nice frame plating! It must be soo much easier working on a new ride, rather than having to combat rust.

^ thats the truth.. I hate restoring old cars.. Never a dull moment of getting rust in your eyes even with eye protection.

Frame looks great

the thing that makes it so great is the frame is already boxed. older vehicles didn't have boxed frames, so we would have needed to do that to help strengthen the frame.

Tonight we started mocking up the front end.We Shortened the UCA by about 1.5" & with the truck "laid" on big wheels we would have to raise the mounts about 9". At Max travel, not max lift, the tire would be even with the fender & thats with the ball joint maxed out. Keep in mind, we still have to Z the frame & do a body drop. Thats another 4" we will be losing, so our option is to make one off UCA with uniball joints. We will be ordering out parts next week, while we wait, we will start the body drop on monday......

i have 2 sets of 24s. i traded straight up, my stocks 20s for black 24s. with the new paint scheme we came up with, the black ones will not look good, so i am selling the black ones.

Finished cleaning up the rear section of the stock frame right behind the cab today. I also took some measurements for the stock booster. I have 4" of clearance between the booster & tire. So we are going to move it over a couple inches so it will clear the motor. Gonna save a couple hundred bucks by doing this instead of swapping to hydro boost

question, and it might be a dumb one, but the metal that you cut off will them allow you to lower the cab closer to the frame???

It will allow him to lower the cab on the frame, so the rocker panels will be lower to the ground. And if I know Dan, his rockers will be even with the bottom of the frame rails.

with a traditional body drop you cut the floor pan out of the truck, lower the cab to the height you want it (on the ground) and weld it back together using filler plates.

here's a bad example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WtAThqcOC4

edit* heres a better one. see how the floor is raised up...
Yup it definately needs to go lower. If its not scrapeing constantly why you are driving then its not low enough bro.
what we are doing is called a channel. its one way to body drop something with a frame. the other 2 types are traditional & stock floor body drop (sfbd). With a channel, i still keep my head room lol

so you basically cut a frame shaped portion of the cab floor out? the seats fit in the stock location that way?

my frame isn't coming into the floor at all. the only portion it will is right by the firewall & it will be so small that you wont even notice it

I did not realize there was a way of doing it that would keep head room... that's the only thing I hated about them this whole time! Well... that and the fact I'm not good enough to do a body drop, lol.
