Well, I was referring more to a real situation other than leghumping, but sure. I humped his leg for some headlight gaskets.

I have to admit, I'm kind of surprised you didn't quote that in your sig yet.

EDIT:

Yup, knew that was going to happen.

So I finally decided to install the new headlight gaskets John sent me today. The whole process should have taken about 20 minutes. It took about an hour instead. Turns out when I went to the body shop last time to have the car fixed properly, they GLUED my headlight gaskets in place. Now, I thank them for not allowing the gaskets to flap around in the breeze potentially ruining the paint, but seriously? Come on, super glue???

So it took quite a bit longer so I could scrape the passenger side gasket off. Drivers side came off without any problems. And now, on to the pics:

Not quite so for the Passenger side...

Leftover crap from being glued on... I didn't feel like cleaning it off.

Yay, all done!

My name is Sean, and I approve of these gaskets.

YAY! Now...silver eyelids.

Nooo. Now, new headlights.

I forgot to mention, but in picture 4, you can see part of the headlight mounting bracket sitting with the gasket material. Yeah, that piece was broken entirely off and just bolted to the rad support. So I put it back that way, but between that, the eyelids and the small cracks in the lens... it's time for new ones. These were supposed to be just cheap replacements for a few weeks after my old lights were stolen anyways, so I really got my moneys worth out of these ones.

Heading outside in a few minutes to check out a squeak I'm hearing from the drivers front when I hit a bump. Sounds like something is loose.

Also, if I take a turn a little fast, I'm noticing what sounds a tiny bit like something grinding coming from that side.

Any thoughts on what to look for? I'm going to check the tie rod, halfshaft and wheel bearings, but other than that, I'm not sure what else it could be. I also noticed some fluid on the trans pan yesterday which concerns me a bit. Hopefully it was just water or something.

better check your fluid level... mine leaks a little and over time it becomes a lot... when it's so low it won't shift. go check your tranny fluid!

my car makes weird noises too and I can't figure out what it is. it's a sort of clunk... fuck it.

My trans was just replaced 2 months ago, it better not be leaking!

So uhh... it seems discount tire doesn't torque wheels properly. Been fighting 2 lugnuts for 15 minutes and they just won't budge. Waiting on my impact to charge up a bit and see if it will break them loose so I can get a better look at everything. Currently it seems like the bearings and tie rod are ok though.

nothing beats a 2' long 1/2" breaker bar and some muscle

I'm 310 pounds and even me bouncing on my breaker bar isn't budging them...

Finally got the lugs off and everything seems fine. Just gonna put it all back together and turn the stereo up louder, I suppose. Ill worry about it when/if the wheel falls off.

Very difficult to hear, but at 38 seconds in, you can hear the noise I'm talking about. It's a lot louder when you're not using a Droid to try and get it, haha.

this.

I dunno, I don't hear it. but my car is sounding bad... something is gonna break or fall off soon...

In that case, maybe I'll throw an SRT front on my car and we can be haggard twins?

by sidepipe87
maybe but I have the same front end on that you do... but with fogs. and I'm on coils, BRAH. whatchu know bout that?

I dunno, someone clunks hardcore in my steering somewhere. it's gonna be bad.

Hm. So perhaps the cars are twins, but not identical twins. Nearly identical twins, perhaps?

Yeah, I've had a small clunk for a year or two now, but nobody has found anything. And of course, it won't clunk with a mechanic in the car, so everybody thinks I'm crazy.

If I get my mechanic to hear the noise I'm gonna be in trouble then... sorry dad! he's gonna be pissed when he finally figures out it's on coils now  The LCA bushings were replaced in May, so I don't think they're fucked up yet. Axles, inner or outer tie tods, and balljoints are about all that is left

 you tossed it on coils and he didn't notice? Impressive... how did you get him to not notice you're lower than you were?

Wheel bearing maybe?

Posted: Mon Aug 23, 2010 6:55 am
by TheRandom1
That's what I thought, but I didn't have any play and it only squeaks when I hit a bump. And not even every bump either...

TheRandom1 wrote::rofl: you tossed it on coils and he didn't notice? Impressive... how did you get him to not notice you're lower than you were?
because I dropped it initially last year with him somehow not noticing, so when I went to coils although it's lower, the difference is marginal compared to stock height to 1gn ACR was... I mean, both my cars are parked next to each other on the driveway, it's very obvious. Perhaps he's noticed and is just playing dumb.

Doesn't sound like a wheel bearing... they will hum not squeak.

Ordered the washer pump on Tuesday, just checked the tracking number, and it's already out for delivery. So at some point soon I need to install that.

Awesomly quick shipping by Rock Auto.

Installed the new pump in all of... 5 minutes yesterday. Full of awesome to be able to clear shit off of my windshield again.

I still need new wipers though. Those will come eventually.
