nice work dude. i was just telling a buddy of mine the other day that i actually like how those look.
thats definitely got sleeper potential. i'm also interested in how much it weighs. looks like it would be similar to a pt cruiser gt.

Curious..Did they make an option where there is no rear windows for the SS? Or is that just for "work" oreintated jobs?
Let us know how the dyno goes this Friday.

MyNeonSaysHi: Thanks! I don't plan on doing any exterior mods other than what's done. As far as a panel version, yes there are two, one is a full panel version w/ just the driver and passenger doors having a window (like the "work" trucks"); the other option, known as an AA5 option is a 1/2 panel where it'll look like mine but the rear 1/4 panels will be solid w/ no windows.
LowNSlow, neon2ner: According to the specs, the HHR's weigh in at roughly 3365 lbs, so they're not too heavy. As a reference, my Neon weighed in at 3209lbs w/ me in it (I weighed 285 at the time), a full interior, and 1/2 a tank of gas.

Updating this: I'm about to head out to the dyno and get some hard numbers. I'll let you guys know what the hearse puts out at the wheels! I'll bring the cam so I'll get pics and maybe a vid or two.

Not bad at all.

Do they offer them in a stick?

yes they do, and the manual's make 10 more hp, and nearly 40 ft/lbs.
i also believe manuals can have no lift shift, and launch control; which makes me wonder, who the hell would get one with an auto.

I'm sure if Allex could he'd be all over the manual. Those manual numbers are crazy.
The dyno is looking pretty good. I like those numbers. yeah the tq could be a little higher but you're getting near the 300 range and that's always good. Sleeper potential.

Umm, let's see.... I WOULD. Yes if I owned a stick, I'd be right around 300hp, 290lbs/tq at the wheels.... BUT considering the fact that I don't have the use of my right arm, auto's my only choice

Either way, it makes me happy so that's what matters to me. Let me know where you can make the kind of power I've made over stock, that's factory warrantied, in an automatic, for roughly the same amount of cash I've invested ($1800).

Oh yeah, SRT stage kits don't count as 1) SRT's are sticks only and 2) kiss the warranty buhbyez w/ a stage 3 kit.

That's awesome! I had forgotten about your arm until you made that post. Nice numbers though. Crazy that the manuals make so much more but still VERY impressive for the little Red Hearse

Now now Dank.... if I were to have panties all up in my crack, wouldn't that then be considered a thong?

Don't worry about it.
LSP:
yeah, I don't run around presenting myself as

handicapped

lol. Funny thing is we have an ex-worker of mine at my job that's trying to claim disability when they truly are not. I told my bosses in passing conversation "hell if anyone would be able to claim, I should" they both looked at me and said "You are?!" When I pointed to my arm, they were like 'holy crap I've never even thought of you in that light! lol. But thanks to all on the compliments both good and bad.

Some people just enjoy trying to screw the system because they're lazy as hell. Others work their asses off despite disability (myself included) and don't claim anything.

Yeah, go figure huh? But then again here we are modding our cars ourselves (for the most part) and doing all sorts of fun stuff to em.

Wow, that thing's cool. Makes me want one to tote the kids around in. And as far as a disability, I agree. A disability is what you make of it. My left hand was destroyed 11 years ago, and I could have gotten a shit ton of cash from a law suit, but here I am scraping for money every month to pay the mortgage.

Well, just updating this: I've a few more "boxes" at the house, and a nice large one on the way... No pics yet, but I'll have blacked out headlights installed soon, and even better than that, a nice lil' Hahn intercooler along with Hahn intercooler piping as well! Mods are on the way baby!

I'll get pics up once the parts are in. I'm so stoked about the intercooler coming, I forgot to add that I have a few small CF touches to add to the exterior too; It's nothing "extravagant", but imo it'll set off the car nicely.

LSP, maybe I should PM you to see what Marzocchi Designs can do to retrofit HID's into my stock headlights.....

not a fan of the hhr but i wouldn't mind driving that as a daily. where did you dyno at?

I dynoed at Jannetty Racing in Waterbury. Once the intercooler + piping's on, I'll head back to see what gains I'll get.

i like the hhr ss, they are pritty rare as well! good luck with the install! i cant wait to see what it makes with the new intercooler on it...
white size piping is the kit made for?
Posted: Wed Mar 10, 2010 3:38 pm
by asanti
IIRC the intercooler piping is either 2" or 2.5" in diameter, fully mandrel bent, and is bead rolled at all the ends. The intercooler will support up to 700hp though I've NOOO intention of getting that radical lol.
