Had the day off again due to rain so I decided I'd black out my wonderful new exhaust. I paid ridiculous prices for it so I don't want it rotted out by next season.
I picked up a can of VHT high temp flat black exhaust paint and was going to take the exhaust off the car and paint the pieces and put it back up. Tardo made that impossible when he welded the whole thing solid on the car. So instead I jacked the ass up as far as possible and did what I could reach.
I started off by taping off the stuff that could get overspray on and I'd be butthurt about later. This included tips, sway bar, bumper, brakes/wheel.
step two involved running a rag over the piping and such to get dirt and oil off of it so the paint would adhere and not fisheye.
step three... spray that shit on. I was able to get most of the stuff covered and I was happy with the way it spread and the coverage I could achieve. I sprayed some of the paint on the control arms and the frame where they mount just for some extra protection.
I figured this was as good a time as any to undercoat what I could on the car since I had originally planned to do it the day I put the lip kit on back in '08 but ran out of time
I sprayed the bottom of the trunk area and frame rails.
I think it looks much better now. Yes I know I missed some spots in the pics but I went back and made sure everything was covered

finished product. yummm

I have Mopar adjustable control arms to go on eventually but I'm afraid of those bolts breaking... The bushings don't look too good in them and the ones in the red car are shot on the one side and the wheel moves around. uhhhhh....
While I was in there I took some huge Channel Locks and crushed the shitty pipe down more at the booger weld to stop the exhaust leak as best I can for now. I think I got it closed up pretty well.

Oh yeah, and fuck you guys. I don't build my car for people on the internet. I build it for the kids.
I went to a local weekly cruise last night and these two little kids came over with their dad and were like "woah!" and wanted to know who's car it was. This shocked me since I think the cudas used to grab kids attention. My brother's friend's wife said it was mine and I was talking to their dad at this point who told me he owned a 2000 Neon ES.
The kids wanted to know if it was fast, and I was brutally honest and told them no... not even a little bit. Then they got super excited and asked if they could sit in it. I said sure, why not? I know if I were a kid and wanted to sit in a car and couldn't I'd be bummed. They were so excited and kept talking about how awesome those seats were
They wanted to hear me rev it up and I was like I don't think that's necessary, it doesn't sound very good. They persisted so I went on to embarrass myself in front of some guys that were making REAL power in their muscle cars so I bounced it off the rev limiter a few times for them and they couldn't have been happier. They had smiles on their faces and I think it made their day.
Hard to believe out of ~1500 nice cars their favorite was a neon.
