Get your new wheels, or buy tires for the stock wheels.

Those two options get my vote entirely.

The problem isn't really the wheel to me, it's the name "Rota."

Thats your problem, that and the "slimmish" tires. In my opinion at least

So now you're above Rota because you got rid of yours for BBSs? Fail. GTFO.

Mox said in another thread he'd buy knockoff wheels because he abuses his wheels and he'd be pissed if he bent "legit" wheels when he can buy two full sets for the price of 1 set of "real" wheels.

I vote new wheels, simply because a longass wait isn't worth one wheel, because by that time you'd need tires for your stocks and buy them...then be out about the same amount.

Pee-pee cheerios?

Didn't know I was bagging on rotas and bragging about my bbs'

Haven't you seen the honda threads where rotas just "fall apart"?

Yeah, I've read the failure threads...but you rocked some JUST because they were white and you could match Anthony. Now you've got a HUGE problem with "Rota?" You sir, are fail.

WHERE IS MY PROBLEM WITH ROTA?!?!

And I loved my rotas, thanks much. I'd rep a rota any day.

And the bolded statement is the quality of the rim.

YOU JUST SAID THE PROBLEM ISN'T THE WHEEL IT'S THE NAME.

It's been posted twice. Read it.

Quality of the wheel. It's not a problem, per se. It's just you get what you pay for kinda thing.

And I didn't pay for any of this!!!

Kinda fun watching people argue or whatever in my thread. But... I'll continue what I said in the wheel and tire section.

Unlike most people who own a Sports/Sporty Car, I actually drive mine. I've put 21,000 miles on my car since June of 2009. I've also done roughly 40-50 autocross runs, a trip to the dragon, and other excursions.

I own Rota Grid's that are 18x9.5. I paid $1,000 for my Rotas. The similar Volk rims are the TE37 and are roughly $850 EACH wheel, which is $3400 a set.

As I said, I actually drive my car and I use it in a way that it was intended. With so many autocross runs and so many miles, I've done some damage to my wheels.. Here is some pictures of just some of the ding, scuffs, scratches..

ok I think that's enough for now.

There is also cone marks that I've buffed out over time but that's beside the point I'm trying to make.

With how hard I am on a set of wheels I'd be pretty Pissed if I had spent $3400 aka $850 a wheel and done this kind of garbage. Hell, I'd probably be afraid to even drive the car because of the money I would be risking if I hit a pothole or a washed out construction site.

If you do the math I could buy 13 Rota wheels and still have extra money to buy a sway bar or whatever.

About the crack or "Failure" of my one Rota wheel. This was not due to faulty components, or shitty craftsmanship. I've said it a bunch of times. I hit a section of undercontruction road at 60mph.. The road had been washed out which made it the equivalent of hitting a curb at 60mph.. MY CAR CAUGHT AIR. Bending 3 of the wheels, one of which was bent into an EGG SHAPE. I had them fixed but the damage was done. The wheel with the most damage from this event was the one that cracked.

Now, That We've all learned a little more about Mox and his wheels, we can all go back to being sarcastic assholes about something that actually matters.

A non-shitty car with a good suspension would have allowed your car to not fuck up the wheels. You should buy a better car... like a Neon.

If the wheels were that damaged, and you already fixed them once....just buy new ones and don't chance it. Fresh start. 21k is the equivalent of two years for most people, so...time for new ones IMO.

i would replace them, autox'ing wheels that have been repaired like yours would make me nervous, oh and i put a easy 20k a year on my car, 70 mile a day commute to work FML

Hehe I remember you bitching about the black wheels on your srt. I agree now. Black wheels are awful to keep clean, especially flat black.

Anyway, will the 275s work on the new rotas? I guess you could sell your current 3 to offset the cost too.

Lol @ people and their "legit" wheels.

Posted: Thu Aug 12, 2010 11:30 pm
by MoxHair
I would only get wheels that the 275's would fit on, No sense in buying another set of tires when the Kumho's only have about 2500 miles on them. The P45R's are 18x9.5 which is the same as my Grid's.

I'll never own solid black wheels again because of how hard they are to keep looking clean, a little bit of dirt and they look like poop.

I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet. I just spent all kinds of money in North Carolina and I have to spend more money on my Trip to Buffalo which is coming up in less than 2 months, $800 for plane, hotel, and rental car and I still have to add in the price of the Hockey Tickets.

If I hadn't had to go to my brother's wedding I would of already ordered the new wheels and called it a day.

Anybody want to give me other wheel ideas. I'm open to suggestions. Just looking for something that will fit my 275 tires that aren't too expensive and have a 20 offset.

No go on el cheap-o used tires for the time being?

no one has 4 matching decent tires in that size

Posted: Sat Aug 21, 2010 8:14 pm
by TheRandom1
If they're temps for a month or two so you can get to and from work, they don't have to match.

Posted: Sat Aug 21, 2010 8:18 pm
by sidepipe87
he has an AWD car... it's pretty important that they match actually.

Posted: Sat Aug 21, 2010 8:52 pm

The size, yes. But they don't really have to be the same brand of tires unless he's going to be Autoxing or something on them.

the size and tread have to be the same. they must be worn the same.
