and then dragging it out, but it started wheel hopping pretty hard. The last 3 runs I just hit my two-step and launched out of the burnout box and let off when it started to grab, it worked really well for my DR's.

Here's the spreadsheet.

Image

Every run that I used nitrous it was back firing when I'd shift 2-3 and 3-4. The last run it backfired really hard going 3-4 and then bogged so I let out, that would have been my 13 second run. Every run I shifted around 73-7400.

The setup is looking like this:
Stock 98 block with 104K on it
milled .030" stock 01 magnum head
Crane 004 cam (.355 lift, 282 duration intake, 272 duration exhaust)
Mopar DOHC ECU
Crane ignition box (used for 2-step and high limiter)
OBX long tube header
2.5" no cat exhaust
Thermal muffler
Magnum intake shortened and converted into a tube intake
52MM TB
3.94 trans
Phantom Grip dif
ClutchMaster's stage 3 clutch
Full race inserts
Solid bobble strut
No A/C or P/S
No rear seat
205/50/15 Drag radials on stock 2gn 7 spoke wheels for front tires
Zex wet nitrous kit with 65 shot jets

Damn, looks like you were really on a run the last time! Keep with it, before you know it 13's will be boring.

I know. I'm going to get a timing controller for my crane box so I can pull a few degrees, and maybe control that back firing. I might also change the two step to a momentary switch instead of my clutch pedal, so that I can let it go and not have it cut spark while going down the track, I think that was causing some of my back fires. Also, I think one of those "curly" wire switches for my nitrous on the steering wheel would help too.

Well, my track started enforcing NHRA rules tonight, so they said I couldn't run the nitrous without a fire jacket. I ran it 3 times and they pegged me on the last run at the burnout box, said I could either take the bottle out, get a jacket, or leave. I waited for my wife to get there and then took out the bottle lol. On my 3rd run I was late hitting the switch since I had turned it off before the run.

Image

Bottle pressure was somewhere between 900 and 1200 (best I could do was with a mirror and kinda looking) so it wasn't running it's hardest. The only thing I changed since last week was the plugs, tightened the o2 sensor, took out the passenger seat (just to see) and took out about 25 pounds of random tools. I also had my two step set at 4200, when I thought I had it at 5200. It seemed to work pretty well, it scared me my first run, when I launched it wheel hopped so bad I thought I was breaking everything. After that it stopped doing it and would just hook and go. I tried shifting at different points, on my higher traps I shifted around 7300 on 1st and 2nd, and 3rd I shifted around 6900-7100.

I was so stoked when I went a 14.8 all motor. When I went the 14.660 I was ecstatic. After last year of a 15.1@93.5 I wanted a 14.70 on the motor. The air was pretty good tonight, but the track wasn't quite there. In 2 weeks I'm going to Cecil County dragway which is supposed to be a full tenth faster. We'll see what happens between now and then.

Also, hit a scale at the track. It said the car and driver weighed 2660. That's without AC or PS stuff, the passenger or rear seats, trunk carpeting, and a half rad. I know there is 70 pounds in the driver that could be take off, but still, it weighs 2360. I need to find where all this weight is in the car and get rid of it. I'm thinking about taking out the crash bars, but I drive this car on the street and don't want to get totalled when someone else does something retarded.

BTW, I waxed Philly's ass our first run (he spun, ricer excuses). My 14.1 to his 14.5. He eventually went 13.5 though.

There isnt much more weight to take out. A completely naked Harold with all the factory chassis bracing(dash bar, crash bars, hood and trunk lid frames) was 2329 or so.

:-/ . I'm gonna have to find something. Might attack the tar sound deadener on the floor this weekend, look into taking out the air bags (even though I REALLY like the thought of air bags), and I might cut bracing out of the trunk lid.

And some turbo honda killing me.

Big thanks to Philly and his smokin' hot girlfriend for taking and uploading the video's.

Light weight hood
Cut trunk bracing
Taiwanese replacement fenders(like 26ga they weigh nothing)
Lighter wheels
Lighter seat

Right now I'm rocking the 2gn 7-spoke wheels because it's all I had to put my drag radials on. If I could get a set of rota's I would be good to go, but I don't want to drop $440 on a set of wheels.

Lighter seat might be an option, I'll have to look into it. I have a set of 2gn front seats in it right now. Well, until I pulled the passenger one yesterday.

Fucking PhillyLS1 is a douchebag.

So yesterday, I'm painting these wheels, and I show him pics. He says they'd look better if I took a dremel to the lip. I don't have a dremel (thanks to my brother leaving it out in the rain). He proceeds to brow-beat me on how it would look so good, yadda yadda yadda and how I should run out and get a dremel to do that shit.

Anyway, for a while, my car has a lot of damage to the passenger side. I changed the fender yesterday, but there are still marks on the door.

Image

While I'm at Philly's house, he has all of his tools out for detailing. He looks at my car and says "Aw fuck, that's horrible. You should have someone do something about that" and puts all of his tools away, never touching the car.

