the splitter has been put on hold for a bit, i'm going to be too busy getting my business up and running for a big car show in new brunswick next month. we have to put my business partner's R32 gt-r back together, and get it ready to display at the show (among completing other business related things), i have end of the school term coming up and no time (or money) to be fabricating anything at the moment. if it changes, i will let you know. in the meantime, i will be installing a custom 3" short ram intake with a K&N filter that i picked up from a local. that should be this weekend if the filter comes tomorrow, if not, early next week.

so i guess it's time to resurrect my log from the dead. not too much has changed really...i'm still nova scotian, still single, and still busy as hell. haha.

a lot of things have been going on with school and work. classes are done now, all i have left are final exams.

i also think it's about time to let you guys know what this "business" is that i've been co-founding. i'm taking a bachelor of management program with an entrepreneurship major in school, so it's only fitting that i opened a business doing what i love. i've opened up an online-based performance parts business with 2 other partners. one is is ontario, the other is here in halifax with me. we're called Focused Motorsports, we're really excited to provide the markets we serve with reasonable prices, and a huge product line of high quality parts (even some more rare parts like spoon, tomei, and project mu just to name a couple). we're busy getting ready for a local show called speedsport where we've rented a commercial booth. we're trying to get my partner's R32 GT-R back together to display at our booth, so we're nuts with that and getting our booth stuff rented and organized. we only have 2 weeks to go. i'll be sure to post lots of pictures for you guys once we're back. at some point, if things keep going well, i will probably approach 2gn.org and see if we can sponsor the forums, so we can hook some of you guys up with parts. anyways, that's what i've been so busy with in a nutshell. no wonder i haven't had time to start my splitter eh? when you get a chance, check out our website, it's a work in progress but we do have a splash page up for the time being, full site coming soon! http://www.focusedmotorsports.com

car-wise, im in the middle of FINALLY adjusting my coilovers. i'm not going for hellaflush or anything, i just want a lower ride height with an alignment preferrable for weekend racing. i think i posted the specs earlier on in the log. all of that will be completed by this week, i'm pretty stoked for it. i'll catch up on all of my car stuff once we're done at speedsport, exams are done, and i start making some money for the summer. so be sure to stay tuned guys, i will have some interesting changes coming up for this season!

pic from a local car club cruise last sunday to keep you guys happy for now. (i'll have more time for pics and updates soon, promise!)

thanks crystal. it's been a great experience so far and we look forward to growing and always improving!

car should be slammed this week with my alignment. in addition, i have a lead on a set of acr BBS's :D

so i finally had some free time...hard to come by these days.

today after work i pretty much finished dialing in my coilovers. on saturday i FINALLY got my alignment, adjusted my spring pre-load while i was at it, and my GOD what a difference. the car was way too bouncy before, now the spring rates are just right for street/track use. and wouldn't you know it, the stance doesnt look horrible anymore. it's pretty close to the same stance at the r/t had (for those who dont remember, check out earlier on in the log). only thing that i could do further is corner balance, which im going to be looking into. the alignment specs were -2 degrees camber in the front, - 1 in the rear, with stock toe front and rear, and everything else to stock spec. i'll try that out first and adjust accordingly.

and my priorities have changed with the car quite a bit. im on a much tighter budget now, so i won't be able to spend the amount i'd like. but i still enjoy the car in its current form, so im really not that upset about it. im having lots of fun driving it, and for now, i need reliability over power since its my only car and its also high(er) milage. plus, i'll be in a lower class in autoslalom with my lack of major mods so i won't get walked on. the only thing really on the list for this year for mods is:

- SRT ACR wheels for street use with BFGoodrich G-Force Sports
- R888's or RA-1's for the NT-03's for track use
- 3" downpipe and 02
- coolant & oil catch cans
- turbo timer
- Mopar Stage 1 (money permitting)
- Hondata IM spacer (money permitting)
- BMFIC & hard pipes (money permitting)

maintenance items take priority over all of these. a couple things need to be addressed, some a little more important than others.

1. all brake components need to be replaced, they're in ROUGH shape. waiting for pricing from my supplier on:

- Powerslot Cryo-treated rotors
- Hawk HP+ pads for the rear, a couple more aggressive options for the front

need to:

- dismantle calipers and service
- re-paint calipers factory red
- flush brake fluid and replace with Tilton DOT4 fluid (my company can get this, its good stuff)

2. cam seals are starting to weep, so i'm going to be replacing those also before the driver's school here in may. while i'm at it, i may replace the timing belt as well (since the cover will already be off)

3. accessory belts are in poor condition, so i'm going to be taking care of all those

4. coolant flush and replacement. i have some bubbles in the coolant, so i want to get rid of those and put some fresh coolant in the car

and everyone knows how anal i am about detailing, here's my detailing list (even though you're all going to say, wtf are you talking about, your car looks fine):

- finish wet sanding/buffing the exterior
- get dents taken out on the rear pass. door and pass. fender
- full shampoo of seats, floor carpet, and headliner need to buy a new set of floor mats
- undercarriage cleaning including engine bay AND wheel wells

so yeah, that's all i can think of off the top of my head. bring on the autoslalom season!

oh yeah, and here's some pics from a Peggy's Cove cruise last month. if you've never seen Peggy's Cove before, google it. you won't be disappointed. mind you the drop still sucks in these pics. i'll have to get updated ones soon, so you can see the new stance and of course my company's logos on the car. but you know how the pic updates go...haha.

enjoy!

scott.

