got some stuff done last night, but no pics to show it.... ftl

anyway, it was like christmas at my place, got my booger shifter booshing, rear lateral bars bushings, oil temp gauge, and something i am going to use to make the gauge bezal pod...

also i got all the timing components switched over to the new block. i just have to get the head off tonight, and set that on the block.. i have to check for valve clearence on the new block so i am going to take a look at my headbolts to see if i can use them just for a test run before i get my arps.... if not i may open the set of felpros i have in my basement...

i ordered my bwoody motor mounts last night, (won them on ebay) should have them soon as well... after they come in i will be getting either an adjustable cam gear, or arp head studs... one or the other... after that i will concetrate on getting the block back in the car... (i need to get some kinda garage back for winter)

yeah, my color scheme with the engine bay may be the hardest part of this whole thing.... part of me wants to do a crazy color like u said about neonslg, but part of me wants to do something simple as well....

Stick with silver. It's clean looking, and since you'll be doing all the parts at the same time, they'll all match.

You can do black, silver and stainless/chrome without issue.

lol, but silver and black = sex. lol

got the head off the car last night, everything looks good. i did run into one problem with the new oil pan however... where the oil temp sensor is in the front of the pan my motor mount bracket hits it (about a quarter inch over to one side it would of been perfect) minor problem i am going to be looking at cutting the mount and welding it back together, or trying to figure a way to get the sensor to get closer to the pan...

problem is i think that mount is cast aluminum... and i dont like the idea of cutting a mount that holds the lower motor mount in the car and welding it would be hard to do

i still have to check for valve clearence... ran out of time and energy last night..

but i did start the gauge pod... buhaha. no pics, it dont look all that great right now anyway.... but should look good when i get it in the car!!!!

i am doing the gauge pod in the bezal by the gauge cluster, but it is a far better design than i found on neongoodies... looks cleaner and more visable. i messed with it alot yesterday trying to get them right... i started glassing it last night and this morning alittle bit... i will clean it up tonight when i get home and post some pics for all of u...

ok, well i came home and got some pics of some stuff for all of u.... not much to look at i think, but here they r...

new block somewhat assembled, some parts r hanging from it just so i new where the stuff went and the hardware would not get lost as i was switching everything around.

Image

everything swapped so far..
Image

if u look at the location of the sensor on the oilpan u will see my problem with the mount i was refuring to...
Image

stock bottom end... just chillin
Image

head is off, going to take it to a machine shop just to make sure nothing is warped or any problems (no signs of this but i would rather be safe than sorry....)
Image

and i am not sure if i like this gauge pod or not.... i need to get it mounted in the car, just so i can check to see how the gauges point... maybe rethinking this idea soon, or atleast not doing much more to it till i do a test fit in the car.

It looks like they'll point to high for you to accurately read them. Why is the oil pan welded?

it is a canton oil pan, they r welded with the sensor port already atached... it is a 6.5 quart pan... so it is huge... a funny design i know... but still has a windage tray and all already installed...

also....

here is a pic of it installed... i am not likin it... for one the guages are right in the steering wheel... and the angle is not right... and seing i do not want to start trimming my dash...(for the gauge to fit the acual mount would have to be trimmed) then that can be a cause of annoying rattles and shakes from the dash.... sooooooo i am now not sure what i am going to do.... and to straten them all out the aftermarket gauge would be right in the way of the factor gas gauge and temp gauge.

so let the :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: begin

well i was thinking about it last night, and i almost may not go with a oil temp gauge at all.... this will get rid of both problems, the motor mount bracket, (i will just remove the senso) and plug the whole)....and i would not have to worry about finding a place for new gauges.... that would solve both problems

simple easy and cheap... dont ya think?

As long as you don't fear that your oil will boil away, I think you should be fine without one.

Yeah I don't think an oil temp gauge is all that necessary. Oil pressure, yes but I would put that in the head, that's where my sender is installed.

my oil pressure is t'd off my sender going to my turbo, i dont feel like messing my turbo up... lol, i am going to order the headstuds today, if not today tomorrow. i just found a fidanza adjustable cam gear on ebay.... 90 + 10 shipping, not bad seeings modern wants 110 plus shipping, brand new as well... and moderns in on order, so who knows how long it would be till i got it

sorry, but i got these for very cheap after crystal bought the tranny mount... i was going to go chrome... but decided i would like the chrome or silver (what ever one i go with) to pop alittle more than the motor mounts would...

Yeah motor mounts should blend in with the motor's color or the body color...they shouldn't be what your eye is drawn to. :) Thanks for offering that to me Dave I'm definitely in need of one.