What a jerk. I mean really, I'm at his place, he wont lend me his dremel that he used to polish the lip on his wheels, and he wont take 2 minutes to polish 90% of the scratches out of my door. What a total dick.

1 out of 4 95 Sport wheels done. The lips on these wheels aren't going to be in perfect shape. The wheels are 14 years old, and have been curb checked (a lot) in their life. They came off my old NYG car that had a pretty hard life.

Keep it up Jerry, don't let that asshole discourage you!

LOL

As I said in the Carlisle thread, most of the wheels look good, but being curbed harder than that dude from American History X, some of the lips had to be "reconstructed". Basically me shaping it with a dremel into a sort of flat surface to get some sanding done to.

Image

It's really becoming a better car. When I first got it, it looked like a parking lot car. You know, looks good across the parking lot. Then it became a "butter face" since the front fender damage was there, but it had Euro tails. Now, it's becoming a 20 foot car. I'm really happy with it.

Love these wheels.

Well, today, a first for the car.

Keeps popping fuel pump fuses, so I have a short somewhere, just gotta find it. I was almost at work, I could pretty much see my work, but I had to get it towed to my mom's, so that's where I am right now. I took the day off work, I'm going to fux with it to try to find the short.

Aaaand it's fine again. Downstream o2 touches the driver's axle and grounded out.

Well, took her to the track again today. I went up to Cecil County since a bunch of guys from work were up there. Here's what I did today:

First run: I ran my street tires (195/60/14 Falken 329's at 32PSI) and it was wicked wheel spin.

60': 2.433
330': 6.405
1/8: 9.555
1/8 MPH: 80.54
1000': 12.200
1/4: 14.414
1/4 MPH: 102.44

That run, everyone was saying the track was hooking, etc etc. I launched off my two step and obliterated first gear. I wish there had been a vid of it. I was bouncing off the limiter, went to 2nd and then started spraying. My buddy came up to me after the run and said "I don't know how you went anywhere, your tires were on fire through first. And it looked like the car exploded when you went into 2nd gear". It really hooked when I banged 2nd gear.

This run, I borrowed my buddies SRT-4 slicks (M&H 24.5x8.5x15) and used them. My other friend kept yelling at me to spray first gear, so I did.

60': 2.062
330': 5.737
1/8: 8.773
1/8 MPH: 81.55
1000': 11.354
1/4: 13.539
1/4 MPH: 103.32

I turned off my two step so that it wouldn't cut spark going down the track, launched around 6000. It spun a little, kind of bogged, and then I just turned the nitrous on and held on. It was so !Muffler Belts! fun. I really need to get a good set of slicks for my car, but in 22" or so. The M&H slicks are 1.5" taller than my street tires, so it was killing my gearing. At the line as I was revving up I noticed I was rolling forward, so I just dumped it hoping I wouldn't red light. I ended up with a .031 light, it was bad !Muffler Belts!.

All in all, I had a great time. The car runs 13's now, gets 30-32MPG, and has a badass corbeau seat I got from RandomZero (pics later).

After 1 year and 7 months of ownership, I fixed my filler door in 3 seconds. I opened it up at the station, and pulled on it a hair. It popped back into place, and closed as it should.

Fuck me.

Image

I took a rear shot to show how the euro tails light up at night. You can kind of see the corbeau seat in there.

Image

This tank of gas was 25 MPG. I gotta get my foot out of it.

Got a 2.5" cat put back on the car, since I have to figure out how to get this to pass emissions. While I was there, my buddy bent me an intake pipe out of 2.25" piping, and then an adaptor for my 3" inlet filter. It works good, sounds badass (metal resonates louder than rubber), and it feels like it has more power. The power gain is just speculation though, since I can't dyno it. I just have to drill and tap a spot for my nitrous nozzle and I'm good to go.

So, updated, I got these:

195/60/14 on the left, 225/50/15 on the right. Both wheels are 6" wide with a 40 offset.

Excuse the dirt

I also got some nitrous jets. When I ordered my Zex kit before, they sent me the wrong jets for the 75 shot, so I never used it, I only used the 65 jets. This weekend I had planned on running an 85 shot, which is a .044 jet. The didn't have .44, .43, or .42. I ended up going with a .46, around a 90 shot, with a .28 fuel. It's gonna be rich and safe.

I also plan on taking out the rest of the carpet, the rear interior panels, the center console, and the passenger seat. If the stars align, and I get the nitrous to work like I want it to, I could touch 12's.

Wish me luck.

If anything goes, there will be pics and vids. Hopefully if it goes I don't destroy the head. However, that 219 WHP sohc does give me some hope.

First, here are the two wires you need to make your cruise control off work as an on button for something else on a 1gn. I had already stripped them before I got a good pic of them. It's the Red w/ Light Green stripe, and a Black w/ Tan stripe. Only the off button will do anything, the rest have high resistance for cruise control use of course. You can use it for whatever you use a momentary switch for, nitrous, two step, low->high boost. I'm happy with how it works.

Image

Image

And onto the drag radials, I only have a cell phone so they aren't great pics, but I'm sure someone will have a camera tomorrow at the track.
