Yup. But he is running a DCR 2.6 though. Hopefully you roast more tires than anything else!

Happy holidays everyone, hope everyone has had a good time off and got what they wanted from the old red fat man.

Anyway i got some plasti dip over the holidays, to spray the back bumper between the exhaust tips. From a distance it looks okay but up close you can see its pretty janky.

To get the curves i used a protractor to follow the arch of the opening for the exhaust then followed it to the top of the bumper lip. The thing i screwed up on was i used too much tape when making the lines, so i came out kind of botchy.

I also sprayed WAY to close to the car so its pretty runny. :/

So im going to outline the spray i have down now with some of the pinstriping i have left from my wheels and see if i can get one line then put down more paper and try again. Oh and this is one HEAVY coat.

I confused

You want the look of a rolled bumper without rolling it? Just my .02, but I'm not digging it (paint quality aside of course).

Yeah i know im in the process of redoing it right now kyle lol.

Dante: Yeah i think Dutchkingkong or w/e is s/n was did it with his white skittle and i really digged it. Plus i see some of the newer cars rocking a blacked rear like the mazdaspeed 3.

Round 2... FIGHT!!!

Okay so this time around i traced the fail spray with a pinstripe. It took a little longer but in the long run i kept very nice edges unlike the first time.

By the time i went out to check the paint it was nightish out and i couldnt get a good shot with the point and shoot so here you go for now.

There are a few spots that are still left overs from the time before, that ill get rid of tomarrow. Plus i need to throw one more coat on the bottom.

Yellow pinstripe FTW

 It really breaks up the yellow in the back of the car. Get some shots further away when you can, but it gets a thumbs up from me

Bet. That looks good man. No just some far away shots to see what it looks like..

I'm wanting to do that to my bumper for a while now, I think it would go really good since I got tinted tails & 3rd brake light.

Good work 2nd time around tho.

I think I know what it is that's bugging me...did you use a gloss or semi-gloss paint? IMHO, flat black would not make it stand out so much.

Looks good!

You really have to press the blue painter's tape to get it to seal well. It is fine for latex, but something with a solvent to it, not so much. I like to use regular masking tape, even tho it can be a pain to remove at times.

Thanks many and mopar.

Dante the paint was still drying its more flat black now today. Ill get some pictures when I get back home.

OD: yeah if I would have used less tape pet section and tried to get it covered with less parts there wouldn't have been so many notches.

So why Plasti Dip? That's basically liquid electrical tape stuff. Should've just used semi gloss black paint or SEM black trim paint.

I did plasti dip because if I didn't like it or if I screwed up I could retry. Plus I was going to use it on my wheels to project them from salt during the winter.

Yes, Midwesterners kind of have to get used to working in the cold. :)
I'd be afraid to paint at 15 deg.F., however.

I hopped a curb and fucked shit up.

Details on the damage when i tear off the bumper. Right now the front bumper is fucked and my intercooler is pushed in.

The cheaper alternative might be in the near future.
