Lmao at the non-fucked up PT comment. Thanks guys, it's definitely a fun ride. Since I now have the intercooler, piping, and K&N filter sitting in the garage waiting to be installed, I just might be "tied up" this weekend with a solo install! We shall see....

I'll try to take pics of the progress as the installs happen to keep you guys updated.

So no pics of the install were taken (so what? call me Greedy

) but I went ahead and took off the front bumper and swapped the intercooler, the hotside piping, and installed my new headlights. The headlights are new and only come from a limited edition HHR built in '07. They're black chrome and now my front end has a nice, dark menacing look to it. Well that, and the huge HAHN insignia on the intercooler kinda gives onlookers a 'business statement" lol.

If the weather holds up this weekend, I'll get her washed up and take some new pics! As far as how it drives now, I can tell that there's a
lot more torque than before. I haven't even floored the gas pedal yet because it pulls so much harder now than before. Even at 1/4 throttle you can feel yourself getting pushed back into the seat, yum! I'll keep you guys posted when I get around to bringing her back to the dyno.

I think Jannetty Racing is the closet to you guys.

^^ Give that man a prize lol. Jannetty's is like 10 min. away from my house.
New Development though. Car just threw a CEL this morning which I'm sure is from the bigger IC piping

. I have an appointment Monday to have Jannetty install the other IC pipe, but if I'm going to be throwin codes, it's not for me. I went through
way too much shit w/ the Neon to repeat that with this ride!

I'm gonna pull the code and see if it's boost-leak related (points to a loose tbolt clamp) then really think about if I want to go through the same hassles as I did w/ the Neon. If not, stock IC + pipes go back in, and the IC and piping go up for sale in the HHR forums. It looks
badass, but IMO it won't be worth the headaches of throwin CELS all the time and/or having to get it tuned EVERYTIME I add some new performance part.... damn picky ECU's; I just want a reliable, fun DD!!!

Oopsie, false alarm!

Turns out the code's not boost related. I'm bringing the car in to the dealer on Tuesday and getting a new Fuel pressure regulator installed (Goooo warranty!). Then, back to finishing up the intercooler piping.

OK OK just for YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU Crystal, just cause you said so lol.....
These aren't "LSP" or Anthony's "Halcyon" quality lmao but I took a few quick snaps earlier today:
Overhead shot: new Hahn piping (hotside pipes) + K&N filter you can see the OEM filter at top (it's yellow). That blue is a factory color called "Blue flash metallic", it turns purple in the right light.
Overhead shot 2: The big shiny thingie at the bottom of the pic is the thick as hell intercooler, I can't fit my OEM splitter back on!

:
"Fall Edition" headlights stuffed with Silverstars, (I did the same w/ the foglights too) mmm mmm! They're black chrome, not truly blacked out. In bright light they look black, and in low light they look "gunmetal" it's pretty cool

:
For comparisons, the old look of the front end:
The look of the new front end

:
I still need to get the cold side pipe on but my arms are just too damn big to fit into some of the tight spaces between the throttle body + the rad fan. But in the meantime once it warms up a tad I still need to install the Carbon Fiber goodies I got for the outside and the bowtie overlays. The overlays will get rid of the gold on the Chevy emblems and I'll have a nice red exterior.

NeonOn19's: Thanks! I do like the CSRT's but these are a little bigger and suit my needs perfectly.
Updating this- the intercooler piping's back to stock, it seems the Hahn silicone coupler and Tbolt clamps at the intercooler didn't like 28lbs of boost and kept popping off for no reason

. Now that the stock pipie's back on, the SS is haulin ass and holding boost like a champ!

The Hahn intercooler's still on though! I'll take some pics this weekend since I'm meeting unc-newbie to deliver the BUX seats to him.

Well, I'm addicted!!! I now have a set of twin Aeroforce Interceptor gauges coming to me. These gauges read every parameter in the ECU directly from the OBDII port, can read
and clear codes + CEL's, can be used as dataloggers and more. Uber easy plug n play setup (literally, plug in and enjoy) and they'll have nice custom SS faceplates on them to boot!

Also I've ordered a solid upper MM from TurboTechRacing via a sick groupbuy on the HHR forum (can you say over $100 off!?

). Yeah, and "I wasn't going to do much to this car"....

I'll be posting some weekend pictures I took later on tonight. Let me know what you folks think!

Did they make panel SS/TCs by chance?
Just curious
Posted: Sat Apr 10, 2010 9:55 am
by asanti
Yes they did Josh! Actually they only made 216
true panel SS'. One was wrecked so there are 215 driving around. There's also a "semi-panel" SS available too; it's an AA5 option where the rear 1/4 windows are solid, but you still have windows for the doors. It's funny, I almost bought an AA5 optioned one when I bought this SS, I didn't realize they were a limited run. Check out
www.chevyhhr.net, there's a bunch of pictures there of all the different style HHR's out there.

Yo asanti, the HHR is looking insanely great! Needs to be lowered and stuff though.
BTW, I was cruisin' downtown not to long ago, and I saw a murderd out HHR, turbocharged. It sounded sick AND got the fuck out.

Nice Steven! It could've been a debadged SS, some guys like to do that just to Eff with people. When we meet at one of the New England meets I'll take you for a ride in mine, heh heh.

I'm thinking of suspension but since it's my DD, I might just keep it as is... There's a nice set of coilovers made by Pedders that'll let me drop the SS about 3 1/2"... We'll see! I also want a set of gold OZ Ultraleggera wheels, I just can't stomach 1) the 2 month wait for them and 2) the fact that I want a set of 19's, not 18's like I already have!

...
Anyhoo, here are a few teasers- a shot of the new motor mount I'm getting from TTR (mine will be gunmetal w/ a red bushing

), and a link to a vid of the Aeroforce gauges I'm getting. These are set up in an SRT4 of all things lol:
VID linky, yummy!

Quick Sunday update: Well today was the home oil change day, lol. I put 5 qts of Mobil 1 full synthetic in the hearse along with a new oil filter. After that, did the same to the wifey's Cavi. But here's the fun stuff, I did a partial debadge/rebadge on my hearse, yay! Pics:
Chicklet-less! GM badges (aka chicklets) removed on both sides:
On to the rear, my small touch of CF:
Carbon Fiber SS badging! I started at the rear since that's the smallest SS badge on the car. Holy hell the residue was a bi**h to get off though! I'll do the side SS badges next weekend. I think it's sex in black. What say ye??

Only if the crap you took was shaped like my SS badging!!

Otherwise your comment reeks of Phail; besides, I hate your sig because it causes my slow as hell dial-up work pc to chug!

I know CF isn't everyone's cup o joe that's why I'm just doing those small touches and that's it. Thanks for commenting on it though!

None taken Random, we're good. At least be happy I'm not on the "rusty hood" bandwagon (blechh!!!)! :thumb: You really can't do anything CF on the outside of these HHR's, so you won't see me rockin a CF hood or rear hatch anytime! But seriously, something about your sig makes my pc at work crap its diodes; it must be a dial-up bandwith eater.
