Motor showed up today! Image

Waiting for some more parts that havent shown up yet. Probably won't touch the motor any more for the next week or so. Starting to clean up some of the parts I'm reusing. Took care of the intake manifold tonight. I struggled with whether to paint it or not. It didn't look much better after a can of brake clean and a scuff pad so paint it is! Image

Little update

I've mocked up the new motor a bit. Changed water pump and timing belt.

Swapped out the struts and lowering springs from the donor car

Very nice ! Loving the final results on both valve covers. And the whole car too, obviously. :D

Boat anchor :D

Im not sure really. Ill put it all on a pallet later and let it sit for now. Needs a head gasket.

I was going to use the trans for the swap but I dont think its in my best interest after looking at the fluid that came out.

Check the trans in the SRT as well. A lot more people are shifting to T350s in their SRTs as parts are harder and harder to come by.

Took a good look at the t350. Not sure how long ago but it had been replaced with a used one. Looks like the clutch was replaced at the time too. Throw out bearing fits really loose on trans input shaft. When I drained the fluid it looked a bit milky/shiny. Also the drivers side CV was toast. Because of all that I'll stick with the T850 for now. I'll keep the t350 for a spare.

Guess it's about time I give an update.

Last weekend I tore into everything. Motor was out of the yellow car. Pulled the motor and trans out of the orange car as well as harnesses and everything else for the swap. Got everything moved over to the new motor and bolted up the T850 and dropped the car down over the new power train.

Image

Image

So once I got it all in and played around with the wiring inside at the drivers foot well for the fuel pump it was time to fire it up. Started up and ran like a dream! Multiple CEL codes which I knew I would get as the solenoids are cut out. So we let it idle for a little bit and I decide I'll try to move it. Won't go into gear. Somehow we didn't notice when putting it in but the fork was flopping around. Figured the pivot ball broke. At that point I said screw it. Put the facia back on and pushed it out for the week.

Fast forward to tonight and I pulled the trans. Sure enough the white part of the ball has come off. Put in a new one with a new throw out bearing and fork. Tomorrow I'll put it back together and fingers crossed I can at least limp it home so that I can play with it in my garage instead of at the dealership.

Maybe by the weekend I'll have it buttoned up and ready to drive.

Time for another update...

Put everything back together after the last post. Same issue. Realized in my infinite wisdom that I fired up the car a few times with the slave removed. It was liking fluid so I put a new one in. It was better, but still not working enough. Pulled the trans a second time to make sure that I hadn't buggered anything up and it was good. Spent 2 hours bleeding the system and it feels like it's almost there but still too spongy. Master Cyl should be here tomorrow. Hope it does the trick...

I'm tired of working on this thing. I want to drive it!

I'd also get the stainless braided line since your there and doing it and eliminate the stock plastic lines

Well folks, the swap is DONE! A few things to take care of yet. My radiator fans don't seem to be kicking on so I'm going to probably hard wire them in. Still need to deal with the solenoid delete as that part of the harness was cut out and not available. Also need to get some gauges but that will come in time.

For now I'm just going to enjoy it! A couple more things to swap from the other car then it can go to the wrecker.

Definitely the best mod you can do!

Fuse 12 in the car is for the fan relay, check that first. I'd try jumping the fan connectors first to diagnose before doing any hard wiring. Something is obviously not right. Check this link out if you need help with it:

Got my fans figured out. Had a bad relay and bad connection at connector. Works like a charm now. Just need to get some resistors to take the CEL off for the solenoid delete.

Took the car for about a 300 km drive this weekend and it didn't skip a beat! I'm very happy with how it's turned out at this point.

Here's a shot of it in the grass I took on Sunday

Image

Took some time today to wash the car and my truck and take a glamorous shot of the two. I refer to it as Beauty and the beast. The truck is a mall crawler so it's definitely the "beauty".... for now!
Image

I've been banging my head trying to come up with an idea on how I want the car to look. I've thought about doing a vinyl wrap, painting it or who knows what. I'm leaning towards something kind of similar to this

Image

Who knows though. I change my mind more then I do my gitch it seems.

i vote to just black out the crosshairs but NOT the lip on the bumper and do black CE style stripes with black housing retrofit headlights and no eyelids

Not really alot to update with over the last few months. Summer wheels/tires are off and sold. Got my boost gauge installed finally.

Image

Also vinyl wrapped my hood. 3M Satin Black. Turned out good for first try. Ill wait until spring probably to paint the bumpers. No sence in doing it now with all the shit on the roads. Last thing I want to do is chew up fresh paint when I dont have to.

Full on winter mode for both rigs!

Moved into a new place a few weeks ago, already need a bigger garage

Car has been driving great. Boost spike when off PCM controlled boost is a little nutty on icy roads but im actually shocked as to how good the car has done so far. Considering im 4 hours away from Alaska, we have had good weather so far. Right now most of the snow is gone and its always around the freezing mark. Might even have a green xmas.

The result on your hood is interesting. Do you squeegee it on, use a hairdryer, or what?

used a combination of both. Took about an hour and a half to do . I did a clay bar on it before hand. I started at the scoop as that was where most of the stretching of the product was going to be. Had to use some heat to stretch it around a few areas but all in all it wasnt too bad. Looks good when its clean. The satin black doesnt look chalky like flat black does.

Well not much happening lately. The owner of a local body shop is going to let me spray some parts in the next few months. I'll wait until closer to spring but the plan right now is to just spray the front bumper. I'm going to reinstall the stock rear with Mopar lip in spring and narrow the exhaust to fit.

Started working on the wheels. I'm going to run the 18's that came off my orange car for the summer. One is pretty rough so I decided to paint them all.

Image

The one on the left is done. All the wheels aren't in the greatest shape but they will get me through the summer and maybe next year I'll buy something else. Eventually I want to go 16's.

Image

Oh, and winter is finally here to stay for a bit

I can't wait for summer!

You should put both yellow front bumpers back on

There's no yellow front bumper, let alone 2. I've explained why.

Ahh. I thought you still have the yellow sxt bumper and lip but now I don't care to go back and read to see what happened with them.

I came up with this on Facebook...

"Unfortunately Greg I'll be keeping hood and bumpers for my swap. Might sell my rt bumper with mopar lip but undecided.
July 31, 2014 at 3:46am ยท Like"

But this quote on here...

"The car now has an extreme dimensions body kit from bumper on it. The people that I sold it too, and bought it back from, had damaged the front end and put a different bumper on."

Good detective work. The R/T bumper mentioned with the lip was the rear bumper. Front bumper was the extreme dimensions one.

The R/T rear will be going back on the car in spring. The SRT exhaust will be narrowed to fit just like I had back in the day before I swapped back to an RT exhaust and sold the car. The SRT front bumper on it now will get painted and stay on the car, as long as it lasts the winter.

Between Facebook and here I think I get confused between what has been written in one place but not the other.

Ive had so many people tell me to get it back to just yellow and honestly, I cant wait to do it. Winter is too harsh here however to do it now.

EDIT -

Hell I just realized that I didn't even post a picture of the car when I got it back. Here it is a few weeks after buying it back. It had sat for a while before I drove it due to some documentation issues.

In my garage after doing the valve cover. Here you can see the front bumper
