Thank! Yup they are off a 300m special I mentioned it in that post  All I used from them are the housings with the turn signals. The base as well as motor and glass are original neon pieces. Didn't feel like fishing a million unneeded wires throu the tiny hole in the mirrors. I don't care about heated or auto dimming mirrors.

Well I do mister! Get that shit hooked up pronto!

Of course now that you posted that, I'm going to be searching for 300M special mirrors so I can have the auto dim and heat :banghead:

Can't wait to see your car in person :D

Dante, you can get the heated mirrors on neons older than 03. My 00 plymouth had them. I'm not certain the auto dim function is on all the mirrors. From what I gather some 300m cars had the memory mirror function and some didn't. I'm not sure about the auto-dim. They may have all had that. If so you could most likely get any non-turn signal 300m or intrepid mirror.

It's the auto dim function I like. It would match my inside mirror :D

Unfortunately I broke the motor for the driver's side mirror, but the glass itself is still in tact. I will be tackling the pass side soon. If you want I can bring the leftover parts with me to carlisle for you to play with. You'd need folding mirrors AFAIK since I believe the glass size and shape is different.

Aww crap, I forgot about the folding mirror part. I'm not going to install folding mirrors on the car.

Just duct tape a blowtorch on them and you'll have heated mirrors.

Hey Ryan, the car looks beautiful! I love the molded-in PVO spoiler...very well-done sir! I hope my R/T will be able to make it to Carlisle next year, although it won't look anywhere near as clean as my old SXT, but someday it will look better than the old car!
I'm jealous you have an SRT swap :D

Chris - lulz I've mentioned you in the past and i was going to explain it to her but I didn't. She jokingly told me she was going to bring a bikini to model with my car. I couldn't help but lolling thinking about the boobie mod.

Brodie - thanks! That molded PVO was a hell of a lot of work for someone that has no formal bodywork experiance! It isn't perfect but most people will never notice the imperfections but I know they're there. It's still nicer than some Ive seen molded by "pros". And about the swap... I just happened to luck out on my dads dealer getting ready to wholesale the srt with the blown motor and they sold it to me for $1500

I drove the car 70 miles the other day with no major issues other than realizing a front wheel bearing was bad... wow. The noise that thing made was scary. I wasn't sure which side it was and being that the SRT had 90,xxx miles on it I bought all new bearings to solve that problem. It ended up being the pass side. I must not have turned it when I installed the knuckle because it was obviously bad. When we pressed the bearing out all the ball bearings fell out.

I replaced the IAC and did the IAC rewire and my RPMs will still shoot up to around 2000 RPM when I press the clutch in after driving a while  So I'm not sure if there is a leak somewhere on the IM at one of the hoses or the intake gasket or something... I tried boost leak testing the car yesterday but it would bleed off very quickly. Found a hole in the signal line to the BOV and the solenoids appeared to be leaking so I ziptied those lines. Also looks like my T for the BOV line might be leaking. I didn't go any further because I stopped to go get the wheel bearings.

Also coming home Sat night my oil light came on when I started the car and stayed on. It did this once before and wasn't on the next time I started the car. My guess is it is either electrical or the switch/sensor is bad. I wired a new connector on it because the original one was broken. I did remove my balance chain and did not block the oil passage hole since I left the entire assembly in there. The consensus seems to be that this is fine. The oil pump was brand new so I'm pretty sure I have good oil pressure too and the engine sounds perfectly healthy. Like I said, I'm guessing it's the sensor.

So as of right now the new wheel bearings are getting pressed in then I need to try to resolve the RPM spike and fix vac leaks and I should be good to go!

How are your brakes? There is a vacuum line that is attached to the BACK of the intake manifold. Make sure that is attached. SRT's don't like wheel bearings they typically only last 40k or so. How about the TPS? Sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere causing the RPMS to stay high...

Well I can't believe another year at Carlisle has come and gone already... It seems like I spent the past 6 months rushing to get my car ready for the event (I did...) and now it's all over so quickly. It was a blast though and I took my girlfriend for the first time and she actually really enjoyed it and everyone there. She even said, "now I want to build a neon!" so I was happy

Driving the car the week before I left I realized I had a REALLY bad wheel bearing somewhere... sounded like the front. Well since they both had 90k plus miles on them I bought 2 new bearings. The rears were original as well so I bit the bullet and replaced them all. In the process of changing the rears I think I solved a problem. If you remember my ABS light kept coming on and I had an internal controller failure. Well, when I pulled the rear hubs I forgot that I had reused my lower mileage originals back in '09 when I did the disc swap so they didn't have the target ring for the speed sensors. No ring, no read speed = lights. After replacing and driving the ABS light went off and never came back on.

I spent Thursday morning installing new wheel bearings, washing, waxing, installing my HU, custom center caps, NEON trunk badge and painting the pass side 300M mirror. The only issue left was the high idle. Since I didn't have time to look into it anymore I decided to let it go since I could make it go back down by blipping the gas. The big leaks must be gone as the BOV sounds very normal now and not like a horse laughing.

We hit the road for Carlisle around 3:00 PM and made the trek out with Matt (Nitehawk). I was nervous being that this was the first real drive I took the car on... About 3.5 hours later we got to Carlisle with the biggest and only issue being the idle which plagued me all weekend.

I drove the car around all weekend there and had 0 problems other than a random CEL for TIP sensor voltage low which ended up being because the connector won't lock properly. No biggie.

We had a great time at the show and I'm sure there will be a lot of pictures popping up, but for now I have the most important picture to me. Forgive the blur. It was dark and my cell camera sucks.

I was rather surprised and really excited to win 1st Place Modified with 2gn as there was some pretty stiff competition! It was really nice to see how many people really liked the car and appreciated all the hard work that went into it. I'm not one to build my car for others, but seeing the interest in it really makes it all worth it