yeah the stance was still off in the pics, so was the alignment. i cant wait to grab some updated pics and post them. the car looks super aggressive with the stance and alignment. and the new alignment has worked out great so far, so has the adjustments i made to spring preload and dampening settings. it rides and handles incredible right now. was trying out some pretty sick corners tonight actually : )

i ordered my brakes yesterday, they will be here on friday. my stock brakes are completely toast. so i need to install the new rotors, pads, Tilton DOT 4 fluid, and service the calipers.

for new parts, i got:

- Stoptech Powerslot rotors
- Hawk HP+ pads
- Tilton TBR-1 DOT 4 fluid

the reason i only got regular slotted rotors and HP+ pads was because i'm mostly going to be doing autoslalom this year, and not as much lapping. there's lots of downtime between runs, and the HP+ pads have a lower operating temperature, so they will work better given the conditions. i was looking into the Powerslot Cryo-treated rotors, but a 4-6 week wait and the fact that brakes don't get too hot during autoslalom runs vs. lapping made me choose the standard ones. the Tilton fluid is available from one of my suppliers, and is more than sufficient for my brake temps. these new parts coupled with my goodridge stainless brake lines will make sure the brakes are dialed on the car this year. can't wait for friday!

pads didn't arrive unfortunately, so i won't be putting the brakes on tomorrow like i had planned :(

i DID get my rotors though, and they look great. i'd say that i'll snap some pics, but you know how that goes...haha. in all honesty, i'll probly have pics of everything next week before install, and after. oh, and some comments on how it performs.

thought i'd post another pic from my friend kayla. you can really notice the negative camber here but obviously the wide angle stretches it. nevertheless, -2 degrees in the front ftw!

yet another update...

just picked up ACR BBS's today from a local (thanks, Roy!) and they'll now be my daily driving wheels. my nt-03's will become my track wheels, and i bought used 235/45/17 Toyo RA-1's for slalom events. should be nice and sticky since they're broken in a little bit. I promise i will get pics of the BBS's once they're on the car. just waiting for my 225/45/17 BFGoodrich G-force sports to arrive...should have already been here, but im hoping they're here by the end of the week.

my first slalom event is next monday evening, so i'll let you guys know how i make out. unfortunately my RA-1's won't be here by then, so i'll be running the nt-03's with my 215/45/17 G-force sports for that event. i'm already out braking these tires on the street, so obviously they won't be optimal for the slalom. oh well, it will be my first slalom of the year and will serve as a warm-up i guess.

i need to address a couple things on the car very soon. the cam seals are starting to weep a little bit of oil, so i'm going to do those. while i do that, i'm going to take care of the timing belt and water pump since everything will be apart. this is my priority before any other mods, since having a car that doesn't work well in the first place is hardly ideal in my eyes.

oh yeah, and i installed my forge WGA that i got from a local. all i can say is holy shit. what a bang-for-buck mod. i'm going to be setting it so that the car holds 16 psi, right now it's holding 14 and it's soooo much better than stock. the response that you get out of the stock turbo is incredible with this piece. why did chrysler put that wimpy spring in the stock WGA? brutal choice, haha.

hope you guys are all enjoying car season since it's finally here. wooo!

cheers,

scott.

I'm looking forward to seeing this car when I come out there in a few weeks. Did you and the crew out there get things set up for that Peggy's Cove cruise? shoot me a pm on neoncanada, or post up in the thread over there in MRNEC about my visit. See you in a few weeks...

and farmboy, i will definitely let you know on the cruise. won't be a problem to set something up. i'm sure some of the other non-neon guys that i know will be down for a peggy's cove run also. some pretty sick cars around here now!

so i've been doing more driving/racing than modding. i don't think that's a bad thing at all.

race # 2 of a regional slalom is tomorrow. today was the first time on my RA-1's. what a difference, it's like an entirely different car. today i almost laid down a really good time, but i missed a gate on my last run. stupid mistake, since that run would have been 2-3 seconds faster than my fastest of the day of 1:38. (I finished that final run with 1:39 even after letter off for the final stretch and coasting  ). i was still happy with the results, and i'm glad im finally getting more experience.

anyway, i'll update tomorrow when the event is over!

thanks for reading,

scott.

Best of luck today :)

wow...haven't updated since the double race weekend!

so the RA-1's are amazing, so much more grip than anything i've ever had on the car (obviously). i was pushing so hard that the rear actually broke loose after i let off around a gate, sketchy in a front wheel drive haha. but it's all good. it was a blast, and i guarantee that i picked up 5 full seconds with the new tires (and more slalom experience still).

a couple new items for the car also:

- Diablosport
- Innovate LC-1 Wideband
- Injen SRI (on the way)
- Standard suspension R3 coilovers
- '03 headlights

A note about the STD coilovers (who I also deal now too, btw)...these things kill the BC's. from a racer's perspective, they are a better damper and they have just as much adjustment as the BC's do, and you can tell they are a quality piece. They even ride better and perform better than the BC's. They also have the threads measured and numbered so that you don't have to go cross-eyed counting threads when you're adjusting them, which is a good feature. I'll do more of a write up and try to snap some pics once i get a chance. I should also really consider doing a review of these once I get a chance to try them out at the track in 2 weeks...

other than that, just installed the diablo and am lovin it so far. just waiting to get my wideband installed so i can start to tune myself instead of just the canned tune. all i know is the 93 octane (with modified spark since i'm only running 91) pulls harder than with the Forge WGA on the car before.

oh yeah, and i have my new street setup on the car for wheels/tires. got the ACR BBS's from a local, with 225/50/17 BFG B-force super sports. not as sticky as g-force sports, or kdw's, but they're a street tire, so i don't care. i have my fun with my slicks, i was looking for better tread wear and i got it.

hope you guys like the new stance as well, definitely fixed it. time to roll the fenders since i have a roller, and i'm rubbing a little right now.

hope you guys are making the most of your summer!

cheers.
