I got a PM from Maddog this morning...the shifter is DONE! I'm so frickin excited!!!! Lastnight I ordered some Booger bushings, as well as a set of JonnyMopar solid cradle bushings to tighten everything up. Just now, I ordered a 5-speed shift pattern decal that replaces the 4-speed ones on the Pistol Grip knob. Here's a pic of it:


This is gonna be one of the best mods in my car yet! I can't friggin wait!!!! And yes, I do have my camera with me, so I'll be leaving for work after this and taking a few pics of my headliner for y'all.

Today's update is a real nice one! Like I said before, the headliner was layed with some dark graphite (matches better than black) 1/8" headliner material, but that was the only thing I did yesterday. Today I spray-dyed all the plastic hardware (visor clips/mounts, b-pillar bolt cover, rear laundry hooks, and dome light trim) and they look fantastic! I put about 3-4 light coats of SEM Graphite color, and 3 coats of SEM semi-gloss clear on each part, so they should be well protected and keep them looking great! I also wrapped a b-pillar in the material as well and I love it! I'm glad I went this route instead of spray-dying all the pillars. The rest of the pillars will be done throughout next week, and everything should be installed by the end of next week. I'm also re-doing the rear deck (got rid of the child seat anchors). I've been wanting to do that for a long time, since one of the clips have been broken and keeps falling off, and now I embraced the chance. Here's the pics of yesterday's and today's progress:

Thanks bud! This weekend I'm going down to my mom's to celebrate her b-day, and my brother and I are gonna try and do my brakes and I might even get some time to install my intake manifold! I just gotta paint my bellows tube black, since it's from a blue Iceman magnum intake.

Looking good Brodie! I would have built up behind the B-pillar before wrapping so it doesn't sag like that. I too like the sexy purple gloves. Nitrile, WOOT! I like the headliner though!

latief: You don't want to use that color to match the SRT dash. You want to use Dark Slate (DV) or Agate(AZ), what I used. SEM color code: 17233. See my how-to in the HT Interior section if you want a shot of the can.

Everyone, thank you for your kind words! Yes, I got a lot of dye on my thumb, so I asked my boss if he had any rubber gloves around, and he handed me a box of purple rubbers. LOL! They worked great!

Also, Chuck from Maddog STS PM'd me and showed me a few pics of the shifter. I'm so excited to get it! I think it looks fantastic!



He said the total height of the shifter assembly is 16", compared to the stock SRT shifter assembly, which is 12" which isn't bad. He has tweaked it so it will be a very nice feel.

Yeah, and the grips will be wrapped in the same leather I made my shift boot in, and will be wrapping my steering wheel in as well. I hate the "wood grain" look...not in a fuckin Neon anyways

do all our cars have that same spot on them in the center of the roof??? mine does to but mine has what looks to be sum rust but i sanded the top of the roof a few daysa ago for the new paint and there isn't any i'm confused lol

No idea...this is the only neon I've seen without a headliner, so I couldn't tell you.

Well today was a complete and utter failure...well sorta. My brother and I went to my dad's friend's shop to do the brakes...yeah, kinda hard to do that without the lugnut key Then we decided to try and replace the intake manifold, and with my dad watching us, he kept saying "Oh Jesus Christ, get someone to do it for you before you break something" and I just got frustrated with him and said "fuck it, I don't even want to do it right now!"

I did, however, get to install my NGK Iridium plugs and Crane FireWire plug wires. WOW what a difference it made! The car used to idle kinda rough...kinda "jumps" a little bit. Not anymore! The car idles very smooth, and it fires up quicker as well. I am pleased with the ingnition components I've chosen.

I know, I am so anxious to get it! I gotta get the Boogers and JonnyMopar solid bushings before I can install it though...I'm hoping they'll both get here before the shifter comes on Tuesday!

Alright, today I wrapped both C-pillars and got one A-pillar done. After work, I decided to install my headliner, and WOW does it look nice! I also installed the driver's side wrapped A-pillar and the pass. side wrapped B-pillar, along with the two coat hanger clips above the rear side windows, the pass. side safety belt bolt cover, and the dome light. I did install my stock visors for now, so the front of headliner doesn't sag. When I get my other visors wrapped, I'll be installing them. Tomorrow I should get the other A-pillar wrapped and installed, as well as the B-pillar too. The C-pillars won't go in the car until the rear deck cover is re-wrapped with new material (still haven't looked for material for that). I might just wrap it in the headliner stuff if I have enough left, which I probably won't. Ok, enought babbling...on to the pics!

I know your wondering why the dyed plastic parts are so light and "blueish" compared to the material...it's really not. It's just because of the flash is really bright. It matches the material almost perfect! It's real close, considering I didn't use the actual Mopar "agate" color dye!

Tomorrow you'll be getting another update, since my Maddog "Pistol Grip" STS will be coming at my work tomorrow morning. I won't install it until I recieve my JonnyMopar cradle bushings...I got my Boogers in the mail today, so we're good. I'm also waiting on the 5-speed shift pattern sticker as well...

Thanks Steve, I'm going to go to more shows next year for sure. And for the rotors, I know both cross-drilled and slotted have their pros and cons, but either of them are better than stockers

The Maddog Pistol Grip shifter came in today...and WOW!!!! The thing is amazing! I may just install it tonight! Making the boot for it may be a challenge, but I'm definately up for it Here's pics of the beautiful piece of art from Chuck himself...
