I hate autozone.....I love the Advance stores by me...so much cleaner, the people are nicer, more of what you actually need, etc.

haha, my mom likes the stripes because they "make the car easier to find in the parking lot"......

HAHAHAHA. I thought the RED car with the HUGE spoiler was enough.......

I'm gonna have some pics up in a bit

Also, I'm glad you didn't stop by because I would have wanted to chat and we were SLAMMED all day. If I wasn't helping a line of customers to the door I was constantly on the phone.

A lot of people in "Roundtown" :D don't like the auto zone here either, and come to advance instead. It is a little further away for most people, but the zone here is a bunch of kids really, and they're not very customer friendly. They don't work with the customer at all (although a lot of that can be attributed to higher pressure from people above them...) But hey, Advance stock is doing GREAT so no worries there.

Alright, here are the pics as promised. Nothing too special. You'll have to bare with me as I can't seem to find my nice digi camera so I'm using the 4.1 megapix of my video camera.

Paid a little attention to the engine. Foaming tire shine and all. looks decent.
Image

Here's my work to the hood for the PVO. Even though this car is a slowmatic, I still feel a difference in the butt dyno....
Image

This is a little view if you can see it of the color change. the only thing i don't like about red
Image

SEXY front end. Just wish I had the mopar lip.... All the bugs are gone though :D
Image

My attempt at a pretty picture.
Image

hot ass, right?
Image

You tell me, I think the exhaust is sagging a little. It may be a result of the SRT exhaust I had on that didn't fit in the cutouts and was contantly pulling down on the bushings. I'm thinking I might get some new bushings, or just wait til I find a lip kit and see how it fits.
Image

I need to clean up this gunk from the ugly taillight thingys I had on there. I figured it would be easiest to do with the taillight off, so I'm waiting.
Image

I was also very upset because I wanted to take my laptop out and do my quarter mile and HP, but I couldn't find my cable to plug into the OBD II port. UGH......

Enjoy guys (and girl :D)

Car's looking good. And I'm with the both of you about Advance vs. O'Reilly vs. AutoZone. Both AZ and O'Reilly are closer to me (AutoZone is literally around the corner) and I will drive the further distance to go to Advance. They're usually much more helpful and stock most of what I look for (except for the PCV valve for the 2.0)

alright, I FINALLY found my cable for my dyno scan. Here's what i've got
Image

That's my extremely slow neon making these numbers:

1/4 mile speed: 79.4
1/4 mile time : 17.6
0-60 : 9.9 seconds
HP (not sure how accurate this is, but seemed close) : 114.5 hp

That beats the 17.9 I ran last summer at the track. I'm curious to see what she'll run on the track with the hood mod. maybe we'll see this week :D

gosh I'm mad.....

I found a 1gn on craigslist. 2dr, 5sp, sunroof SOHC. The guy wanted 500 for it. I sent him an email yesterday telling him that I would be up there to get it today. He had no issues and gave me his address. He also expressed that some other people were interested. I then emailed him today telling him exactly what time I'd be there to get it, and that I had gone to the bank, had the cash in hand, and just needed his assurance that it would be there after I got a friend to go with me 2 hours there to pick it up. Well, he sends me an email back saying someone else is coming to look at it at the same time, and that he's thinking that a higher bidder will take it home. Therefore he couldn't guarantee that my 4 hours of driving would be worth my time. UGH, i was looking forward to this car.......

POO

thanks for letting me vent my frustration.

well, SRT struts with the eibachs on are on the way! Thanks Nate!!!!!

So since I'm updating and I don't feel like making a thread in the brake section, I wanna ask you guys a question. It's about brakes..... :)

So, I would like to swap just my rears to discs. Now obviously I can pull them off of any 2gn out there. What I want to know and haven't been able to find out is what else I can steal them off of. Obviously they need to work with the new SRT struts. I got to looking at my g/f's PT and then realized they wouldn't work since they don't use struts. I'll let you guys chime in here.

Pics when I get the struts, and I'll do a little before and after....and if anyone's interested I can maybe do an install how to or at least a LOT of detailed pictures!

Can't wait for the struts and eibachs to be put on the car. Thats one of the main things that I put a "thumbs down" to on your car.

You'll need to pull them off a 1gn or a 2gn Neon.

I happen to have a set I pulled off a 2gn I would like to sell. :D

I don't know if I'll have wheels before Carlisle, but we'll see. 03blackRT's discs might be my last big purchase. After all, I gotta save up so I actually have some money for the trip.

Lip Kit + Not available in flame red = FAIL!!!

It'll happen sooner or later (probably not before Carlisle), right now my focus is my brakes.

I should be getting my rear discs from 03BlackRT tomorrow. They won't be going on right away (seeing as I don't have a day off until about 2 weeks from now). I'm going to be blasting everything sometime this week, and I ordered all new rotors, pads, ebrake shoes, hardware and what not for the whole car. It's all Wagner, not Wearever which is the more common brand we sell. I had to go to a training meeting for work where a guy from Federal Mogul came and talked to us about Moog chassis parts and Wagner brakes. I am honestly never going to buy anything but moog now. They really are miles ahead of other "OE" companies. The powder metal bearings, or "gusher" bearings are awesome, and unique to moog parts.

We've also found out that Wagner pads REALLY don't work well with Wearever rotors. They must just be too hard for the rotors or something because most people that have tried that combination have returned them. Our biggest commercial account won't even buy Wagners now because they have too many people complain about noisy brakes.

Anyway, to sum up my rant, new discs brakes will be on soon, and they'll be smooth and pretty and painted (red).

Well, I'm finally back to the forum, and I thought I'd let you guys in on the small amount of progress to the Red Baron. A few things have happened.

The first big thing was the struts. About two months after Carlisle, Nate's struts made a really big passsing of gas (pun intended, two puns actually). So, we at Advance were having a big rebate deal with the purchase of 4 Sensa Trac struts. I know they're not Tokicos or KYBs, but they are lifetime, and since I work at the store they'll never question me when I'm replacing them. These struts were of course also of the regular neon height, so along with the pro-kit from Nate's struts, the car is sitting a little lower yet again, and this time it looks even better.

Now, I know the picture whores out here are going to scream at me, but I don't have pictures of it lower yet. All of the pictures I took are on my Laptop that is now completely inoperable.

However, I do have pictures of my other "mod" that I've done as of late. Once upon a time 03blackRT sold me his rear disc setup, and I have finally installed it as of a few months ago. Everything that is a wear item is BRAND SPANKING NEW!!! Here's some of the install.

Image

Image

fresh paint :D
Image

there I am, working real hard....

Image

Image

I really tried to take my time painting the calipers. I think i put at least 5 coats on each of them with my own brush. They came out amazingly smooth with the exception of the left one which had some horrible pitting for it was rebuilt.

Anyway, hope you guys like it, and I hope to have more and more done before Carlisle. Next on the list I think is gonna be some mild wire tucking. Danteneon got me going with his rediculously awesome throttle cable relocation awesomeness modificatifiedness he performed on my car (okay, I spent too much time staring at his engine bay and got jealous.....)

oh yeah, photos are complements of Mary, or EJsGirl
