More like:
You sir...need to stop trying things....

I hooked those new boards up, they sure aren't as bright as the ones I fried.

They're very similar to mine, and mine are bright as hell. You had all larger LEDs though, which I didn't have.

Lol, i still don't know what I'm going to do with the leds that are in the fried boards. Not much I can do with them since the leads have been cut on them.

The 24cm led strips are on backorder...... It may take awhile for before I start the lighting part of my cluster. Although the painting part is done now. I still have to perfect the red odometer, that is visible during the day!

Visible during the day is a huge plus! I hated that about the blue....you could never see it.

The led strips finally came in.

Heres a rough look of how they will be:

2 12cm
2 24 cm

Image

I'm thinking of using velcro to mount these.

I also have.
5 74 style leds coming
3157 bases for tail lights
1.5 wat 194 led bulb
60 red 5mm leds
40 blue 5mm leds
20 white 5mm leds

coming for various other projects...

I should have them installed tomorrow, but no pics will be of he current cluster because I'm not done yet.. So i will first test them out in my broken spare cluster. and post a couple pics.

Yesterday I was able to put the cluster back together. So tonigh I decided to give it a test run.

This was my first time plugging it in and I noticed that the gas gauge and temp gauge weren't lit.. probly backwards wire (I hope)

Image

Very shortly after I snapped this pic, wel 3 sec later the tach light went out.. I wonder if this is too many leds for the cluster or if the cluster just burnt three sets of lights...

Let me say these lights produced an awesome color and were exetremely bright, I noticed the needle illumintaion is the same as before, which now looks way to dim compared to the new lighting, but placing that smt tower in there that I have would fix that problem.

I'll find out tomorrow..

Thed leds themselves didn't burn out, but something in my test cluster did. Now it doesn't light anything up in two of the five lighted spots, but this is why I threw them inside this cluster 1st instead of my good one.

I'll have to run a power and ground wire from somewhere else to light these bad boys up. Maybe I'll do that on thursday.

I also put the jap neo wedges in my hvac and dam they are better than the neo superstars I had in there, but they still aren't bright.

I ended up running from the illumintaion and ground wire from the cluster harness, and it worked like a charm.

I took the gauge surround off the srt cluster and put it on this one since it was the look I was going for.

Originally I had planned to do all this to an srt cluster but that didn't work out.

Whats done to the cluster: (r/t)
red turn signals
vamp red odo film (found it)
srt gauge surround
2 12cm 12 led strips
2 24cm 24 led strips
tint removed from the odometer
tint removed from the turn signals

Image

And yes thats right, the odometer can even be seen in broad daylight...

I can't wait till 8:30, thats when the night pics get taken...

Thanks you, I think I can say I have the brightest cluster in a neon.

I may try tipping the strips on their side to kind of aim them to the center of the rings to get some cherry red needles.

I maybe implanting a few more leds into the cluster. I would be aiming them up from the bottom to help get those needles a little lighter.

I also have 120 different color leds coming, so I want to do something like this in the hvac, because I can stand how dim it is.

I Finally got the leds...

I have 8 red leds that will help light the needles for the gauges, so each gauge has 2 leds..

I have also put 8 leds in the hvac, so far.. There are 7 blues and 1 red.

I'm still testing some things out, and may add another 4 leds to the hvac or even the cluster because I havn't tried the cluster yet, while it was together.

I have plugged in the hvac panel and wow what a difference, but still not comparable to my gauges..

I am trying to get a new hvac control panel to do some work on since one of the mounting tabs for the vent control snapped, so this won't be the final design..

lit Pics will be coming this weekend after everything is all said and done.

Can't wait to see what they look like lit up. Have you thought about doing any to the trunk yet?

No, I'm doing nothing to the trunk, I barely use it and its not like I show my car.

The hvac looks awesome lit up.. I still want to tweak it a bit. My overall idea was to have the ac(light up blue) done, have the hot light up red almost there, and have evrywhere else be a light blue except for the recerculate light which is the darker blue.

The cluster leds didn't work as expected, these cheap les that I bought from ebay, really aren't too bright and I should have used white instead of red... So I want to tear those out and place 4 white leds on the two center gauges and 3 on the outer two.

I should have pics up of the hvac soon.

Here are the pictures.. finally

Before the 8 leds:

Here is what the hvac looks like now, It looks alright but it could use more leds. :)

I'm trying to make whats supposed to be blue light up blue, whats supposed to be red light up rad and have the rest the light blue color. It still needs some work and I'm not done with it yet...

Image

Here is what the cluster and hvac look like:

I just started making the four strands of leds. I do not know when I'll get around to installing them since i will be very busy this coming week.

The needles will be bright very soon..

Don't worry, in due time...

These cheap japanese leds aren't really that bright and they are only narrow angled,,, Well what did I expect for 6 dollars..

Anyways, I got some better, wide angled (170degree FTW) coming from the a place in the bronx. I should get better results this time. and the hvac will be O-So bright...

Even the led strips are narrow angled leds, which is why they don't light the needles to well.. I can't even stick the old leds in there anymore because the strips block the light.. So this is the only way to make the needles be red. I do like the effect that the mph are bright and the kpm is dimmer, it takes the attention away from them and looks cool. Unless I bought a wide angled strip, but I'm not about to do that..

Just spent the last two hours placing leds in the hvac controls.

The first attempt was alright, but this one should take the cake.

There is a total of 28 leds installed around the perimeter of the control panel.

24 wide angle hyper white
4 wide angle blue for the a/c section

Image

Installed pics should be up soon, weather permitting of course.
